Great training course with Bradley Ray
Great training course with Bradley Ray. Professional and ready to go into industry aware of the problems that might be ahead.
Friendly staff, good people.
Thanks for all the information. 👍
Thanks for providing the 'Understanding…
Thanks for providing the 'Understanding damp and mould and condensation' course it offered great insight, especially at a time when there’s increasing focus on this area within the retrofit industry. It’s so important to keep knowledge up to date, and this course made that easy. Clear to follow, simple to enrol, and full of useful information for a solid basic overview. I’ll definitely consider taking more courses with Elmhurst in the future.
When you will become a Domestic Energy…
When you will become a Domestic Energy Assessor, it's not the end. You can increase your knowledge by CPD.
Quality from Start to Finish
Having just joined Elmhurst I started liking through there CPD and further training! There course list is fantastic and the e-learning training is engaging and provides you with certifications to take on more work. The programmes are simple to operate and understand and any questions can be directed to there tech dept. With no issues. I’d highly recommend Elmhurst to anyone for training and lodgement.
Domestic Energy Assessor training review
The lessons were good and the constant feedback was incredibly helpful
Assessor Andrew Roberts credited by…
Assessor Andrew Roberts credited by Elmhurst
I have had a epc certificate which was paid for but the certificate is definitely not for my property
I’ve report back to the assessor that stated he might’ve got the properties mixed up but giving my property a rating of a G.
This was on the 3rd of December. I asked for the data input the floor plan and the photographs of my property that he had to create the report he has still failed to respond to me after our initial conversation on the phone he asked me to take photographs of the loft that wasn’t stated on my certificate the log fire that’s been there since the house has been built.
He’s failed to report on the certificate the underfloor heating he failed to report on the certificate the water tank covers along with the insulation in the walls after sending all this to him he’s completely ignored me.
I reported this to Elmhurst the body that credited him. They have failed to respond to me to after two emails and four phone calls. Please advise if you know where I can go next to get both the assessor and the crediting company, reported for failing to give a true certificate when I’ve paid for this information to be recorded properly

Just completed the DEA course
Just completed the DEA course. I learned a lot in a very short space of time. I would definitely recommend the in-person course with the 2 days portfolio assessments provided, it gives you a great opportunity to pick the instructors brains. Be prepared to do a LOT of homework, especially if you're new to the industry. I had Malcolm as my instructor - he was knowledgeable and gave you confidence when needed - and then Ajay Passan was my Trainee Assessor / marker. Ajay was very helpful, kept things light hearted and guided me well, as I navigated my way through the reports and submitted them for each assessment. Altogether, a positive experience.
Elmhurst DEA Course
The Course was delivered very well, food provided was excellent and felt we were given a lot of 'real world help' from Malcolm. Feedback and details afterwards were great from Ajay.
A great informative 3 day course
A great informative 3 day course. I had Malcolm as a mentor and he was very helpful and communicative. As someone with no prior experience I would highly recommend this course.
Great training course
Great training course! Malcolm was a great mentor and made the 3 day training course feel like a breeze. If anyone is thinking about energy training, go no further than Elmhurst.
Don’t bother to complain they close you case without discussion
Assessor registered an EPC with assumptions which were invalid. Having failed to get any joy from the assessor over his assumptions I wasted my time escalating to his governing body Elmhurst Energy. Not having 6 weeks to wait for there response meantime I requested another EPC and this time the assessor did ask question and the property received a higher rating.
Elmhurst then advised me that were closing my case, and when I complained that the case was still valid they gave refused and then worse also failed to provide any escalation process where I could complain about there failure.. in effect they feel they are the highest authority and they can do whatever they like with complaints.

Level 3 DEA…
Just completed the Level 3 DEA training course. A lot of reading and informative information to take on in a short time.
Had the pleasure of having Ajay Pasan as the portfolio assessor. What can I say, extremely helpful, quick in response to emails / messages and follows up with phones calls.
Made the process easier than first thought and helped me out know ends!
Thanks Ajay

Gem in the sector
I have been affiliated with Elmhurst since they merged with Stroma and I've only had a fantastic experience since. From assistance with regular queries to on-site training they have been a real gem in the sector. As I move forward as an ESOS Lead Assessor I am glad to be supported by the organisation.
Will Hughes- SAP course was great
Will Hughes- SAP course was great, learnt a plenty and had lots to take away and learm
SAP10.2
Very experienced presenter providing a clear and concise teaching experience. A little concerned that SAP10.2 appears to still be under development when compared with SAP2012.

Recently completed the online training course and had Ajay Passan completing my portfolio properties. Great experience from start to finish and the technical department were also very quick to answer the phone and resolved any questions.
Elmhurst - poor customer service
Most of the reviews on this site are from those trained as EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) assessors by Elmhurst, which runs one of the accreditation schemes for them.
I am an end customer of one of those assessors, having paid for an EPC on my newly redeveloped and refurbished house. I have not been at all happy with the experience and the way in which Elmhurst handled my complaint. I had an issue with the EPC rating but by the time this was apparent to me the assessor involved was no longer in the industry. The EPC says to contact the accreditation scheme if the assessor is unable to help. I did this but felt that all along I was being stonewalled in my efforts to get a clear answer. They insisted the EPC was correct. How could they assert this when they had not seen the property and my complaint was that the EPC did not reflect the physical evidence of the property? There are 2 types of EPC assessment. The most common is the RdSAP for existing buildings, which is a stripped down version of the full SAP, principally for new buildings. This full version can also be used for substantially redeveloped existing buildings such as mine on which I had spent a significant six figure sum. They also incorrectly told me that the SAP was not available for my property. I wanted a revised assessment. EPCs are a complex area for end customers to navigate and we should be able to get clear, accurate, transparent information from the accreditation companies.
I feel that their customer service was very poor and did not fulfill their obligation in cases where the assessor is no longer available. Clearly it would cost Elmhurst money to do this properly, but evidently that is not in their business model.
I am not the only one who's had an unsatisfactory experience with Elmhurst. On 8th September 2025 another homeowner (Michael de Podesta) had his story covered in a BBC R4 You and Yours broadcast. His EPC rating had gone down folllowing a substantial investment in energy saving improvements!
He recounts the experience on his protonsforbreakfast Wordpress blog.
This includes his letter to the CEO of Elmhurst and the CEO's reply. Michael's conclusions are not flattering and I would concur with them.
In the end I got tired of the stonewalling and sought a new EPC (RdSAP) from an assessor with a different accreditation scheme. The result: a 12 point improvement in the rating.
Given my experience I would not recommend using an EPC assessor linked to the Elmhurst accreditation. Alternatives include Quidos, ECMK and Bacra.

Home Energy Model- Theory
Good insight into what is coming in terms of SAP 10.3, HEM & Future Home Standard. Jason explained and answered the questions as accurately as possible at this stage when there are quite a few unknowns. We are hoping Elmhurst will provide future courses and convention guidance once we know the release dates.
Informative and supportive
The three day online DEA training course was very informative with enough explanation and detail to help those new to the industry. Malcom, our trainer is very friendly and approachable. He and the overall training team have been supportive and available when working through the post training day tasks.
Completed ABBE DEA corse
I have recently completed the ABBE Domestic Energy Assessor course and have found it a challenging and worthwhile endeavor. The course is full of technical aspects and was testing during tasks. I was supported by Ajay Passan who was able to provide the necessary guidance which is appreciated.
