Simply awful customer service

Simply awful customer service or complete lack of it. I purchased a bike for €1,300 in the Cycle to work Scheme and this has been my expirience to date:

1.) the ordering and collection process took over 2 weeks
2.) No communication from the Cycle to work co-ordinator for nearly 2 weeks
3.) I had to chase multiple times to get a response and ended up having to escalate to a day supervisor (apparently Decathlon are the only retail store I know of who don’t an overall have a store manager)
4.) I collected the bike and found that I was supplied with the incorrect plug/charger in the box
5.) A replacement plug/charged was sent by courier and lost – but again I had to chase for an update on this
6.) I asked that a replacement device be left at the customer service desk for collection which it wasn’t and I spent another 20 minutes in store waiting on someone to find one
7.) I got home only to find it was the incorrect charger for my bike

From beginning to now its been 6 weeks and I still don't have a working bike.

I ordered an item online for store…

I ordered an item online for store delivery/click and collect and the date that it's supposed to be delivered in the store is 19th-21st of June. This was stated on the website upon check out. I took a day off on the 21st and was emailing the customer service since the 19th. The 21st came, I checked on their website that the item is already in stock. I asked customer service if I could just take one of their stocks and they can receive my parcel which is delayed in transit. I qas advised at that they are not able to issue a refund on my order if it has not been delivered. Why should it be refunded if the item is already on hand in the store and it's the same item anyway? I suggest decathlon to take the scheduled dates that they put on their system seriously as it is not very reassuring for customers who opt to go through online shopping to expect a date. Customer service was helpful and prompt but I don't blame them for this company's bad reputation as seen here on trust pilot.

Never any issues in store

Great place to browse around. Wide range of sports products you wouldn't think to look for. Scanning system very impressive and modern. Lovely little coffee station for a break while waiting for family.
This shop has always come through for me when I needed festival essentials

Decathlon Ireland

Unfortunately I have had a very very poor customer service experience with Decathlon Ireland.
I recently purchased a treadmill (Smart Treadmill T540C). Spent over €700.
Very soon after receiving the treadmill it started to skip/jolt & I realised that it was unsafe to use as I almost fell off it.
I contacted Decathlon customer service and was basically passed onto the “workshop team”. It really felt like I was just being passed around the houses.
Finally (after considerable persuasion) I arranged for it to be collected and go back to the “workshop team” for testing.
3 weeks ago!!! Still no word back on my refund for this faulty piece of equipment, 3 weeks!!
I have obviously contacted them to seek an update but they continue to ignore me.
As it stands I continue to have no clue on my refund or the status of the treadmill.
I would urge anyone to steer clear of this company!

Worst shopping experience ever

Worst shopping experience ever!
Staff absolutely useless
In fact I’d even go so far as to say gormless
Merrell shoes listed on website where not in stock and staff had no idea what I was talking about
Went to mens hiking.. nothing! Zero ! Matched the size it had printed
Womens hiking trousers in mens section
Changing room is a 3 day camel ride from clothes section
Around at the bicycle area for some strange reason
Weird!!
Bloody awful experience
Stay away and save the precious hour of your life for something worthwhile

SHOCKING SERVICE

One star, as I don't have option for no stars! I should have read reviews before placing order but here we are! I placed ONE order with Decathlon, who decided to split my order in two for no reason whatsoever (ordered three of the same t-shirts but in different colours, one was coming in one parcel, two in the other!). Only one parcel arrived. I've been chasing them for update and just being told "it was shipped, check with other members of the house!!!" Back and forth, order placed over a month ago and still missing half of my order. Will NEVER order from them again and suggest if you don't want the hassle of missing items, shop somewhere else! Going to have to contact my bank to instigate a charge back under non delivery of goods and services!

DO NOT ORDER FROM ONLINE STORE! ordered a tent for delivery and it never came, there's no phone number to contact customer service only email. They kept saying they would contact the warehouse and then out of nowhere order cancelled with no explanation from anyone. Absolute disgrace!!

I bought a box which was (per the label stuck to the box) suitable for use as a step. It broke the first time my 9 year old stood on it. I have now just tried to post a one star review on their site for the fourth time...

Handbrake on a canoe

I placed an order over two weeks ago , the items were sent elsewhere to someone else ,decathlon promised me they would send the items but they have not . After repeated emails I still haven't got my order but they have my money . What sort of shoddy service is this ? The order was a gift for a birthday which has now passed . I'm more than pissed .

