Hilary undertook the legal work to sell my mother's property. I am a solicitor myself and can confirm Hilary is a very breed in the world of conveyancing: precise, proactive, diligent and incredibly responsive. Throughout the various swings and roundabouts of the sale (which ended up taking over 12 months), Hilary was the one person I always had total faith in to deliver. Instruct her. You will not be disappointed.

I had the misfortune to temp at this firm awhile ago and left after 1 day. One of the partners based himself in the same room as the secretaries and monitored their every move all day long, constantly watching them. It was awful, creepy and created a an awful dictatorial atmosphere as if the secretaries couldn't be trusted to get on with their jobs without being constantly watched over. Very bizarre. Also, they didn't want to pay the going rate for good legal secretaries and tried to haggle the rate down with the agency who put me forward to work there. They wanted to pay much less than the going rate so if that's still what they do (and I suspect it is) then anyone who knows their worth would never work there unless they were absolutely desperate for a job.

The firm used to be owned by Douglas Wemyss, who had it for years in Bowling Green Street, Leicester, and also had an office in Loughborough. Apparently, it was then taken over a few years ago and the Leicester office is now in Friar Lane. Bizarrely, the people who took it over kept Douglas Wemyss's name (and DWS) as the firm name instead of changing it to something entirely different. As far as I know Douglas has no involvement with the firm anymore, and certainly at the time I temped there a few years ago he didn't work there. If it was still his firm, and he still worked there, it would be run professionally and staff would be treated well. Sadly though, the people who took it over didn't have his integrity and decency.

I would NEVER go back to DWS, either to work or as a client, and I absolutely could NOT recommend them.

My partner and I recently used DWS Legal to assist us with purchasing our first home recently and we were really happy with the service we received and how the transaction was dealt with by the team. We were pretty nervous about the process, particularly when buying in the middle of the COVID pandemic which we worried would make the process even more difficult. But my conveyancer Lorna Hegarty and her assistant Bhavisha Nandha were very helpful and dealt with everything in a very professional and efficient manner. They made the process of buying a house painless and dealt with any enquiries we had during the transaction with aplomb. Thanks to their hard work we we able to complete in a good time with minimal fuss or stress and allowed us to concentrate more about the decorating and furniture than the move itself.

I would definitely reccommend their services to other potential homebuyers and would certainly use their services again in the future.

The go to people if you’re dealing with buying or selling , they gave me a quote and unlike other solicitors I’ve dealt with they stuck to it on completion. Also the only firm I’ve dealt with who you are able to call and get precise information about where your upto in the transaction.

DWS Legal feedback

This company was allocated to me via Quitannce. And from day 1 my experience with DWL legal was awful. They have some staff who are highly arrogant. If you try to get hold of them on phone or email they don't bother replying. Possibly DWL legal is a very big company that does not bother about their new clients as they might have big corporates as their clients. I had to raise my voice and then they got active and allocated someone to my case.

During my conveyancing, I tried reaching out to them on phone but they do not have any setup where you can leave a voicemail. Even the seller party solicitor confirmed they have found DWS Legal as not best in the business. They completely want to ignore your phone and only expect you to write an email. With every email, you get an auto-reply of 3 pages long, and then your allocated solicitor will reply to your original email. They will not turn their auto-reply off even if they are available. So they try to keep themself safe legally by sending auto-reply so that you cannot take any action against them for any delay. Very clever!

Emails were answered promptly, guidance was given regarding the paperwork as we were first time buyers and needed a bit of help. Very kind advisor Hilary was always at the other end of a phone or email if we needed help, brilliant solicitors

A little nerve racking at times with selling my house, but when personal circumstances changed Hilary Curz kept me in the loop and showed great patence through out, Thank you Hilary, the stress levels are going down now.

Chaz is brilliant as always, as is his team with Samantha and Natalie. They are professional, efficient and the process has always been swift with no issues.

Their staff have too much work and are care-free and make plenty of mistakes and won't reply to calls/emails so massive delays. Won't use again.

After 3 weeks of dealing with these incompetent individuals, I asked to have a different solicitors as we kept going round in circles. Literally, every time I called them I would get asked if I wanted a starter pack. Thanks to DWS, the entire house sale took 4 months, as 3-4 weeks of that was spent chasing our tails with DWS. Estate agents seem to go for these cheap conveyancing sweatshops as they make money charging you more than the actual cost. I would highly recommend going local and paying a bit more.

Myself and my family have used DWS Legal for a number of years in a number of different departments.

Our most recent transactions (a sale and a purchase of a property) were handled by Chaz Thandi and his wonderful team, Natalie Swift & Luke Shipley.

We were concerned that the current circumstances may have had a negative impact on our move but despite the global pandemic and the impact on the legal sector from this, the transaction was a breeze from start to finish and we couldn't be more thankful for the excellent service that we received during this time. They kept us up to date throughout the transaction and completed the transaction in a more than timely manner- in fact it was quicker than any of our previous moves! They were always on hand to answer our queries and questions promptly and were extremely proactive in chasing/dealing with the chain. We definitely would not have moved as quickly & smoothly as we did if it was not for Chaz and his team!

I recently used DWS for the purchase of a house and the process was handled by Sameer's team exceptionally well, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic.

Given the circumstances and a long and difficult chain, the situation was dealt with calmly and professionally throughout. Communication was clear and my solicitors remained contactable at all times, with emails being responded to promptly. The team kept everything moving along smoothly without having to chase them up and this helped to complete the transaction seamlessly.

We've used the services of DW Solicitors to purchase our house after they were recommended by a family member.
Even through COVID caused restrictions and various difficulties caused by banks and mortgage brokers, Patricia and Richard always were extremely helpful and safely guided us through the process. As we were first time buyers, they often went above and beyond to explain certain processes, timelines and the next steps. Emails were answered in an extremely timely manner and always courteous and helpful. The interactions with DW Solicitors were by far the smoothest of the entire procedure and we always felt in competent and save hands. If we were to buy another house, we'd ask for their help again in a heartbeat.

Poor communication and unnecessary delays. A great deal of stress. Unbelievably frustrating and disappointing. Avoid.

We used DWS's conveyancing servicing after being let down by previous solicitors. I was very happy with the services they have provided, they are professional, efficient and worth the money.
