Buyer Beware of C&H Return Policy
Needed a new fireplace insert and my HVAC contractor recommended C&H. Sat with my contractor while he was on the phone with C&H order desk to confirm the model I chose would work. C&H order desk asked my contractor for multiple measurements which I watched my contractor make and report back to order desk. Order desk agreed that the model would work so the order was placed. Installation was arranged after the order arrived and it turned out the unit was too large for the fireplace. Contacted the order desk to discuss. C&H said they would accept the return but would charge me a 30% restocking fee and also charge me for the return shipping. They also charged me shipping on the new smaller unit I ended up buying from them. I was then instructed to place the original unit on a pallet, which I hand to source myself, and send photos of the shipping prep. I had to purchase tie down straps and shrink wrap at my cost. I've never experienced this kind of cost and abuse over a lifetime of purchases. Never again!

While our fireplace team reviewed the measurements provided during the ordering process, we are not physically present at the installation location and must rely on the dimensions supplied to us. Because installation conditions vary from home to home, final sizing and fitment must be confirmed at the installation site. Prior to purchase, the installation manual was provided by our team and is also available on the product page where your inquiry originated. It is the installer’s responsibility to verify measurements and confirm compatibility before ordering.
When it became clear the original unit would not fit, our team worked with you to identify a smaller fireplace insert that would better suit the installation and facilitated the return of the original unit. As outlined in our return policy (posted on our website), returns are subject to restocking and return freight charges. Fireplaces that have been opened, unboxed, or uncrated — particularly special-order units — are typically not eligible for return. Despite this, we worked with you to arrange a return and move forward with a suitable replacement so the project could proceed.
The original unit shipped to you on a pallet with free freight. For freight returns, the product is typically returned using the same pallet and packaging. Applicable return freight and restocking charges are outlined in our return policy.
We’re glad your replacement fireplace was successfully delivered in January. While we understand that returns involving freight shipments can be frustrating, our team worked with you to ensure the project ultimately moved forward with a fireplace that fit the installation. We hope you are enjoying your new fireplace.

Hard to Find Part!
I was just so happy to be able to find the replacement part at all. The Traeger I purchased 2 years ago is built exclusively for COSTCO. I didn’t know that at the time. Now parts are difficult to find as the model is not common to any other store line. I was very happy that Chadwick’s and Hacks could/would get me one. Was worth the wait. Thankyou.
