Still the best pies that I know of…
This review is for someone, like ourselves, who may not have ordered from Bowen’s for a while. In our case, 8 months. This was due to personal reasons that meant ordering food online was simply not a priority.
As everyone will know, we are constantly having to endure a noticeable drop in standards of many food items, mostly from Supermarkets, I.e., reductions in size, lesser quality ingredients, etc., so part of me expected the same here.
I’m delighted to report that the quality hasn’t dropped one iota. Yes, the pies aren’t the cheapest but you really do get what you pay for. Pastry and seasoning are outstanding and, unlike Supermarket pies which are filled with mostly air and a few chunks of gristle, these are still rammed full and with a good level of 100% edible meat content.
My message to the owners, please keep up the standards and continue to give us the choice that if we are prepared to pay for quality, that option is out there.

Oh my god
Oh my god, the steak pie is the best I have ever eaten and at 69 years old I have eaten some pies in my time. The meat is lean , chunky and melts in the mouth with a gorgeous taste. The pastry is also a masterpiece. The meat and potato pie has the same delicious pastry with an excellent filling. The pork pie is also to die for. All are amazing quality,take it from me.

Nice selection of pies. Well packaged and labelled. Good price with the starter pack offer for 6 pies but probably wouldn't pay as much as the regular price.

Great quality produce but online prices higher
Great quality produce. I'm not sure why the pies are so much more expensive to buy for delivery compared to the shop as post and packaging is charged separately. I think due example the steak is £3.25 in the shop but £5.45 online and then postage is added on top. Would be five stars if they charged shop prices then added p+p on top.

Thanks so much for your review Ant, and for saying you enjoy the quality of our pies, that really means a lot.
Just to clear one thing up first, our steak pies in the shop are £4.50, not £3.25, so I think there might’ve been a mix up on the price there. That said, we completely get where you’re coming from on the online costs.
The reason there’s a small difference is because posting pies safely isn’t cheap - the insulated box, foil lining and cool packs alone come in at around £11 per order, before you even add in the online payment and website fees. That’s why online prices look a little higher compared to picking them up in person.
We’ve kept delivery as low as we can at £4.95, and it’s free if you’re ordering over £50. Hopefully that explains things a bit better.
We really do appreciate your feedback though and we’ll always be as open and fair as we can.
