My B&D cordless drill packed up after 2 weeks still under warranty on the 8 Jan.The supplier said it needed a replacement and requested B&D to send one out.
Still waiting and B&D will not reply to my email.

Drill has been fine over the years. Very slow answer to support emails. Like months. Shame.

We purchased a cordless vacuum, to replace a very tiered Vax and wanted something a little easier for my disabled wife to use, failed after a month! Contacted B&D and completed warranty forms and told a replacement would be sent out and be with us within a week! Nothing! So we tired to chase it up! We have spent 4 weeks, sitting on hold for upto an hour each day, requested call backs, emailed, used Twitter and Facebook, contacted B&D USA to help and not a thing, until yesterday I got though! Replacement is being sent out and will be with us within a week!! Let’s hope it’s not a ground hog day situation!!

I recently bought an electric saw from Black & Decker, on arrival it was missing some blades and instruction manual. I e mailed them and immediately they sent what was missing. They arrived the day after e mailing. There were a few e mails back and forward but as soon as I sent one they replied. I have never experienced such excellent customer service for a very long time. What a wonderful company they are. Buy British and use them for tools etc.

My cordless vacuum stopped working, brush attachment wouldn't move. Happened 16 months into warranty and I was sent a replacement with no problems, just sent in the details from appliance sticker plate. 19 months later the same fault occurred with the replacement. Contacted customer service and spoke with Kalen. Very helpful, phoned me back after speaking with team and I'm now just waiting for replacement to be sent. Fantastic customer service, I think I've been unlucky getting 2 appliances with the same problem, but the customer service has been faultless and very easy to contact. I would 100% recommend Black and Decker, and apart from the unfortunate fault the vacuum performs better than my old Dyson. Brilliant company and customer service staff!!
Edited 26th April - my replacement vacuum arrived as promised - contacted Thursday, delivered Monday. Just the best customer service!!!😁

I have recently bought a lawnmower. The midel BEMW351 and the blade is not sharpened so it doesn't cut the grass!!!! Why would you put in the market a product that doesn't do what it's expected to do?????
TERRIBLE PRODUCT DESIGN, just a nonesense. Such a disappointment on this maker.

I had a problem with my 18V drill after I probably asked a little too much from a consumer product (heavy use on an all day job building a beach hut, inc some very hard use)....but the customer support guys were extremely helpful, I had the replacement drill sent and I guess as it was Christmas, they sent me a little something extra to add to my Black and Decker tool kit...So, and especially given what I originally paid (about 10% more than all the weirdly named chinese stuff on Amazon) I am delighted...and will certainly buy again!

I just bought two Black and Decker fan heaters on Amazon. One failed as soon as I turned it on and Amazon is refunding my money. But that's not the main reason why I'm doing this review. I thought Black & Decker was a British or an American company. I think it is, but these fan heaters were made in China, the home of the virus. Why are almost all companies in the west so greedy that they feel they have to manufacture EVERYTHING in China!? It is next to impossible to buy anything these days that's not made there.

Though Black and Decker had built a solid reputation on quality and reliability, everything after the 90s is complete junk! I had forks that were so cheaply made, I could bend the prongs back by hand! Spades that snapped in half after 5 minutes use! Their drills, I had 3 and all of them are unable to do hammer drilling because the keyless chuck undoes and the drill bit comes out (same happens in reverse). Also after 40-50 uses you have to replace the battery as an hour charge lasts 10-15 seconds....

I would NEVER buy black and decker again. They are selling complete junk based on their reputation of the old days. I paid the premium for Black and Decker my entire life, as I knew it was quality and built to last..... but after the 90s, their quality slipped.... after 2000, they sold acceptable items.... But after 2010, they sold the cheapest junk that came out of the Chinese reject bin! In the shop last year, I bent the prongs on their premium fork in the shop by hand, I switched brand and paid half the price and it done me well so far!

AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!! Cheaper brand names out there that won't leave you hanging through a job!

Having had a Ryobi strimmer for 20 years with no probs I wish I'd stayed with the make.
This Black and Decker mode, which I bought via Amazon is very lightweight. It was okay for the first couple of months doing edging, but its first encounter with a clump of nettles started its problems with line feed which I can not rectify. It keeps on overfeeding line out in 1/2" lengths which get cut off.
I cannot go anywhere near a clump of thick grass or the bottom of a fence post or garden wall to tidy without it spewing out line unnecessarily at the slightest contact, leaving loads of small bits of line to tidy up. Have stripped it and cleaned it but the problem continues. Now on my third line spool. In 20 years I think I only used 4 spools of line on my old Ryobi.
I can't send it back to Amazon now and Black and decker website not helpful and unable to get through on phone to customer services.
Really feel I wasted my money on this product.

The worst service I’ve ever experienced. The hoover broke after 1 use. When I got there to claim the refund about 20 year old employee was unbelievably rude and unhelpful. Customer service on terrible level. Would not recommend anyone.

Only voted one star as they dont go any lower,BEW 220 sander purchased,used once,the sandpaper tore immediately,the clips dont keep it in place,and they dont answer emails.As my dad was a great user of B&D,wanted to carry on tradition-no chance now,absolute rubbish

Interesting company this one. My father used Black and Decker power tools in the 1960s. Then there was the famous "Workmate" in the 1970s, which made B&D serious cash, and possibly may still?
Actually use Makita power tools, so why the 4 stars here?
I work full time within the construction industry. Makita are good, but are also expensive professional tools for people like me. The tools that B&D produce, fill the gap for serious DIYers who aren't going to shell out £200 quid on an electric planner, but would still like to use power tools to complete the job, rather then doing everything by hand. Need less to say must DIYers power tools end up in the bottom draw of the garage work bench, never again to see the light of day.
Whatever your opinion of B&D, any Company that has managed to trade for so long can't be too bad.

This review is specifically for the 1800W corded lawnmower, 32cm blade. Components cheap and nasty, not substantial enough and took tears off my life trying to get the components to fit. It wasn't cheap but looks & feels like it. Very much noisier than any other corded mower I've owned. I'll use it until it fails then get another...but not a B+D. Shame 'cos they had a good reputation some years back.

Just attempted to assemble the Workmate 536, although we were led to believe it arrived fully assembled. The instructions were of absolutely no help and fitting the handle proved almost impossible, almost a square peg in a round hole.

I have bought several Black and Decker tools and have been very pleased with the quality . I have recently bought a cordless drill which has broken and I am having great difficulty getting
it repaired . This means I am going to have to buy another drill to continue my project .

I've had a few B&D items over the years and I've been left with the impression that they're another company who are trading on past glories. They now make cheap and nasty tat that won't last 5 minutes as every corner that can be cut has been. Plastic components where metal should be used and a set of incomprehensible hieroglyphics that pass for instructions seem par for the course.

I watched someone using a B&D Aligator looper a few years ago and was very impressed so bought one for myself. It has served my well for a number of years and is much safer than a chain saw to use. The chains last a decent time without needing to be sharpened and it will cut through quite thick branches, about 4-5” thick. The drawback is the trailing wire but a very long extension lead can help. In fact I have been so impressed by them I have know purchased a battery cordless pair. I have not tried them yet but as long as the batteries hold power they should be as good if not better than the mains model. I will review them once they have proved the self to be worthy.
