Eroded Trust
I paid €2.99 to bump my sofa advert on DoneDeal. Within five minutes, I received a message from a scammer wanting to buy the item through FedEx, and have since been pestered by them.
My issue isn't that the bump feature failed technically—it did move my advert to the top of the listings. My issue is that the only immediate result of paying for extra exposure was contact from a scammer, which significantly eroded my trust in the platform.
I contacted customer support and requested a goodwill refund of €2.99 given the circumstances. While the responses were polite, DoneDeal refused to show any flexibility.
For me, this isn't about the money; it's about customer trust and how concerns are handled when a customer has a poor experience.

Thanks for sharing this — and we're sorry that your first experience after paying for a bump was contact from a scammer. That's genuinely frustrating and we completely understand why it eroded your trust.
Unfortunately scammers are a reality on any open marketplace, but that doesn't make it any less unpleasant when it happens. You can avoid this by turning off phone/text as a contact option and using only the DoneDeal message centre where much greater security features exist.
