The ceramics were carefully packaged to avoid possible breakages. The tracking information was very useful. The mugs were delightful. Very pleased with the overall experience.

⭐ 1/5 — Beautiful products, but refused responsibility when their own packing failed

I purchased five Bordallo Pinheiro pieces from the Brompton store, telling the salesperson clearly they were going to Singapore. The salesperson assured me they would be packed to the same standard as their export shipments. On that assurance, I proceeded.

Three boxes were packed by Divertimenti. In two boxes, every item was individually wrapped in brown paper — those arrived in Singapore in perfect condition. In the third box, the items were NOT individually wrapped the same way. Every single item in that box arrived broken. I have video of all three boxes.

All three boxes travelled together on the same Singapore Airlines flight under the airline's special fragile-handling procedures — identical carriage, identical handling. Two packing methods, two outcomes. The conclusion draws itself.

Before anyone from the store replies, let me address what they told me in writing when I raised this:

• "The box was packed to our established standard." Then why were the other two boxes packed differently — with individual wrapping — and why did only the box without it fail? Their own reply admitted the internal packing "differed in presentation."

• "You declined our insured DHL delivery." I purchased in reliance on their salesperson's assurance of export-standard packing. Choosing my own carriage does not excuse packing one box to a lower standard than the other two.

• "The courier must have damaged it." The same carriage delivered two properly wrapped boxes without a scratch. And they later suggested the items were simply repacked using the packaging that brought them from Portugal — which is not the export-standard packing that was promised.

• "Prove the chips existed before packing." Two items arrived chipped beneath wrapping that was intact. Divertimenti packed them and was the last to see them unwrapped.

What troubles me most: other reviewers here and on Trustpilot describe broken-on-arrival items being promptly replaced. When I presented video evidence of a packing inconsistency, I was refused outright and told the matter was "final."

Lovely shop, lovely products. But if anything goes wrong after you pay, my experience is that you are on your own — even when the evidence points to their own packing. Buy in person, inspect everything, and do not rely on verbal assurances.
