High quality and cost effective loft provider
We had a really positive experience using Econoloft for our loft conversion. They were really professional and provided clear and easy to understand advice on all the elements around doing a loft conversion such as party wall agreements.
The quality of the work was excellent and now a year after completion it is still as good as when it was first done. They were able to complete to work within the agreed timelines with now delays even though we upgraded some of the specifications.
We were really happy with the outcomes and the fact it came at a great price was an added bonus.

The second time we’ve used Econoloft
This is the second time we’ve used Econoloft. The first was on our maisonette and we were so pleased with the process and results we went back to them years later in our Victorian terraced house. We have gone from a three bed house to five plus an extra shower room. We use the room on the outrigger as an office and the loft room is a sewing room/spare room/space for teens to hang out in. It’s made the world of difference to how the house works for our family.

More space most successfully delivered
I had my loft conversion done by Econoloft in the summer of 2022. The team assigned to my job were first class. The head builder (Ernest) said at the start 'you're going to love your new loft' - he was right! And nearly three years later it stands up as a beautifully executed piece of construction. Ernest was attentive to my specifications and design preferences throughout and liaised well with the other trades involved - plumbers, plasterers, electricians, decorators. I'm so grateful for his attention to detail.
The team at Econoloft from the sales representative to the office staff supporting me along the way were kind and responsive. They held my hand through the planning application, party wall surveys, throughout the build, and during building regs sign off. Communication was timely and clear. During any building process there are inevitably, unavoidable hiccups along the way - in those instances the MD was at the end of the phone and a solution was swiftly found.
Another frustration with any build can often be the snagging process. All snags were scooped up efficiently and to my full satisfaction.

No pressure selling and excellent guidance
We were very impressed that when we first met Danny about our proposed extension, he was very knowledgeable and gave us great ideas. Subsequently there were no pushing phone calls or any sort of pressure selling. Good point. When we accepted the quotation we soon met the chap who drew up plans and helped us through the whole process of planning etc. Unfortunately there were some delays due to Covid restrictions but we now have a loft conversion with two bedrooms that we are very pleased with.

Superb experience, start to finish
Econoloft converted our loft into a bedroom and dressing room/bathroom in 2021. It was a thoroughly great service feom start to finish. From initial quote, reviewing drawings, sorting planning permission.
We waiting 6 months so their preferred joiner was available and we were thouroughly involved in on the job, live design adjustments, recommended storage we hadn't thought of or considered.
We have access restrictions at our house so no lorries, or cranes or skips could be used. Was no problem, all rubbish bagged, stacked neatly and they removed it at the end of each week.
Hardly came in the house, went straight up the scaffolding, into the loft area from day 1. Only the house when needed and putting stairs in, New interior walls and doors, and plastering. Couldn't rate econoloft or their choice of tradespeople highly enough. You will not regret chosing these.

Econoloft - Structural Loft Conversion
We found Econoloft at the Grand Designs Live Show in London and from that arranged a home visit to discuss a structural works only conversion.
From our initial chats, through to the design and build, we were happy with the whole process.
There were a couple of issues, first with original drawings which were rectified and secondly during the build a leak in the roof but the team dealt with these promptly.
Our biggest gripe would be with the scaffolding company who erected some of the scaffold on our neighbours wooden decking without notification (fortunately our neighbour was fine with this!), and on completion, they dismantled the scaffolding from 6.30am on a Sunday morning!!

Transforming our 2 bed bungalow into a 4 bed home
Having previously submitted a planning application for a double dormer on our bungalow with plans drawn by our architect, we were disappointed with the process of poor communication with the local council & subsequent advice to withdraw the application. We then chose Econoloft to manage the process on our behalf as they offered a total package of design, project management & build. We were given a fair quote for the whole project & were happy with the proposed timeframe of 8-12 weeks with a start date in early summer.
Our original design with Econoloft was to move the existing stairs to the loft room using space from a ground floor bedroom & build one large bedroom with ensuite bathroom & storage. However, when we saw the size of the room, we decided to partition the space to create two bedrooms as well as an ensuite at an additional cost.
Our joiners, Jack & Adam, were very accommodating to any changes we requested & were readily available to address things when there were any problems. They were courteous throughout & tried to ensure the house was left relatively tidy as we were still living on site.
The only issue we found frustrating was that the other trades (electrician, plumber) were subcontracted, which sometimes caused delays on availability & put the project finish date back a few weeks. We have also noticed a couple of remedial works after living in the new build, & understand this is probably due to movement & settling, nothing we can't do ourselves.

