Do not trust DriveSafe
Do not trust DriveSafe. Once you give them your payment, they refuse to cancel or transfer. They are also much more expensive than other services without any added benefits. They will retrieve PII (personally identifiable information) about your family without your consent. They do not review their "terms and conditions" with you before a purchase and will lie and say they did. They are false and misleading. They make no exceptions. BEWARE.
I may be out $700
I may be out $700. I signed my daughter up for classes and was charged twice. I called to request a refund for the 2nd charge and was told it was processed. I was given a confirmation number and the money would show up in my account in a few days. My bank has confirmed the money has not hit my account, 4 months later. ( I know I should have checked my account sooner) DriveSafe said they would look into it and call me back. It has been two weeks since they said that and I haven't heard from them so I am letting my bank address it.
Drivesafe is a mediocre company at…
Drivesafe is a mediocre company at best. Their drive instructors preach a program that they themselves do not adhere to - outside of instructional circumstances. The "hand-Over-hand" technique is outdated and is potentially unsafe. It is best suited for truckers who drive large rigs that are steered using larger and more horizontal steering wheels. Their business model, which crams as many drive instructions as possible in a single day for each drive instructor can lead to dangerous circumstances as fatigue sets in. Many student driver are assessed and passed so long as they satisfy the minimum behind-the-wheel hours necessary to qualify to take the DMV drive test - HOWEVER, not all students who satisfy this minimum BTW time are actually ready and skilled enough to take the DMV test. The company has a high attrition rate and thus a high turnover of drive instructors who themselves take a cash course in drive instruction - lasting only mere hours, before being thrust onto the schedule and paired with inexperienced drivers. The burn-out is evident in most of their drive instructors. The mission of this company is not to properly educate drivers, but to turn a profit by conveyer belt processing of as many drive students as possible.
Very difficult to schedule lessons
Very difficult to schedule lessons - but DriveSafe have no issue take all payment up front. It's unacceptable to have zero slots in a 30 day period and expect people to book lessons months in advance. Utterly ridiculous - to new customers, if you do use this service, do not expect it to be easy even getting a session.
Avoid At All Costs!!!
I don't even know where to start to say how awful my experience with drive safe was. As you start the 30-hour online course, the site is very old and riddled with glitches. Throughout the course, the material is very poor to say the least. The same 12-second clip of electronic music repeats endlessly for the duration of the course. Instead of the instructor talking steadily and presenting information, the voiceover constantly pauses while a video of a hand drawing something finishes. In review segments, you are given some information to read, and a timer which must run out before you can proceed. It took one minute and 15 seconds (Yes, I timed it) for the timer to run out on a single, eight-word sentence. The instructors took about ten minutes for each of them to read various tongue twisters (She sells seashells and others) instead of filling the time with actual information about driving. I understand that it must be hard to fill a full 30 hours of time, but that's ridiculous.
The low-quality material is only one of many problems. The online course, which is supposed to take 30 hours, took 48 hours total to complete. This is due to various problems with the site. The learner clock which records the time which you have spent does not properly record. The timer would subtract anywhere from 5-30 minutes for every hour I spent in the course. Not only that, but the site is so glitchy that it takes up to 10 minutes to load to the next screen. I probably spent at least 10 full hours waiting for the site to load. The first time I called to let Drive Safe know about this, the employee was friendly and said that the problem was on my end. I ended up sending them dozens of screenshots where the site said that it was fine on my end, theirs was failing. This happened every single day I tried to log on. After the first time I called, it was near impossible to get a hold of anybody. After calling and leaving dozens of messages, someone would return my call saying the problem was fixed. But it wasn't. This went on and on for the whole time I was involved with Drive Safe.
When I finally finished the material, after endlessly fighting the bugs and glitches, the learner clock only recorded 23 hours. After calling five times over three days, I finally received a call from someone who said that I just needed to review to finish out the clock. But reviewing to log 7 hours of time would probably take more like 12 hours. But, with no choice, I reviewed the mind-numbing material for about 6 more hours, which only recorded 4 hours. At that point I called several more times, and FINALLY got someone who was willing to do their job. They set the clock to 30 hours, and I was FINALLY finished with the whole rotten thing.
