An incredible villa, spacious living areas with the most beautiful views of the mountains and the town. Everything has been considered by Danny and his amazing team for an enjoyable stay. The gardens were incredible and the pool was just perfect. The only thing I would say is that to get those views you do need to drive up a steep, winding hill and it is 12 minutes into Nerja centre. But to have the space and peace is worth the commute.

We had a wonderful stay in at farmhouse in Malaga and couldn’t recommend it more highly.

The property was clean, beautiful, and thoughtfully prepared with all amenities catered for. We especially loved the charm of the place, along with its fantastic view and perfect location—it really made the experience special.

A lovely touch was the arrival food, including a delicious tortilla, which we truly appreciated after travelling. The host was also very responsive and helpful whenever we needed anything, including quickly resolving an unforeseen hot water issue caused by a storm - without any hassle.

We stayed as a large family to celebrate our mum’s 70th birthday, along with a 3-year-old child, and the property worked perfectly for all of us. It was comfortable, welcoming, and ideal for a family gathering.

We would absolutely stay again—thank you for such a memorable experience!

Our stay at El Monte Bajo was a truly wonderful experience. Stepping through the gate to reveal the garden and view to the sea & valley around Nerja was magical every time we returned. The home itself is tastefully arranged, well maintained with all the equipment you need to enjoy being on vacation. We were fortunate enough to have an extended stay and were thankful for the local folks that support Danny to keep the place immaculate. Don’t hesitate to reserve your time here, particularly if you prefer quality and serenity.

I have stayed in many holiday homes over the past forty years and this is the best one yet.
My family and I (five adults) spent Christmas and New Year in this very special place. It is located on a hillside with spectacular views of the sea, mountains, Nerja and Frigiliana. Both the house and garden are very peaceful and made us all feel very relaxed. We spent most days in the beautiful garden, soaking up the warm winter sunshine. Cooler evenings were spent in the stunning house with the roasting log fire. We admired the design of the house and all the furnishings which are a mix of rustic and modern styles making it luxurious, warm and comfortable. The magnificent kitchen was very well equipped and in the bathrooms there was plenty hot water and powerful showers. Danny, the owner was super helpful with information before and during our stay.

We have just returned from a two week stay at El Monte Bajo, and it was absolutely wonderful. Having stayed at the owner’s smaller villa previously, we knew we could expect an extremely high class of accommodation, but the villa exceeded even our expectations.
Firstly, the size, it’s very large. I think you could call it ‘sprawling’. Our party consisted of three generations and there was ample room for everyone to do their own thing, if that’s what they wanted. The large, cool terrace was a lovely area to sit in a comfy armchair and read or nap when the heat got too much. We especially appreciated the covered area by the pool with its own fridge, which had very thoughtfully been stocked with cans of drinks.
The house was spotless and very well maintained, thanks to the lovely team who visit a couple of times a week to change the linen and towels, clean the pool and tidy the garden.
It is full of genuine artifacts, which have obviously been chosen with love to enhance the rustic feel of the place. The garden is beautiful, with a number of ponds full of frogs who certainly make themselves heard!
It really comes into its own at night, when the coloured lighting and scent of the various plants make it a magical place. The daily visit from the friendly black cat who lives in the area was something we looked forward to, he just wants to chill and hang out with you for a while!
Overall, this is a wonderful place to stay with amazing views and every amenity you could possibly need.

A beautiful setting well above Nerja at the top of Punta Lara. Lovely gardens and views. All very well tended and maintained. We visited with 2 other couples and found the layout and quality of fittings very good. Its a little way out of Nerja so you need a car. Ideal for a chilled holiday with lovely villages like Frigiliana closeby. We all loved the location and its relative seclusion away from it all!

We have been having family holidays in Nerja every few years for 30 years and this is simply the best place we have found. (Except for its smaller sister villa Al Ladino where we stayed last year; equally lovely and with the same fabulous outlook.) We have stayed in a couple of other good villas but they have been much further from Nerja and from the sea. And we have found many poorly built and scantily equipped villas on crowded developments.
El Molnte Bajo is a top quality villa in a wonderful position and we loved it. Although below it there is a densely built area, it is high above it and feels very private.
Danny is extremely friendly, efficient and responsive and the other members of the team we met while we were there were equally helpful and pleasant. We had a problem with the internet while we were there - not the team's fault - the router had been struck by lightening it turned out! Danny was onto it immediately and constantly in touch until it was sorted out.
The view is spectacular - you get both the mountains and the sea, usually it is one or the other. The kitchen is huge and well provisioned, the BBQ is great and the pool and pool house terrific. So nice to have a loo and fridge by the pool.
It's perfect for a big family group.

