I recently bought a car from CarGem in Essex. I'd been looking for a BMW 330e Touring for around two weeks, and out of all the dealerships I came across, theirs was the most reasonably priced. From the photos, the car also looked to be in the best condition, and I could tell straight away this was the one.
After making an enquiry, I was contacted by a salesman named Berkay, who struck the perfect balance of friendly and professional, and was very easy to work with. He got the wheels painted quickly and arranged delivery as fast as he could, a day earlier than promised. He fully looked after us from start to finish. You're in good hands with Berkay.
We were travelling down from Nottingham and were a little apprehensive at first, but CarGem didn't disappoint. All of the staff were excellent and the atmosphere was welcoming throughout. Nothing during the visit gave me any reason to question the company or anyone working there, and the novelty of buying a new car was kept alive with every person we met. The sales office was busy, with plenty of staff and customers, but we still felt genuinely valued.

My car was Delivered by Ross, of the company RLR Automotive, He delivered the car without a scratch, kept me in the loop, and was also a great guy.

Thanks again to Berkay and Ross and the whole team at CarGem, really appreciate everything you did for us.

Sold us a car that stinks of cigarettes…

Sold us a car that stinks of cigarettes and now refusing to take the car back. So now leaving us with children in a car that stinks and full of 3rd hand smake and the toxins. The issue was raised the day after delivery( brought unseen) . I gave two options pay for full valet including new filter etc in the vents or take the car back. They wont do either. They have an awful after sales team that dont even answer calls now.
Motor ombudsman now involved but stay away not trust worthy at all.

I found the company to be professional, the guy who dealt with my (Ryan) was such a cool guy, very knowledgeable and friendly. I’m very sceptical about car salesmen but my mind was put at ease with these guys, I can tell that the vehicle I purchased had been thoroughly checked over and sold to me at in perfect shape. Again hats off to Ryan, highly recommend this company

laughable aftersales department

A day after collecting my mercedes i noticed an awful rattle from the engine which after their workshop controller and service manager both tried to tell me was "how diesels sounded" after i sent in videos, turned out to need a whole new timing chain. Laughable.
To sell a car with this noise and then for managers to tell you the noise is nothing, is wild.
No offers to collect the car, give a loan car or anything. After weeks on end of them having the car and making up stories as to why it was taking forever, i got it back.
Fast forward a year later to now, the chain started to rattle again, luckily i work at mercedes and after stripping it all, they said the chain was awful. They said cargem either never changed the chain or they used the cheapest/worst part possible.
If you need any form of help from their aftersales you'll be stuffed they are genuinely useless.

Disappointing after sales

Bought a car through Cargem which was a good experience but the after sales leaves a lot to be desired!! We were waiting for a small wing mirror lens to be replaced which was damaged before we bought the vehicle delaying pickup because we were told the wrong part had be sent twice!! We collected the vehicle and was booked in for when the part came in. Arrived at the repair garage to be told the wrong part had been sent again! Rebooked again to be left for 30 minutes and told they thought someone else was dealing with us, then 3 hours later the job had been completed. We inspected the lens (with the vehicle locked and wing mirrors turned in) all fitted correctly, once on the motorway we noticed the inner lip of the wing mirror paintwork had been scraped this damage was definitely not there before and I find it hard to believe that whoever carried out the work didn't know they had caused this damage! We contacted cargem straight away but the mailbox was constantly full, we emailed, no response, finally spoke to someone 2 weeks after the damaged to be told today "not their responsibility"! Very disappointing service from thier after sales department.