Overall, Drive Safe has, by far, the worst customer service I have ever seen, along with their pathetic, agonizing driver education program. I have dozens of screenshots to show that their site does not work properly, the timer does not record time properly, and that it takes massive amounts of time to load. I probably called at least 50 times throughout the whole thing. Twice, I got a hold of an actual employee. Other times I left messages never to be responded to by the employees. Many times you call their number you get some random guy in India who has no idea what he's doing. I'm hoping that the actual driving lessons will be satisfactory, but as far as the Online experience and customer service, AVOID DRIVE SAFE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! After all, you pay them upwards of $600 for the program, and in return, suffer through a miserable experience and get treated like garbage.
The administration staff is completely…
The administration staff is completely incompetent. It is impossible to get anyone on the phone and if you do, they don’t make the corrections requested. My son took the defensive driving class in February. They never loaded it as he completed it, even though I sat there with them we’ve called twice now for them to fix it and they still can’t manage to do that and they don’t return phone calls
Online course is MISERABLE
The drivers training online course is absolutely miserable to try to use. The content is excellent , but the platform has so many issues that we have spent WAY too much time trying to get my daughter through the program ( hear more than 30 hours). At times of high usage, the program will lock up and be unusable. We’ve had issues with time in the program not saving ( even when we clear the history which you have to do each time). She is down to the last 5 hours, but I will never use this program again with my younger children.
Just a horrible company -- impossible…
Just a horrible company -- impossible to schedule - expensive for what it is ---- and the absolute worst profit driven issue (and you can see plenty of others have had same experience). They auto fail you if you go onto ice --- they took my daughter through fully iced up neighborhood in a crappy old two wheel drive car. She is an outstanding driver with absolutely no other issues but honestly unless it was a properly outfitted car --- was 100% given there would be some wheel spin/slippage. Honestly just torture kids to make more money.
The drivers are all great but OMG…
The drivers are all great and some employees but OMG scheduling is a nightmare! Occasionally, you will get a competent person on the line but it is a total crap shoot. We used a different drive school for our other daughter and it cost less and we got all the dates we wanted. This place- oy! What a tough time to just schedule in-person drives let alone the test.
Please choose another Driving School. Terrible experience
My family and I selected DriveSafe as a way to get my wife's Colorado driver's license. I'm not even sure where to start because there are so many negative things to say about this experience. I'll start with the sign-up process. You have to select a "package", which we chose the two-hour class, and then the driver test for $300. The cost really isn't the issue in the case. I chose the Highlands Ranch location because it's right across the street from our house. For selecting a date for the appointment, it wouldn't let me select one online. I tried to call the HR office for two weeks straight without anyone available to talk to. I finally (after the second week) was able to speak to someone on the phone. The representative told me that HR didn't have any openings for at least four months. In my opinion, four months is ridiculous. There were other locations that did have openings but would have to drive at least15 miles. I asked the person on the phone if she could have a Spanish speaking instructor due to my wife needing translation. She had her two-hour lesson on Saturday 11-2-24. The person giving the instruction that day was good, and provided less than ideal instruction on what would be covered on the test. Which is mind-blowing because it should mirror or at least be close to what is being instructed for the test. Monday 11-4-24 was her test date. We arrived and were greeted poorly by the staff. During the test, the test examiner displayed agitation, frustration, and aggressive behavior towards my wife in the car (Which in turn caused my wife anxiety due to him being this way). Of course someone is going to not drive their absolute best due to being treated this way. When they told her why she failed the test, they didn't have any compassion or ensure that my wife understood. They were saying, "You failed, and we need $69 more for the retake. They couldn't even explain to me what mistakes she made. Which is insane to me. I did pay the $69 but came back the next day to talk to David and another manager. I asked for a complete refund and was told that I couldn't. David said my only option was to try it again, and they would make sure that there was a Spanish speaking evaluator. He initially told me that they would have one availble for the Greenwood Village location (which is still far from our house) and that he is only available for one week (because the person is going on vacation). It snowed this week, so we had to cancel. David said that the man would be available the following week. Didn't hear back from David so I had to call three times to get a hold of David to verify that the appointment is still on. He then proceeded to tell me that it will be another month before he would be available. What?! Anyway, the only available Spanish speaking person would be in the Denver location (which is 25 miles from Highlands Ranch) Long story short, I had to do this one because I needed her to get her license. Long story short, she failed for the second time! The man said I couldn't see the results of what she missed. I will let everyone that I am in contact with to please stay away from this company. People are paying good for a service and aren't getting a return on their investment. I am at a loss for words! I can't believe that this is how they treat people! Over promise and under delivered at all levels! Stay away from this business.

