I am only 3 months into the course and all I have to say is that I went from knowing nothing of VFX to a more experienced user. I am amazed by how much I have learned in a small amount of time with valuable feedback from my mentor. I am for sure going to be in this online course for a full year.

I took the 3 month course "Introduction into game Programming" and here is my experience laid out with it.
In this course you will be learning C++, and developing a game in the command console using it.
Overall the course gives you a grasp on how to use C++, and why a lot of developers in the gaming industry use it.
I do have to state though and this was stated by one of the students during the last lecture the first couple of weeks of the course are a bit slow they teach you the basic syntax on how every programming language basically works for example if statements loops.
Then after the basics are over you jump into the real power of C++ such as pointers vectors arrays and what not, which needed a bit more explaining, but overall they did a good job on laying out their functionality.
So here is the part where I talk about my instructor, and this is going to be completely my biased opinion of him.
I have no critiques about him. He was very knowledgeable, he is a professional in the industry, he knew how to help us every step of the way, he even stayed after class and continued talking with us and giving is advice recommendations and teaching us about the industry, and about the language, so Thank you very much Caio Sabino.
Though I do have to say and some people might not agree with me about the meetings, but I do wish they could be a bit longer, or just more than one day, because they felt like they went by very fast.
So thank you very much to CG Spectrum and my instructor.

I have just completed the 3 month Foundation in Nuke Compositing with CG Spectrum. What an amazing College, with incredibly experienced (and currently working) mentors from the industry, and an inclusive and friendly vibe, despite being a global community. I will be starting a 9 month course in Nuke with them shortly; hugely enjoyable, I cannot believe how much I have learned so far. The set up is very professional, with department staff very visible (digitally), to support with everything from wellbeing, socialising, networking /career opportunites, to technical issues (team of TAs too) and admin.
I'm hooked, and as someone changing career after 20 years, I have absolutely no doubt I made the right move to study with them. 5 stars across the board!

I started the course with absolutely no knowledge of compositing and learned more in 3 months than I could have imagined. My mentor was always there to answer any questions that I had and would always give more than expected. I really like the way CG Spectrum does their courses. I would recommend CG Spectrum to anyone. If you put the work in, you will learn.

I just finished the Game Programming course with the 1-to-1 mentorship formula and, overall, I am satisfied!
The great selling point of CG Spectrum is the mentors. Having someone that is part of the industry personalizing your training, guiding you in your projects, and providing honest feedback backed up by years of experience is something very valuable you won't get in other Game Programming Courses. My mentor assisted me in realizing a game prototype I had in mind for quite a long time, and that was amazing.
I highly recommend anyone interested in the course to spend that extra money and go for the 1-to-1 formula, because that's where you'll see the biggest difference with other online resources.
Another great aspect of CG Spectrum is the community it offers! Every week there are a lot of events and huddles where you can discuss with other students and teachers about your ideas, your problems, or the industry in general. If you have the time to partake in these events, you'll probably make a lot of new friends and connections!
One thing I didn't like as much are the pre-recorded lessons. Since the course is meant to be for people coming from different levels of experience, the lessons are extremely beginner-friendly and show a bit of everything without diving deep into the topics. You'll see the most basic Unreal classes, a bit of AI, a bit of physics, some UI, a bit of animation programming, a bit of multiplayer and networking, something about collisions... but the course will never delve into details. Since in 9 months it would be impossible to study every topic in depth anyways, the idea behind the lessons is to help you discover the topics that interest you the most, talk about them with your mentor, and get better by applying them to some project of yours. However, for people that aren't beginners, like me, the extremely beginner-friendly lessons are a con you should take into account. Moreover, let's not forget that beginner pre-recorded lessons are something that can be found somewhere else online at a much, MUCH lower price.
I am also a bit perplexed about how, in the first semester of my studies, a considerable chunk of the lessons were game design oriented instead of being about actual game programming. The two subjects are intertwined, of course, but since the lessons aren't that many, I would have preferred a more in-depth analysis of some of the programming topics instead.
Finally, I didn't like how software architecture is completely ignored at every stage of the course. The lessons never tackle techniques on how to build complex, extensible, and easy-to-use game systems. This is extremely important on big projects with many gameplay elements, which is why people interviewing for game programming positions in AAA studios are asked architectural questions 90% of the time. I think that a school that aims at providing its students with the necessary tools to get a job in the industry should address this topic.
Maybe an extra "Advanced Game Programming" course tackling Software Architecture and more complex topics would work? I don't know, it's just an idea.

Hi, I'm Max and I just finished this week the Foundations of Concept Art & Digital Illustration Course. I have been studying from Chile, a country with a poor perspective of art. I spent a couple of years studying illustration on my own, because what I wanted to study was non-existent in my country. When I realized that my own knowledge could not progress any further, I dedicated myself to look for some place where I could be taught, even outside the country and that's when I found CG Spectrum.
My experience was fun and exciting, there were months where I was busy with work but my mentor was always willing to help and guide me. The subjects are easy to digest and the assignments along with their challenges are really engaging. I didn't interact with the community as much as I wanted to, but I felt how welcoming they were and I really liked that. It really met my expectations and even exceeded them at some points, I would recommend this place and would love at some point to meet the place in person.

When I wanted to take my dream of Game Development professionally being from rural Kentucky it is often seen as unobtainable.
CG Spectrum offers the skills necessary to practically any student that lives anywhere with an internet connection. The curriculum provided teaches on a professional level in a clear and concise manner, the mentors are knowledgeable and willing to work to help a student grow.
Overall I would without a doubt recommend CG Spectrum as a first choice for an online Game Development/Digital Art school.

I took the Foundations Of Concept Art & Illustration course as well as the Advanced Concept Art course here, and the program, mentorship, and Slack community have been absolutely incredible. Humza Khan was my mentor and the vast amount of knowledge & resources he shared, plus ways to improve process, I'll always keep in mind and apply it to my work. Logging in to class each week has been an absolute joy; these courses were a lot of fun, and a great challenge!
