I needed Gas and Electric meter …

I needed Gas and Electric meter relocated due to garage conversion. I had a choice of Cadence who did Gas and UK Power network who did Electric. Reviews of Cadence were good so decided to get Cadence to do my Gas meter move. They were absolutely brilliant and did the whole job from start to finish, with good communication and responses and completed an excellent job. UKPower would only do the cutting of the supply and taking the new cable to the new meter location box---you had to get a builder to dig the drive from the main cable to the new box location, get him to install the new meter box, then had to get your own Elect supplier ( mine was octopus) to move meter from old location to new meter box, get your supplier to move the Elect meter,then get your electrician to connect back to the house. Too many people involved ALL at the same time, so contacted Crown Energy who said they would do the whole job. What a NIGHTMARE! The Untilities Manager had no idea what was going on. I had asked for the whole job to be quoted--she quoted just for the cutting of the supply and rejoining and to the new site. When I said i had asked for the excavation work to be done as well, she said she made a mistake and got in touch with UKPower( as a subcontracter!) and the price DOUBLED! She kept refering to the contract I signed and when i pointed out flaws in the contract, she said it was just a general contract and not relevant to my case! To cut a long story short it took me 6 months of several emails and phone calls,up and down to her before I could even start. They took all the money upfront, subcontracted UKPOwernetwrok to do the digging of the mains and reconnecting( which i could have got them to do directly). I had to separately get my own builder to fix the new meterbox, dig the access for the Hockeystick, get my won electrician to connect to new meter and back to the house, at the same day arranging Octopus to move the meter( they were brilliant as I said I did not want to be without an electric supply.) To compare: Cadence did the move with 2 emails and one site visit---they even rectified the reinstating of the block paving that Crown did badly! For me Crown was an utter waste of time and energy---wish i knew beforerhand. These are my personal views based on my experience

I have spent over a year trying to get…

I have spent over a year trying to get my electric upgrade from the network only to hit brick wall after brick wall and then get hit with a price increase. Looked elsewhere and came across Crown Energy who have managed to finally get it all sorted for me through one of their contractors. Could not be happier with their service.

Lack of transparency and poor handling of client trust

I would strongly advise others to proceed with caution when dealing with Crown Energy.
We engaged Crown Energy to manage a new water connection as part of a redevelopment project. Throughout the process, we repeatedly asked for a clear breakdown of third-party charges from the water authority. This was not provided. Instead, we were given bundled figures that were later shown to be significantly higher than the actual charges raised by the water company.
When transparency was requested, we were told breakdowns could not be shared. However, once we independently obtained the official quotation and invoice from the water authority, it became clear that additional administration and uplift had been added without being clearly explained at the outset.
Matters deteriorated further when we sought to engage directly with the water authority (as property owner and end payer). Rather than facilitating a smooth handover, Crown Energy threatened to close the application entirely, which would have forced us to pay duplicate application fees exceeding £400 — a situation we found unreasonable given the circumstances.
This was not a technical failure, but a breakdown in trust caused by lack of transparency and poor communication. Had the true costs and structure been clearly explained from the beginning, this dispute would never have arisen.
Unfortunately, based on our experience, we cannot recommend Crown Energy and believe others should be fully aware of how situations like this may be handled before committing.

Not much to say nasty people they dont listen they dont care, they don,t follow. they keep saying you sign contract. no evdence for any details how agreemnt been made. especially wesley apparently he call himself a manager. I will call something but i guest he suits him that role very well as clearly all mater sign contract dont care rest.

Electric & Domestic water dupply Ranby…

Rheann was my first contact and from then to now has been clear in what would happen.
Has extended our installation date & been very understanding, due to unforseen circumstances at our end.

I would highly recommend Crown Energy for any utility installation.

Fantastic Team

The lady who i spoke to on the phone was very friendly and polite. Quick to respond to all my questions while keeping me in the loop of how far through the process we are including what stage is next and why certain tasks have to be finished before starting the next!

Worst Experience ever !!

