Wow shocked at 2.1 out of 5 reviews for Chatwins, what has happened here. Today was the worst customer service here ever. I queued, not being served, ignored, the queue grew, at least 5/6 of us waiting in line for the end till for drinks. The girl serving, stood staring out the window, with elbows on the counter, her chin on her fists ignoring her customers for ages and had already been talking to a man infront for ages general chat and again as if we weren,t there. Then she did nothing. I stood and started to boil, and waited, and waited, looking at her to serve us. the rest of the staff were rushed off their feet..Then she woke up and she took my order. She looked at my £20 note how she did and me, I said leave the cake, she said she,d put it through. I said well take it off my £20 note I just gave you leaving 2 lattes. She said she couldn,t I said why, she said it will take 5 days to come back to you? I gave you a £20 note not a bank card! I then said forget it give me the £20 back cancel the lot, she said she can,t, I said you can. She then waited for change as there wasn,t any, but I said again, just give me my £20 back I paid cash. She hadn,t a clue, why wait for change if Id paid by card. I thought then it was a problem from ordering. The queue then was several. The lady next to me felt annoyed at the service. Who would employ her. My daughter would of been sacked at work for that in London. We left. My mum said what was she doing you were ages? Don,t know, but won,t be meeting in there again. We went elsewhere and the service was amazing, glad we left. I phoned the manager later. Unbelieveable. The reviews here aren,t good, no wonder. It,s changed so much.

Bought two steak pies a latte and a hot chocolate to eat in
Hot chocolate was barely warm. Latte was just OK.
As soon as we cut into the pies instead of a nice rich filling which you expect with a steak pie.it was rather insipid looking. We should have sent them back. Three hours later both of us are regretting our visit. Reflux and not a nice stomach. Cost £17

I've just visited Chatwins in Alsager and as usual, the foods ok but the service is appalling. They operate a two serve counter, one side for eating in and one side for takeaway. The trouble is there was only one person serving on the takeaway side.
The lady in front of me was faffing so she had taken up the server so I was left to wait, first one person came in then another until there were 5 people waiting to be served, then one of the people milling about being "busy" noticed the queue and instead of apologising for the wait just shouted out "NEXT" at the top of her voice.I got served with no pleasantries or please and thankyou. They wonder why they get 2.9 score, I was going to give them a 2 star rating but the cakes were nice, the "hot" food wasn't!!!!

Just stopped at Chatwins Sandymoor and bought a meat and potato pie £2.90!
It was disgusting the pastry was rock hard and the filling was literally a spoon full unfortunately I had to put it in the bin never heard of them before but they are crap no wonder Greggs do so well with this kind of overpriced rubbish around.

Shocking bad! Especially "Fully loaded Pork Wrap". I would NEVER wish anyone to be so dissapointed and HUNGRY as I am atm.
Wrap for almost £10 looks like vomit!

Poor organization in Alsager queuing up in 2 ques very slow service and the staff look like they don't want to be there. Sad really I won't go there again

Visited the Prescot shop for a carvery bun as friends had said how lovely it was. Placed the order and was told to take a seat and they would bring it over. I was the only customer in the shop but it still took about 10 mins for the girl to bring it over. I got hot pork and stuffing with onion on a white barm. It should have been delicious but it wasnt, the pork was full of fat and un eatable. I told the girl and all she said was "ahh sorry about that". I paid over £8 for something I wouldnt even give to the dog. Poor customer service. My first visit and I will never go back,

I visited Chatwins Sandbach on Monday 2 December and ordered a turkey sandwich on a seeded roll with cranberry, it was very nice but at just under £9, I felt totally ripped off. No stuffing, no extra trimmings. Just turkey and cranberry sauce. I felt everything was overpriced. It was my first visit there and I came away feeling totally let down.

Just purchased a so called Cheese and onion
( more like potato and onion) pasty from this shop in Crewe near George IV playing field. It was cold and I was told they would need to put it in an oven/microwave contraption if I wanted it warm. I asked why not under an hotplate to keep it warm as you do in other shops. I was told that you are phasing hotplates out for this other method of warming in all you outlets. Absolutely stupid idea. 1: it come out all soggy as does any pie or pasty when cooked in a Microwave( although this is not strictly a microwave if turns out the same soggy tasteless mess). 2: It also means the customer is waiting longer and that your member of staff is engaged in a pointless exercise when they could be serving customers instead of re-heating products that turn out disgusting in flavour and texture. Your products have slowly and sneakily crept up in price over the years whilst the product (filling in this case a Cheese and onion filling) has deteriorated in quality. How much percentage of cheese do you legally have to include to call it a cheese and onion pasty? More like a Potato and onion and cheese essence pasty would be a more honest title. Clive.

Staff were not particularly welcoming, service was slow and very expensive. Won't be returning as there are better places, more reasonably priced in Prescot.

The food looks great and its good for people who want an alternative for Greggs etc.

However, do not be fooled by their guise that it is a fresh bakery. It is not. The amount of e-numbers in the breads is frightening and whilst the loafs are big and fluffy, they lack any flavour.

I believe this is not a bakery, just a heat-it-upper.

We called in at the Newcastle Bakery at 5 past 10 this morning and the girl stood looking at us never moved a muscle just stud there smiling never approached us we waited until twenty past ten then we said to her we carnt wait any longer she just smiled as we walked out as I was on the 30 min parking she could have been a ghost or we were invisible poor service.

Sausage rolls were soggy when bought warm , went in very early only a few on sale? returned an hour later to return them as they should be crispy.
On my return the display was full with not as crispy sausage rolls!!
Were my original sausage rolls yesterdays
warmed up.

I read the review with interest over the hope farm branch.
I am a regular patriot of this shop and my experience is completely different. It's a small friendly and very busy shop, with excellent food . The staff taking time to give quality service and time. I have always felt very welcomed and valued and have never intentionally been ignored. I would encourage all to go to this branch.

We often enjoy Chatwins for snacks and treats, but I'll not bother with the Hope Farm Road branch again (Ellesmere Port). I've always found their service to be blunt and less than polite after many visits, but a few days ago I stood in store for about three minutes with just one woman my side of the counter and three members of staff. Two chit-chatting with the woman and one keeping busy. None of the staff bothered to say hello or offer service, so after those few minutes I left. No courtesy at all....No problems with other Chatwins, but won't be return to that one again.

40 High Street, The Square, Nantwich- Excellent quality food with friendly service. Could not fault them, both for hospitality and quality of food. It was on the day of the farmer's market with the Town Cryer about. We have known this shop since it was founded, and it has only become better even with the pandemic, and the crisis made by putain. What a dream...
