Excellent product and service

My retriever had her original rolled leather collar from Dogs & Horses for about 7 years. She wore it 24/7, swam in it, rolled in fox poo etc until it finally broke on Christmas Eve. I ordered a new one as soon as I got home and following a quick conversation with the company a replacement was despatched there and then. It has arrived this morning. Not the cheapest around but you get what you pay for …. Lovely product and excellent service. Well done Dogs & Horses and Royal Mail. Thank you.

Fantastic company

Absolutely faultless customer service. I ordered the wrong size collar (entirely my fault) and Dogs and Horses have gone above and beyond to ensure I get the correct size. Really friendly and helpful. Products are excellent quality too.

Excellent company to deal with

It was my fault, lead got damaged - left hanging out of car - no dog attached! Contacted Dogs & Horses about repairs, they immediately responded and lead sent off and returned (repaired - lovely job) all within a week or so. Free of charge. I can highly recommend this company, fantastic customer care and quality products. Result = one poodle with smart collar and now matching lead again. Thank you.

Great quality product and fantastic…

Great quality product and fantastic customer service

I bought a padded leather collar five years ago which is still in fantastic condition. The leather has softened beautifully and the collar remains totally secure. I decided to buy an additional collar to leave at the office but ordered the incorrect size however, the customer service was superb!

Would absolutely recommend if you're looking for a quality leather collar...the colour options are gorgeous too!

Total lack of customer service!!!!!

Been trying to for a whole week to get the measurement of a harness … at over £100 I expect to be able to make sure it fits! Beautiful harness but total lack of customer service means I will no longer be purchasing from here. If anything were to go wrong with the ‘lifetime guaranteed’ stitching, I quite clearly would be given no help! Would suggest having a serious think before spending so much ……

Real quality

The lead set that I purchased is absolutely top quality, my cocker spaniel has never looked so smart.
Really well made with premium materials.
Bear in mind that delivery is quite leisurely - but it was worth the wait.

Just brilliant

Just brilliant. When I ordered from there a couple of years ago Kristian was very helpful over email in explaining which of their products would be most appropriate for my dog. After 2 years one item had worn (as is to be expected from a leather item and a dog that pulls!) and I contacted to ask about a repair - which I of course was prepared to pay for. Amazingly Kristian offered to carry this out free of charge. With such gorgeous hand made products it seemed a shame to replace entirely. I’m sad to see such mixed reviews here as my experience with this company has only ever been positive.

About the mixed reviews, ergh, yes, we have been admittedly on the back foot because we are oversubscribed and in the transition of increasing our production and capacity to help ensure faster turnaround times - but not without a little frustration along the way. Getting there though!!

Sad to say

Sad to say, I have been trying to get hold of anyone from Dogs & Horses for the last week via several emails and answer phone messages to no avail. I have bought several beautiful collars and leads in the past, several years ago, customer service used to be fantastic. Don’t know what has happened now, shame to say, easier going elsewhere.

Terrible service, mediocre product. And now lying in their reply

This company took 3 weeks to send me a dog collar that appears very similar to the ones you can buy the next day from drop shippers on Amazon. It was only after I emailed them that they posted it to me the next day 🤦🏼‍♂️

I know this because since they took 3 weeks to supply a dog collar after my dog broke his, and I could not wait that long to take him out of the house again, and I ordered another one at Amazon which was half the price and exactly the same and come the next day.

Don't waste your money on this company

PS: Their reply is BS, I have all the emails dated as evidence. Upon my order (Jan 12th) it says 2-7 days for dispatch. I emailed them 14 days after the order (Jan 26th), they replied the 27th saying they are shipping it, and it was received the 30th. So they completely just forgot about their 'important customers'. Stop while you're ahead.

Really disappointed you feel this way Alexander. You are always welcome to visit our workshop in Kensal Rise to see exactly where your collar was individually handmade. You can also always just pick up the phone and ring us on 020 7018 0175 and speak to a real human being. To clarify: at the time of your purchase a red banner was running across our website warning that your order may take up to ten business days to complete before sending because we are oversubscribed. The collar you ordered took exactly ten business days to complete and was sent immediately on day-11. But Yes, take your point - the automated email that said up to 7 business days should have been corrected to 10 days in line with the red warning across the website. For that, I sincerely apologise. The good news is that we are cutting down wait times because we have increased our capacity and production though we remain a small family-run business still firmly in the camp of authentic handmade artisanship. Sure, it's sometimes despairing competing with the likes of mass-manufactured goods from China available next day with amazon prime, but that's not who we are. Rather, we continue to embrace true artisanship and setting ourselves apart from others and their opaque working conditions and disregard about the provenance of the leather, strict environmental controls and, indeed, animal welfare. This evidently resonates with many people which helps to explain the sudden higher than expected demand for our products immediately after Christmas. It's a challenge to keep up with but we rise to it with excitement that there are many choosing to support handmade with integrity by local craftspeople who live in the community. All the same, thank you for the consideration.