Worst Experience ever !!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I was charged more than twice the amount for my electricity mains and they messed the whole job up and delayed it 3 months !! I then contacted UK Power myself and booked it in with ease and had my mains power installed for £6,000.00 plus less within 2 weeks. UK Power was excellent to deal with. only problem is that i lost £12,000.00 with Crown Energy, I HAVE BEEN CHEATED BY CROWN ENERGY !!!:(. Just go direct and save the time and money and stress they cause !!!

Jack Winrow provided quality service

Jack Winrow contacted us proactively, always called back, did what he did he said he would in a timely manner, had a can do attitude when we encountered issues with the energy suppliers meter fitter and resolved them quickly. Compared with dealing directly with an energy supplier it was easier, faster and much less stressful. Worth the money in my view.

Worst experience I've ever had!

From reading through the reviews, I can see the experience is more or less the same across the board.

As for me, I paid Crown Energy a lot of money to organise water, gas and electric installation on my site. Communication for the first two months was good, as this was the paperwork stage. Then it all went wrong.

I chased Crown Energy for weeks, calling multiple times a day with no response from Crown Energy. To make it worse, they called after a long while to inform me that the cost of the works had increased and that I needed to pay the difference. After a lot of heater phone calls, we had to pay the difference, or else we would get a partial refund.

Aside this, Crown Energy was very poor in chasing the third party engineers that were doing the actual work and would sometimes relay incorrect messages from the engineers. In the end, I had to bypass Crown Energy and went straight to Cadent to organise the completion of installation on my site. To my surprise, working with Cadent was straightforward. I should have done this from the start and not gone with Crown Energy.

My experience with Crown Energy has been my worst so far. Never thought a company could be this bad!

Crown Energy owe me £180

Crown Energy owe me £180. I paid £720 for a smart meter installation in may. Jessica Murphy emailed me and told me that my meter was being fitted on 25 June. No one came and Jessica didn’t reply to my emails asking where my meter is. I asked for a refund because I hadn’t received the service that I paid for and I received £540…. They charged me 25% cancellation fee. I DIDNT CANCEL.. I never received the service that I paid for

Helpful Danage Limitation

Jess and Tegan worker tenaciously in helping to resolve dealings with UKPN who made a a hash of our survey. They failed to recognise that a live service was in place and we dug trenching that was unnecessary. Crown Energy helped resolve these issues.

Advice sought and received!

We have been pressured by an energy network supplier into downgrading our site requirements. Wesley gave us fast, factual advice which we will be taking back to support our claim.
I can only highly recommend the service we received.

Trading under Crown Utilities now

Trading under Crown Utilities now, probably because of the poor reviews! I had read the poor reviews but the sales team was very persuasive and gave lots of reassurances of a 2-4 week completion. More fool me because we've been waiting 2 months and still no date for installation of a 3 phase meter. Heart breaking really having been lied to and wasting our money but have no where to go to solve the issue and no recourse from the company! Wes Aldred, Bart Slupski - you're named and shamed until this gets resolved. Maybe your Management team might step in now, but I doubt it.

Dreadful company they haven’t replied…

Dreadful company they haven’t replied to my comments about a forged signature and the way they passed my account onto UGP at an extortionate meter standing cost of £3.40 per day and 33p per kwh my complaint is now on its way to the ombudsman Be very careful as they are not honest.

Completely Useless - Don't waste your time or money

Tried to get a meter installed - gave up as they could not stick to their agreed timescales - Promised a refund and was sent their customer list, profitability by job and projects in trouble (There are a few) Still no sign of a refund - tried three times to contact their CEO but they don't talk to customers

Nothing after 8 weeks

I wanted a 3 phase connection to a new house in Cornwall. On 18 November 2022 I signed an engagement with Crown Energy and paid £900 for them to sort this out. Nothing has happened since. The account manager left. 8 weeks of calls, emails, reassurances - all friendly and helpful sounding enough (hence the second star) - but nothing has actually resulted. No date for installation; nothing.