Purchased a Mini off these lot

Purchased a Mini off these lot, £15k yet I get it delivered with broken wiper blades and the cigarette lighter not working.
They expect me to drive up from Dover to east London and they will look at it, not prepared to meet me halfway and take ownership that they didn’t bother checking when selling the car, for a local garage to look at it.
Wouldn’t buy anything from these jokers, you never know it it actually works

I have contacted Cargem where I bought the car and all they say is bring it in during the week. I am in Dover and work in Folkestone, they are in East London, not possible really, so asked for them to find a local garage to me who would look at the issues, flat no. Great customer service

Terrible and Avoid

Terrible, I bought a car a month ago , had minor damage, which they promised to put right free, a month later after giving me the absolute run around , I'm still trying to talk to a manager, their Customer service is shocking, they treat customers awfully really wish I'd gone somewhere else

I have been trying to talk to you directly for over a month, and you just never get back to me, I have also made complaints that you have not acknowledged

The sales guys brilliant after sales non existent. No call backs after calling them more than a dozen times.
Emails responded to without knowing the full story saying not our problem.

My experience with Cargem customer service aftersale site was good. Although my appointment was 12noon and didn't leave there just after 3.30. But was worth the wait and patient. I was looked by Mr Hussain Haque who was welcoming and friendly. Keep me up to date on what was happening and what was the problem. Bending their heads to solve & figured out the problem till the team cracked it. They explained what the problem & even showed me a video clip on what happened to the valve sensor on my alloy wheel that cusing the problem. I would like to thank Mr Hussain Haque & Cargem Customer aftersale team for a great service and great advice.

Appalling after sales service

Purchased the car 31st March. Salesman was desperate to hit month end targets so suggested it was delivered same day. Arrived on a truck but had a chipped windscreen. Notified Danny via whatsapp but received no answer to any of my messages.
Contacted customer services whos solution was for me to do a 100 mile round trip to their windscreen repair shop!
The rep was unable to comprehend why I thought this was unsatisfactory and didnt seem to understand there were mobile repairers who could do this at my home or at least more locally, even asking me why I thought it was ok for him to spend time coming to me to fix it!!!
Beware attitude seems to be we will offer you a resolution that is so unreasonable we know you wont take it up but at least we can tick the box saying we have offered it.
Just hoping nothing else goes wrong as aftersales support couldnt be any worse.

Update - Via trust pilot they contacted me asking to call them to resolve this. After numerous attempts they answered the phone only to tell me 'well that is our answer, maybe someone from management might have looked at this and will make an exception I'll get them to call you'
Waited three days and still nothing.
Just confirms my initial findings that they talk a good game but their responses and resolutions are worthless.
I'd say avoid at all costs.

Refuse to refund deposit on already sold car.

Found a car on auto trader that CarGem were selling. Wanted to move forward woth purchase but was a long way to go so reserved the car through CarGem's website for £99. Received an email saying my reservation was confirmed and to ring up to arrange collection. When I rang up I was told that the car in question had been reserved by someone else 4 days earlier. The salesman then immediately tried to start selling me other cars. When I made it clear to him that I wasn't interested in other cars (on the 4th time of trying) I stated that I expected the deposit to be refunded as they allowed me to put it down on a car that was already reserved. I was told he would take care of it. Nothing happened. I have since sent two emails to customer services to have no response. I am now at the stage of raising a complaint through my credit card company to try recoup my money that way. A company with terrible customer service, a website which is obviously not for for purpose, and a call handler than outright lies to your face. I would recommend avoiding if at all possible.
EDIT FOLLOWING RESPONSE:
Once again that is an outright lie. Your sales assistant made absolutely no mention of a £500 full holding deposit and simply said the car was already reserved. I appreciate you processing my refund but it should not have taken a review on TrustPilot for you to actually act to correct what was a system error on your part. I await the arrival of the refund, if it does arrive I shall amend my review to reflect this.
Update: Refund has been received, amended to 3 stars to reflect this.

We would like to clarify that vehicle reservations remain open to all customers until a full holding deposit is received. Our sales colleague did explain that a £500 deposit is required as a commitment to secure the vehicle and have it removed from the market. As this was not completed on your end the vehicle remained available and was subsequently secured by another customer.

That said we understand your concerns regarding the £99 reservation fee and appreciate your patience while we reviewed your case. Following this review we can confirm that your refund has now been processed. Please allow 5–7 business working days for the £99 to reach your account depending on your bank’s processing times.

We apologise for any confusion or inconvenience caused and thank you for bringing this to our attention.