The system is poorly made
The system is poorly made. Had multiple issues causing many inconveniences these problems should be fixed.
There are more honest drive schools
I went to the DriveSafe Driving Schools website last night to schedule my teens drive test. There was an option to pay, and because this is different than how I obtained my license years ago, I submitted payment for his drive test. I was expecting to be able to schedule his test myself online since I had just submitted payment, however, after my payment was submitted a screen came up instructing me to call their number to schedule the drive test at my convenience. Keep in mind, that nowhere on this company’s website is there any information or mention of No Refunds if you cancel. Seeing that they have a location close to where I live, I tried to schedule at that location this morning only to be told that the earliest date to test there was November 22nd, and that the Arvada location and Wheat Ridge location were experiencing staffing issues. I was encouraged instead to schedule up in Westminster at 120th and Huron and was told they have a lot more availability. I went ahead and scheduled my teen for a drive test for afterschool on Halloween. My teen found another testing location through another company that is closer to us and asked me to contact them to see if they had anything open prior to Halloween. Well, they did. I called DriveSafe Driving Schools and informed the gentleman that I spoke with that I wanted to cancel the drive test for Halloween, and I then inquired about obtaining a refund. He informed me that the person I spoke to when scheduling the test should have informed me that they do not give refunds, but that the credit is good for up to 2 years in the event my teen fails and needs to re-test. That’s an ironic statement to make. However, after reading the reviews on this location it is no longer that ironic. My advice to any parent or guardian looking to schedule their teen for a drive test, call first, and ask about their refund policy. Life happens, things come up and a company that is so rigid and lacks flexibility and understanding isn’t a company you want to give your business or hard-earned money to. I would advise that you call around other schools and unless you are desperate, stay far away form DriveSafe Driving Schools – Westminster location. There are a lot of other schools in the metro area. Again, only go here if you are desperate. Since my teens drive test was scheduled for this location and your people didn’t inform me of your “No Refund” policy that is conveniently NOT listed on your website, therefore your dishonest business practices have earned your organization this review. To every parent or guardian who reads it, you’re welcome!
Frustrated with poor service
It is bad enough we have to pay for this but the customer service is HORRIBLE, they will hang up on you if they don't like what you are saying then call back and pretend they got disconnected then hang up AGAIN. We can't even keep a class scheduled. Our son is turning 16 before he gets his driving classes done. If there is an alternative, USE IT. DO NOT WASTE money here. I have a right to be frustrated, they provide a bad service. The drive time they provide does not even give good experience. They do not give what they promise.
Almost $1k later for classes
Almost $1k later for classes, only for our kid to fail twice by boomer instructors. Now each re-test is $100!!!. Seems to me like the agenda to fail new drivers is real. Based off other reviews, the same result! Spare yourself the headache and stay clear of this place. It means something when the younger instructors are leaving because they see through the BS of this organization.
