Poor customer service

I ordered an item online that arrived damaged so I went to Macquarie Park David Jones to refund/exchange.

The staff who served me was inconsiderate and clueless on how to refund payment and was reluctant to assist me. So INCOMPETENT!

Also after the staff realised she processed the payment incorrectly she tried to blame me!
DJs would appreciate if you can train your staff to NOT blame your customer for not knowing how to refund payments!! APPALLING!!!!

Never experienced this at any retail store!!

Drove 2 hours to speak to someone in…

Drove 2 hours to speak to someone in the Ella Bache section to be told there's no one who can help. I was treated like I was a nuisance. I bought two products and the girls didn't believe there was a bonus offer - I had to google it and show them on their website. Then I still didn't get the bonus offer, and the product they sold me was not the same as the tester they showed me - after they finally found one. They kept telling me they don't have testers. Won't go back.

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of meeting Jen in the Accessories Dept of David Jones Southland. Through her assistance & patience answering my many & varied questions, I applied for a DJ Amex card. I have been using this card for 4 months now & love it!
Thank you Jen for all your knowledge & patience through the process. You are a remarkable sales person who goes above & beyond for the customer. I really appreciated all that you did. Keep up the great work & thank you again.

Surprisingly Good Express Delivery Experience

Sorry to hear all the other challenges noted here - I know the frustrations of having a bad customer experience :( I was hesitant to order online from David Jones but ended up having a fantastic experience. I ordered two pairs of men's runners via express delivery during lockdown and they were delivered within 24 hours! They were in perfect condition but sadly they weren't right for my partner, so I went into a physical store to return; it was seamless to get a refund.

David Jones Highpoint was one of the…

David Jones Highpoint was one of the most toxic places that I’ve ever worked. Management had no integrity and broke just about every rule in the book in terms of leading by example. Bullies enabling bullies -name and shame I will- Nursel, Adelina, Leanne in customer service would screen every staff member at the door and try and intimidate all the staff. I felt so sorry for the poor kids that worked there. What a terrible introduction to a workplace. Where was their “Bullying and Harassment” policies? They all fed off each others negativity and it still amazes me that they got away with it for so long. They were a disappointment to the brand “David Jones”. I wish I had filed a report for bullying when I had the opportunity. What a disgrace. Now, as a manager myself I use them as the worst possible example of management and pride my self on being encouraging, supportive and kind to all of my team.

I always loved David Jones
Reminded me of John Lewis
But have had very bad experiences over covid period
Really bad customer service
Long delays in delivery
Had to pay for return postage
Some products were lost 😠
Closing their food hall on Bourke was not a good move for their brand
I think the key will be to improve their customer service it is currently appalling
Workers are untrained rude careless and not interested it will destroy their brand

Retail staff (mature women in black) chatted to each other whilst casting superior glances at customers. They are indifferent to customer queries. Surely they are being paid to provide customer service?

Non existent customer service

Non existent customer service. On hold for literally hours. Appalling! I purchased online due to Covid and the goods are faulty. I simply want advice as to warranty process. No help whatsoever. I will never shop with David Jones online.

Rude customer service on the phone.

I purchased a egift card and called in regards to it. The customer service lady on the phone was so rude. Not polite or helpful but had attitude. "so what is the problem with it she said". I am sorry but such a big brand it is and there staff is zero helpful.

Awful online purchasing experiences.

The worst online purchasing experience i've ever had. 5 times my orders have been cancelled. One time they sent me a $5 lip balm instead of my $350 purchase, and most recently they left a security tag on my quilt cover. Customer service is abysmal and have ignored most of my emails.

Terrible customer service and packing

Totally disappointed as I expected more attention on packing and dispatch.

I purchased one dinner set online and the first that it arrived, I noticed one bowl was broken. However I have tried to exchange just the bowl as they sell single items, I have been told that I couldn’t do it as I bought in a set.
So I went to store and I got a refund, and decided to buy again as I couldn’t imagine that it will happen one more time.
Yesterday the dinner set arrived and this time two bowls were broken, I don’t what is happening with David Jones I expected more.
I don’t know what to do as I don’t wanna take the whole set again to store. I just wanna exchange my broken bowls. Is that so hard?

My Mother and I went shopping at David…

My Mother and I went shopping at David Jones in the city. We tried purchasing a dress in the designer department. Where I believe the manager of that department is Roula. May I just say that she is the rudest person we have ever come across. Incompetent and lazy. She Doesn’t know how to order or use seek and secure. Refused to help us as it was really busy in the store that day. Rudely ordered her staff members to order the dress for us and said it’s easier if you do it because I’m busy! as she was more interested in helping another customer When we were being helped by her first. Was told by her that the dress can be ordered! then was told it’s not available and basically got told to purchase elsewhere.

Luckily her staff member called another store for us and we ordered the dress over the phone.
As a manager I believe you should know all of your companies services, how to use those services and offer all alternatives to solve the issue.

This floor manager Has been heard talking about how certain brands don’t suit or fit (fat) people.
She is rude to her staff and as we were told by multiple staff members, she’s never on the floor to help her colleagues. Shops while she’s working and not only that upsets her staff members. I have personally seen them cry because of her tone and unwillingness to help and support her team. We are regular customer who shops at DJ’s and found out that the blonde girl who served us in the end had resigned because of the unfair treatment from her. This Manager should not be allowed to get away with this behaviour or needs to be Re-educated. Overall I’m not happy with the service and management team thanks.

Refused to refund/replace regardless of repair delays

I received a online purchase of a coffee machine back in 26th January 2021
Order Date: 26 Jan 2021
Unit did not work correctly contacted manufacture which tried basic troubleshootiing but advised to return to store for refund/replacmenent.
returned unit to david jones malvern, and its been nearly 6 months since i lodged a fault with the manufacturer.
David jones refused my ACCC rights to a refund/replacment esp since the repair was not able to be done in a reasonable amount of time. Rang DJ support Rachel refused saying its covid repairs take as long as they take when i tried to explain that sorry no the consumer can now insist on a replacment/refund she hung up on me.

Patrick in Menswear let the side down!

At Robina a visiting consultant from Joe Black went above and beyond to help my husband find trousers and jacket for a special event. Unfortunately the jackets were not in his size so she asked “Patrick” to source one at a different store. He was not very happy but found one at Pacific Fair and wanted us to buy it from him and then go pick it up. My husband said he wanted to try it on first and Patrick got all shades of snotty and rude. We bought the trousers which we were told there was a further discount on, which we didn’t get, and Patrick almost through the bag at my husband who was quite surprised by Patrick’s reaction. Not a good advertisement for customer service David Jones!!
