My experience with better speech was a terrible one. And it mainly relates to the company’s pricing policy. They have you choose a subscription tier just to have the first paid consultation with the therapist (not the free consultation). So if after the consultation you don’t decide to go with them, or for some reason don’t want to start the therapy right away, they quietly charge you every week, even if you actually don’t use the service. In my case, I didn’t realize what they were doing until a month later when I looked through my credit card statement. By then I was charged $67 a week x 4 weeks.
The worst part is when I contacted customer support for this issue, they gave me such a hard time, citing in their terms of use that they don’t give out refunds, etc. It took a lot of effort and a lot of frustration and even threatening to finally get them to issue refunds. But it did feel like there was some fraudulent and misleading practices from better speech, and they are not exactly there to provide a good customer experience, but was more about making a profit. The platform and the therapist work separately and do not communicate well with each other, resulting in this situation.
Frankly, after this experience, I’d run another way from this company. Yes their marketing feels personal from the founder, and they continue sending you some really heart felt emails and messages, but their misleading business practice and pricing strategies can make you fall prey to them once you give them your credit card number. Be very very careful with better speech. For me it was a really bad experience and it resulted in not getting service for my son’s speech problems.

Adriana was incredibly patient and helpful when my stroke got in the way of my memory. Not only did we work through many different kinds of memory tests and exercises together, but also she helped me gradually regain my confidence, so that I could restart daily activities such as driving. Our last session was today, but some of the tools she taught me, like keeping a daily memory journal, I will probably do for the rest of my life. Thank you so much, Adriana!

Better Speech had been my partner for months in my goal to improve my speech. I have stuttering problem. I have the words to say but as soon as I start speaking, I stutter and people had difficulty understanding me. After a couple of months therapy and speech practices, I confidently say that I have greatly improved and have gained confidence in speaking. Absolute scam. I signed up for the video library to work on my lisp, but the resources are not suitable for adult speech therapy. I have a hard time believing they'd be useful for anything. But the biggest issue is I cannot cancel my subscription! There is no option to do so on their website, and they have not responded to phone calls or emails. I've had to repeatedly dispute the charges through my bank and will be trying to find a solution to block future charges as well.