Awful, go anywhere else if possible
Go anywhere else if possible, unless you like paying hidden fees for everything. I had two of my four kids in this program, and I'll be putting their siblings in a different school. I've paid three times now for a defensive driving class that no one has used. I finally tried to cancel it, and then I was told that I had to pay an extra $60 or else my daughter could not get her license. I'm done with these people.
Inconsistent and disappointing...DriveSafe has gone downhill
DriveSafe is so inconsistent. My older daughter had a great experience with her driving test. She passed the driver's test on her second try. Both test times the driving instructor provided a grid sheet that clearly showed where she lost points and what she did well. Expectations were clear, the instructor was respectful, and my daughter took the feedback and improved. Such a positive experience!
Fast forward two years. The price for a test has increased while the quality of the experience has gone down. My other daughter had a disrespectful instructor who made her cry and rushed her when she was confused about the gear shift at the start of the test. He failed her without any clear feedback (just some phrases underlined on a safe driving practices handout). What happened to a clear chart with point spreads and suggested improvements. What a terrible experience!
I have two more children to get through driver's education and testing. I am considering other options. However, DriveSafe has a monopoly. They have not reached out to me to answer my questions. I am so disappointed!

Borders on a scam. They will blatantly take your money
This place is a scam! Paid to take a driver's test and no one was there! Waited 45 min because their office had a sign that said instructors might be out on another test. Called the three times, but of course it's to a central call center, not the actual office and when given the office extension no one was in the office so went straight to voicemail. After 45 min we decide to leave and call one last time to try to reschedule and they say that is not company policy and we have to rebook with no refund!

Sorry CO!
Sorry CO!
This company and its monopoly in the CO area is appalling. Is this why there are so many terrible drivers in this state? After having a daughter and two nieces go through this program, there is a major issue with this gem having the only market share for instruction. The system fails only at the most convenient times. Like dmv test day, so they all , at different times, couldn’t test on their days. Who do you get to share your concerns with? Nobody, because they don’t have to care. They have this contract on CO no matter what. Now after being behind one of their cars with an instructor and student in it, I am more worried about what is being taught. Not only was the student going an unsafe speed of 25 in a 40. They had instructions to get in the left/passing lane to keep up this jam in traffic. Please do something about this CO, you are creating terrible drivers. Plus this monopoly is not what this capitalist society wants or needs. Glad we moved to AL and lost all the fees we had to pay in as well, no refunds btw. Well, at least I can rest knowing my daughters will grow up as sensible, well trained drivers. Being they didn’t have to finish learning bad habits to appease a terrible choice in systems.

Speedometer on Test Car Didn't Match Actual Speed
I paid to have them give me a driving test at the Louisville location and they put me in a car with a speedometer that DIDN'T REFLECT the ACTUAL SPEED I WAS GOING. And THEN they directed me to drive this car into an active School Zone of FIRESIDE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL...again, WITHOUT warning that their instrument panel wasn't set correctly. If THAT wasn't bad enough, then they FAILED me for going over the speed limit in that zone because I was referring to their digital speedometer. At NO point did my test coordinator warn me to IGNORE the digital speedometer next to the dial speedometer. They later explained that it was a "newer car" which was "somehow" preset to list the overall AVERAGE of my speed during the entire trip. I only referred to the digital number a couple times when it was dangerous to take my eyes off the road, like in a school zone, and I just needed to check the digital read-out: which read "19MPH": a mile an hour BELOW the speed limit. Not only did they ADMIT to doing this, they claim they've BEEN doing this to people, I was the first to complain about it and so they've done nothing wrong. They're still charging me for that test along with the retake of the test, because I "failed". So far, I've filed a complaint with Consumer Protection Services, contacted just shy of a dozen local reporters and Monday I'm talking to a lawyer. I shouldn't have to explain this is dangerous and unethical to for a "professional driving business" to put someone into a car DESIGNED to test one's driving performance with a speedometer gauge set to ANYTHING besides the ACTUAL SPEED you're traveling and then tell them to drive through one of the most crowded and chaotic elementary school zones in the area.