I love this brand

I have used and loved this brand for over 8 years. My cockerpoo not only looks great in her harness and lead set ( other dog owners stop us in the street to ask where it’s from) , but I also think she gets less matting thanks to the rolled leather.

My dog is now on her second lead set ( her first lasted 6 years ) with a matching little poo bag holder - which is so much more elegant and lighter than the typical plastic holders.

The owner has been so helpful- I needed slight adjustments and he has been incredibly accommodating.

I ordered an electric blue rolled…

I ordered an electric blue rolled leather collar for my Macedonian Shepherd.
When it arrived it was a wow moment, absolutely beautiful.
A few hiccups, but customer service sorted it out speedily.
Communication was good, thank you all involved

Terrible customer service

After waiting nearly 4 weeks for the collar to arrive. Finally it's came and as nice as the collar is, the customer service from this business is abysmal. Small family business or not, there is no excuse for not keeping the customer updated, Even a generic email would have sufficed, I contacted them twice with no response. Would not recommend

Ouch-ish. That hurts about the customer service Sophie but I do apologise your email from 15-Jan was missed. Thank you for appreciating that we're not mass-manufactured Amazon Next Day delivery however. Despite the red banner on our website that we were oversubscribed at the time you ordered on New Year's Eve, yes it still took 12 business days to make and send your order after the workshop re-opened on 6-Jan. We did send you a 'generic' email about any delays - might have gone to your spam folder in case you missed. Yes, it's a challenge keeping up with China and Amazon, but we remain committed to Old School artisanship, handmade in England. Maybe we are deluded and should abandon these shores like every other sensible small business. But we're trying. Persisting. Sometimes old-fashioned takes a bit longer and struggles to compete with immediate gratification and the slick messaging of Temu. Please bear with us. Many dog owners agree with what we're trying to do and we're struggling to keep up with the demand - which explains the delay flagged on our website. We have however taken steps to increase our production and capacity, despite the government's assault on small family-run businesses. I sincerely appreciate the time and trouble of your feedback, your appreciation of the quality of the product that was individually handmade, and likewise hope that you and your dog get many happy miles and smiles from the collar. A fair review

Unresponsive customer service after placing an order.

EDIT: Placed an order on december 08th. Despite indicating that the items are dispatched after 3 working days (when my order was placed), my package was only handed over to UPS on december 21st.

At no point did customer service communicate with me that my order was delayed. Conviently my order was finally processed after posting the first edit of this review. On the positive side, the tax were pre-paid and I did not have to pay VAT to the courrier despite their website indicating something different.

Regarding the item received, the collar is of good quality. The leather is nice, the padding is comfortable and the stitching seems sturdy. It also looks lovely, exactly like the picture.

Although my shiba has scratched her neck a few times after our walks, she seems to be tolerating this collar a lot more than previous collars.

Overall, I'm happy with the item received, but not with my encounter with the customer service agent who spent more time trying to convince to remove my review instead of apologizing for the delay.

The items are individually handmade and our website messaging for international orders indicates 2-7 business days to make before sending. You will have received an automated email from the website after five business days to reassure you that your item was in hand and to contact us if any concerns. As goodwill we sent your order (into Europe - which can be fraught with challenges) with all taxes and additional courier fees pre-paid to ensure it didn't get stuck in customs at this busy time of year. Wow…amazing customer service

Firstly the best rolled dog leads and collars on the market. There was a slight issue with a received order and after one email the customer service has been nothing but amazing. Kristian goes above and beyond for customers, kept me well informed and even personalised the service. I will have no hesitation to order again and advise anyone who hasn’t to do so, you won’t be disappointed. Thank you again!

Excellent quality matched by great customer care

I bought a rolled collar and lead for our cockerpoo and I am delighted with the quality. I realised I had got the size of the collar wrong and Kristian kindly sent the smaller size to compare at no extra charge and this turned out to be perfect. All I had to do was return the other collar.

A great product

A great product, the rolled leather harness is the only harness we have used on our long haired/double coated dog without hair loss or leaving marks. We have had the harness for over a year and even after this period of heavy use (including in the sea), D&H completed running repairs to the harness very quickly & without asking for payment.