Do not ever order from them

Do not ever order from them. I made and payed my order 8 days ago, and they did not even shipped the items before i contacted them and wanted the refund. They lied to me telling me my order was in transit, where i have received email from courier telling me they just received the parcel.
Rhey do not want to issue me refund, as they say it was in transit and it was not.
This stuff happens only in Ireland with every store, as the peoole are incompetent and liars.

Avoid if you might need their workshop

I have been a customer for decades, first in Spain, now here.
I have always found their products a decent quality for the price.
I have never had to make use of their guarantee before, but on other issues their customer services has always been reliable.
Therefore, when I needed a new bike I looked at their offer. They have this lovely city bike, Dutch style, with quite some nice features for a good price and, of course, under two year guarantee. So I bought it.
One year into ownership it developed a problem with the bottom bracket. I was quite ready to change it myself; but what do you know!, that spare part is conveniently unavailable on their webshop. Beside it was still under guarantee. So I thought I try it out, see how it worked.
I contacted customer services. They arranged for the bike to be taken to their Dublin workshop. And then, the story unfolds.
The workshop deemed a numerous amount of repairs and changes were necessary before they would even look at the problem area; including changing the back wheel. Though the bike was fairly new and I had noticed no issues there.
The repairs amounted to more or less the price of one of their basic model bikes. I agreed to pay but had to remind them to change the bottom bracket, which seemed to have been forgotten in the meantime.
Several weeks later I received the bike back, with a gear shifter that did not work.
I again contacted customer services, just to be referred to the workshop; who unsurprisingly denied they were responsible.
After following their instructions checking the issue, it transpired they must have damaged the gear cable when changing the back wheel. One of the unnecessary repairs they had insisted upon.
Photos and videos were supplied, and then, all correspondence ceased.
I had to contact customer services again to have them to respond.
And they did. They wanted to arrange for the bike to be picked up again and delivered to them.
Taking into account the amount of time that had passed since I last could ride my bike, and the possibility the bike may come back with yet another problem of their doing; I kindly declined.
I asked them instead for a very inexpensive spare gear cable to be sent to me, so I could change it myself.
They, of course, as they had done previously with the bottom bracket, argued some internal policy that prevented them for sending spare parts, even to replace those they have broken themselves.
And so the story ends.
Fortunately this is a part I can easily buy myself, and so I shall.
In summary, their products are decent. But if you are looking to buy something that may require their very inefficient workshop intervention at some stage, I would advise you to seriously reconsider.
Of course, unless you live nearby their workshop and can easily and personally breath down their necks to make certain their don't run unchecked.

lied to multiple times

dropped a racket in 2 weeks ago to be restringed. I was told it would take a week. After a week had heard nothing so rang them to find out what was going on. It took me over 40 phone calls to get through. I was told it was ready but when arrived it was not. has now been two weeks and have still not be told it is ready and have yet again had to resort to ring in. Why even have a phone number if they refuse to answer the line?

Beware of ordering online - used items being sent out.

Ordered in complete good faith a €200 wetsuit for a birthday present. A week later item arrived and I could not believe it - there was sand in the seams of the suit and a very noticeable tear in the material. Obviously a used and returned item that was then shipped out as new!!

Customer services apologised and said it was human error - find that a but hard to swallow - issues were very obvious to whoever it was that was packing the item!

All that was offered was an An Post label to return. I was not taking a chance on that so had to drive 120kmn return trip to go the the store and get refund. Birthday present ruined and all faith in this store gone. I will never buy from it again.

Order went missing…

Ordered a skipping rope as part of my post opp recovery. Never arrived. I sent an email, only to be told they had no idea where it was and would refund my money. No effort made to replace the item. DHL who was to deliver the item said they received the paperwork but no item. I feel i was not looked after correctly, no effort made to replace the item by either decathlon or DHL

Usual no stock

As usual, little or no stock in Ballymun. Supposed to be one of their "warehouse" stores - but not a patch on their stores in France, Italy, Spain and the UK, all of which I have been in. Items I'm looking for are available in Belfast? I cant "click & collect" as no stock. I can order online from Germany at a crazy postage cost.

I have ordered from decathlon in the past and never have any major issues. However, their postage cost is outrageous and it has put me off ever ordering with them again. I tried to order 9 X 10l fold up back packs. I already had some, these are about the size of a credit card. My order total was €27. Postage though? €20! Yes you read that right! €20. Apparently they have to be done in two packages at €9.99 each. €9.99 in itself is ridiculous but why should I have to pay twice this because they need to send to packages. Postage is advertised at €5.99 but apparently that is only of the items are in stock in Germany. Despite me saying I lived nowhere near a store they reminded me that click and collect in store is free. Awful customer service.
