I just returned from the Galápagos Islands (North), solo female, and it was the best trip of my life (in 54 years of travel). The key to it being the best trip was the people involved in organizing my trip. Manuela Alves, Destination
Expert, from Columbus Travel, 1-877-657-4447, was a patient angel, who: helped me determine the best Galapagos trip for me, answered everyone of my questions with rapid turnaround and helped me with all my travel logistics. When I stepped off the plane in Quito, Ecuador, I am non-Spanish speaking but was never alone to struggle because Manuela and Lesly Sandoval, of Columbus Travel, were providing me with step by step directions via WhatsApp and I could speak to them, if needed. They did an awesome job of having everything preplanned for me: my ride from the airports to hotel to the ship and back, my airline tickets to the Galapagos and the paperwork required for permission to visit the islands. The another shout out to the staff on the Nemo II ship! Leon, our guide, who lived on Santa Cruz Island, was very knowledgeable about the Galapagos and did an excellent job of keeping us safe during all the snorkeling (usually twice a day), hiking (usually twice a day) and dingy tours. Plus, he had a great sense of humor. The 5 remaining crew were wonderful. The captain was very approachable, the cook prepared gourmet meals for us three times a day, Johnny, our bartender, BTW the drinks were very reasonably priced, always had fresh squeezed fruit juice for us upon return to the boat and served our meals with expertise, and the two remaining crew members joyfully filled in wherever they were needed. I had to cancel my trip a day before I was due to depart having paid in full my flights, accommodation and train tickets due to my mother having an accident.
I believe the staff handling my claim are based in South Africa.
Despite giving all the particulars in my initial claim, I was asked to provide further documentation which was a hassle, but a reasonable request.
I did this, and after a phone call from Columbus concerning a problem they had with my claim, we quickly came to a compromise.
They paid my claim in full.
All through the process Columbus was helpful and even provided a call connection to the airline I was meant to use but couldn't get through to myself.

For ferier til Galapagos og Ecuador brugte vi Columbus Travel fra Ecuador (Har ikke noget med den danske Columbus travel at gøre).

De planlagde vores cruse i Galapagos og rundtur i Ecuador til 5 stjerner. Vi havde den bedste ferie vi kunne have ønsket os. Der var styr på det hele. se mere herunder på engelsk.

From the first contact was made we felt in safe hands. Gabriela from Columbus Travel took her time to listen to our needs and wishes for our family holiday (2 adults and 3 kids).

Coming from Denmark we feel that we got very high and professional service and guidance. Even with the time difference she took her time to talk to us out of normal working hours.

The end result was the most amazing cruse to Galapagos where we saw all the animals we wished for and more. The standard of the crew was very high and the guide was amazing. 5 star rating from Denmark.

After the cruse we had an adventure tour to the city Baños in Ecuador with our own driver and guide. furthermore we saw a lot of special landmarks in Ecuador. Stayed at wonderful hotels and all in all had the holiday of a lifetime.