We regret that there were unforeseen delays in your build. We only work with subcontractors that have been thoroughly vetted by us, and our commitment to quality means that occasionally there can be scheduling issues at busy times.

That's great news. This is not an industry where we expect to have many repeat clients, so the fact that you have chosen Econoloft three times now is amazing to hear. It's hard to get a better recommendation than that.
Good builder
I got my hip to gable loft conversion from Econoloft in 3rd quarter of 2022. Reason for writing the review after 2 years was to wait and see the quality of build. I chose Econoloft by talking to their customers, visiting the projects they had completed. Econloft gave an approximate quote initially and after paying 3000£ (non refundable) made a detailed estimate. Its more than 2 years now, loft has no issues except few cracks on the walls and is normal due to movement of structure. They do their own design even though I had given my architects design. As per their design, they install the joists on top of existing joists which made me to loose 6 inch of head room but its a sturdy design. Their design engineer Stephen was very helpful and answered all my technical questions.
Lead joiner Sotir and his team were excellent. Sotir, in particular is very intelligent, hard working and talented person with lots of ideas to solve the problems. He did a great job, my architect appreciated his work. He could make many last minuite changes I requested without moaning. Sotir's tiler did an excellent work and our bath room, which Sotir put some brilliant ideas is being appreciated by the family and friends. I gave him lot of extra works in ground floor renovation. Only complaint about him was, once he got the money, he did not respond to egineered wood flooring problem (installed by his team) happened because of his plumbing team. And flooring board used for final flooring were used during construction stage and were partially damaged with lot of dents and breaks. I paid for new boards to be installed but the final condition of boards was bad. Carpet or wooden floor shall cover these damages was the response I was given.
I would have given 5 star to Econoloft but there were some issues which I was not happy with 1) increased the price by 2100£ after price was agreed and I had no choice to go back as it would mean go back 5 months in the schedule. 2) New material storage was left in rain with no cover till I complained 3) Supervision has to be done by myself, their team hardly visited 4) No proper shelter was done above the roof and couple of times rain water entered my living room. When i asked, i was told it will cost extra!
Econoloft completed the work in time. Good quality work and reasonably priced during Covid time. Design team is very professional. If you are able to superwise yourself and interact with the joiner and their office regularly, then I recommend Econoloft.

Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful review. We are happy that you are satisfied with the quality of your loft conversion. While we strive to ensure no problems arise, occasionally things do occur that are outside our control.
It is true that we prefer to use our own designs. This is because outside engineers, while capable of drawing up excellent plans, are not always completely familiar with regulation surrounding loft conversions in particular. To avoid delays in securing planning permission, we make sure we are compliant with permitted development rules, which may be a little more restrictive than what your own architect came up with.
Price changes may occur when delays between agreement and construction mean there has been a change in the cost of materials, or when a customer decides to upgrade those materials. We do ensure an accurate quote at the time it is given, but as you say, this was during Covid, and situations changed often.
We regret that we were not able to supervise more vigorously on your project, but this was again due to the time period and rules governing social distancing meant we could not always visit homes ourselves. We acknowledge that this placed more of a burden on our customers during that time frame.
While we do not encourage our clients to commission additional work from our tradespeople, we also cannot prevent it. When these cases come about, we do not accept responsibility for any issues not specific to the loft itself. We would not normally accept a job that was going on at the same time as other work crews are operating on your property, and our insurance will not cover our workers for jobs unrelated to our contract.
We are sorry to hear about the lack of adequate shelter. We had a loft extension done in 2022 by Econoloft. Although it took longer than it should have done we have been very pleased with it. It is a lovely space and is used as a guest suite. Econoloft did a very good job.