This place is a real life Garden of Eden. Everything about it is perfect; each object chosen and positioned with love and care. The house and gardens have character, charm and beauty and there is simply no choice but to surrender to the majesty of the surroundings.
Nestled in the Andalusian hills, It’s far enough away from the local town to make you feel you are “away from it all,” yet shops, restaurants, and picturesque narrow streets are no more than a 5 minute drive away.
Waking up in the morning in such beautiful surroundings is so refreshing and every time you come back to El Monte Bajo - even if you had just popped out to get some shopping - the view always takes your breath away.
This is place that never ceases to delight and just when you think you have seen everything, you will come across some little detail - a tile, a flower, a secret cupboard - that makes you happy.
It feels so much more than a holiday home; for Danny and his carefully chosen team who manage El Monte Bajo, it is more of a really special project, a labour of love. The care and attention lavished on the place clearly shines through and takes the whole experience - for those lucky enough to stay there - to a whole new level.

El Monte Bajó provided the perfect backdrop to a beautiful holiday with our daughter and her new cousin. With four adults and two children the house worked for us perfectly, allowing for different routines around each of our children. The pool, garden and frogs are still being spoken about by our daughter, and the bbq by my brother in law. I myself enjoyed many different places to sit and ‘tomar algo’. The house is obviously loved by the owner and this comes across in Danny’s attentive and helpful manner should you need him.

I stayed at El Monte Bajo in Feb-March for a week; partly on my own and partly with my husband. I'm not easily impressed (I tend to be a little on the "seen it all, done it all" side I'm afraid) but I must say, no words I write would ever do justice on how wonderful El Monte Bajo is. This house is not only full of rustic countryside charm, but it is also impeccably clean, and every detail you could imagine is of highest quality. There is 100% comfort in every aspect: convenient parking, perfectly equipped kitchen, highest quality bedding, plentiful bathrooms, air con to keep the temperature just right. And oh, air play connected loudspeakers even by the pool. And absolutely beautiful ad tasteful design in everything.

Danny, the owner, is most reliable and genuinely interested in your wellbeing and comfort. He clearly loves this property and succeeds in keeping it absolutely tip top with his wonderful onsite team.

Did I mention the fantastic view, the spacious pool, the frog pond and the cat? I think you just have to go and see for yourself :)

When we arrived at El Monte Bajo it felt like we had entered a fairytale: a beautiful large garden with great views over Nerja, Frigiliana and the Mediterranean. The house is a typical Spanish cortijo. Very cozy and surprising with different inner gardens. Everything is well maintained, fully equipped and clean. Danny is a great host. He does everything he can to make you feel at home. Also his team of gardeners and housekeeping is extremely nice and helpful.
We would definitely recommend El Monte Bajo and would love to come back next year.

El Monte Bajo really is a lovely old farmhouse just outside of La Nerja. It was easy to find given the very thorough and detailed directions which we received from Danny.
It was very clean and welcoming, especially when arriving latish in the day in December. The owner supplied a warm welcome with at least 3 bottles of wine, as well as some soft drinks. A fritata, bread, milk and fresh salad were also left for us. It was all delightful.
The house is in true Spanish style, and very comfortable. The garden is beautiful and well tended, and illuminated at night very tastefully.
It's takes approximately 45 mins to walk into the town, where there are plenty of resataurants. The Balcon de Europa is good to take a stroll with fantastic views over the sea and nearby cliffs. The nearby caves are amazing and well worth visiting, and there is a good walk over the land above them.
Danny will give you some useful tips regarding walks and restaurants in the area. On his suggestion we ate at La Oliva on Christmas day, and had an amazing meal there.
The local people who look after the place were very helpful, and unobtrusive. Danny keeps a close eye on everything and is willing to be contacted as often as necessary should anything arise.
All in all, we would thoroughly recommenda stay here, whatever the season.

We have stayed at El Monte Bajo with the family (2 adults, 3 -almost all- teenagers) and we are more than thrilled. It's been so lovely!
The property, it's location, the facilities, and the overall rental process has been a true delight with a personal touch. Everything is beautifully decorated with a lot eye for detail.
The kids went out for actual adventures in the garden and discovered a lot of the natural inhabitants. Needless to say, it takes something special to get them away from their screens.

It's been truly a relaxing experience and no question remained unanswered by Danny and his wonderful team.

An amazing week at El Monte Bajo
Everything was perfectly orchestrated from the instruction as to how to get there to the attention to detail as to how to ‘work’ the villa.
The space was perfect for 4 adults to enjoy cooking , socialising , and generally having a brilliant ‘hang out ‘ space.
The house retains enormous character and has been sympathetically restored whilst having all the mod cons like good WiFi and a sound system that we easily were able to cast to.
The location was perfect for us to explore Frigiliana, The Caves at Nerja , Nerja town and some very secluded beaches and hikes.
The pool was available and we chose to have some cold swims - but I believe you can request for it to be heated at an extra cost. Beautiful and peaceful views and of the mountains and the sea - gorgeous sunrises !
All that is left is for us to return!
