SERIOUS CONCERNS FOR PROSPECTIVE EB-5 INVESTORS
I am writing this review based on my personal experience as an EB-5 investor with CanAm Enterprises, particularly regarding the redeployment of my investment capital.
My experience has left me with serious concerns about transparency, communication, investor choice, and the protection of investor capital.
When my original EB-5 investment reached the redeployment stage, I did not feel that I was given a meaningful alternative regarding where my capital would be redeployed. My understanding and experience were that my funds were ultimately directed into the Miami Brightline project, despite my concerns about the investment and my lack of confidence in the project.
As a passive EB-5 investor, I had limited control over the investment decision. That makes transparency and communication from the sponsor especially important. In my experience, I did not receive the level of communication, transparency, and investor engagement that I expected when making such a significant investment.
The subsequent performance and circumstances surrounding the Miami Brightline investment have increased my concerns considerably. I am currently concerned about the recovery of my capital and believe that investors deserve much greater transparency regarding the status of their investments and the steps being taken to protect and recover investor funds.
I am also disappointed with what I perceive as a lack of meaningful engagement with affected investors. When investors are facing significant uncertainty regarding their hard-earned capital, I believe the sponsor should be communicating openly, answering difficult questions, and demonstrating that investor concerns are being taken seriously.
CanAm historically had a strong reputation in the EB-5 industry, which was one of the reasons I and many other investors placed our trust in the organization. My current experience has unfortunately changed my view of that reputation.
To prospective EB-5 investors: please do not rely solely on CanAm's historical reputation or brand name. Conduct your own independent due diligence. Ask very specific questions about redeployment, investment selection, investor protections, downside scenarios, liquidity, exit strategies, and what happens if a redeployed project encounters financial difficulties.
I encourage prospective investors to speak with existing investors and understand their experiences before making a decision.
This review reflects my personal experience and concerns as an investor. I hope CanAm will engage constructively with affected investors and take meaningful steps toward addressing their concerns and recovering investor capital.
