After nearly 12 years there has been a distinct change within this practice. I’m in dispute overa a £60 cancellation fee from a plan that never had such fee when I took it out12 years ago. Having gone from Independent to corporate ownership it shows and that is why I took my dog out of this practises care.

Frustratingly I have had administrative errors and communication difficulties with Beaumont vets. They provide excuses for errors as secondary to busy periods and then give an apology that lacks compassion. I see this mirrored in other reviews and hope that they can reflect and improve their standards as a response to further feedback.

Horrendous, avoid at all costs.

They used to be absolutely amazing, however since they have been taken over, ALL the previous vets have left, many being there 10+ years. All bar one of the highly trained nurses have left and the general atmosphere in there is very unfriendly. Needless to say I have now changed vets and will not be going back. I have taken all my pets there over the last 15+ years and previously could not fault them.
So, the result of the changes and which has lead me to leave this review; I took a newly adopted dog to register her and have a general health check. I was seen by a man, who I had not met before. He gave the dog a bit of check over, however I thought this chap was one of the new nurses. This was the same kind of health check I had come to expect from one of the senior nurses when we've come for a 6 monthly check up. However, it appears this chap was in fact one of the new vets. I then went for a 6 monthly check with a nurse, taking all of our pets (4 cats and 2 dogs), however, firstly they tried to cancel half of the appointment as we were leaving, having already secured all the pets in the car and they seem to have no knowledge of the 2 linked accounts (the pets split between myself and my daughter) and then reluctantly allowed us to keep the appointment. Cancel all or none, not half! I get there may have been an emergency, I'm not that insensitive! We then arrived at the appointment and the nurse claimed she didn't have a room, despite one of the vets coming out of an empty consultation room and telling her she could use it, she decided she would use the entrance room to the surgery out the back. We establish all the pets in said room and she turns to me says 'I am only a nurse and can not give you any advise, if you have any questions you will need to make an appointment with a vet'. This health check with the nurses in previous years has consisted of a friendly, highly trained nurse who has recorded their weight, checked eyes, ears and mouth, heart rate and discussed diet. They had been extremely knowledgeable, and if you had any questions they absolutely needed a vet to answer, the would pop and ask a vet, then book an appointment if further investigation was needed. Instead, the health plan check up consisted of us taking all the animals in for a weight check. An absolute waste of paying for the health plan and waste of my time. I did have concerns over one of the cats losing weight, and yes I did need to book him to see a vet. I fully respect that, but I could have saved a visit and just booked him in on his own. Anyway, we then went back with the cat of concern. A blood test was needed to investigate, in old times the vet would have taken the cat out the back there and then to take bloods, they would also have provided a cost for the treatment and this is what would have been charged on the bill... but no. The vet decided the pet was stressed (most chilled cat on the planet), and prescribed drugs to calm him and make a second appointment to take the bloods. He also said I would need to leave the pet for a few hours for them to take the bloods and collect later in the day. I did as I was told, and returned with a very drugged cat. This time I saw one of the original vets (this was before he left) and noted my displeasure at a) drugging the cat. b) the bloods not being taken during the initial consultation and c) having to leave him and come back. The vet looked really confused, he kind of shrugged and suggested it did seem strange, but did say he would take the bloods now and there was no need to leave the cat there. The drugs completely incapacitated the cat for about 12 hours, and it now appears the drugs prescribed was double what was needed for a cat of his weight, (not to mention he has since had 2 more lots of blood taken without needing to be drugged). They then charged for the bloods, as they had advised PLUS another £110 to read the report..... What? Sorry, did they not realise they need to read the report? Is this not part of the process of diagnosis? If taking blood and investigating the issues is £200, say it's £200. Don't tell us £100 which is an out and out lie and then double it. Anyway trying to dispute this with the practice manager is like banging your head against a brick wall. There is no, 'I apologies for the misunderstanding', you are instead met with a sour faced man who thinks repeating the same sentence over and over and over, using intimidation and repetitiveness in an attempt frustrate the customer. He is quite simply a bully and has absolutely no customer services skills whatsoever. Trying to get the history out of them to change vets was another challenge in itself. Needless to say, we have changed vets, we are still disputing the bill, they are still trying to add additional costs that should have been covered under the pet plan and we are at stalemate.
Hence, we have now moved to Estuary Vets, Topsham.

Diabolical service

Diabolical service. We have had our animals (countless cats and 3 dogs) with the vets for over 15 years and never really had any issues. Now we are just being messed around. Each time we take the animals in, we get contradicting opinions about their care and what’s required from each vet (advised operations by one, told not necessary by another etc). We are told one cost, and they charge us £100 more FOR A BLOOD TEST because it’s “£102 for the bloods and £104 for the lab to read the results”, which they didn’t even call to tell us, I received a text with an outstanding balance. Despite incorrectly advising us, not willing to offer discount or even an apology for the situation. Told us we needed to drug our cat for bloods (who is incredibly calm anyway) which cost £40 for 2 tablets) for the bloods to clot and we had to bring him back unmedicated for a retry, so that was a complete unneeded waste of money - and pretty sure the dosage was far too high for his weight anyway as it incapacitated him for a full day to the point where he couldn’t walk and we had to monitor him to make sure he was still breathing etc. honestly have never received such poor service from the Clinic Manager. We have laid our trust in them for the wellbeing of our animals and we have been ripped off and our pets are no better for it. DO NOT RECOMMEND !!!
