Poor quality

From drivers leaving people at bus stops to buses being late more often than not the service provided is very poor. Wish we had the red buses instead of this. Add the fact the buses come every 1hour and a half past 8pm and you can see the service is not good. Plus the expensive prices compared to red buses. I’m writing this as I’m waiting for my bus that was meant to come 20 minutes ago, but it’s a daily occurrence.

I'm sorry that you are not happy with our services.

We operate in an area that suffers regular traffic congestion issues (being close to the Dartford Crossing) plus we still have a level crossing at Purfleet that can disrupt route 44. We always do our best and in actual fact, council monitored punctuality figures show that we are the best in Thurrock and are always above 95% punctual, however there will always be problems when the local area comes to a standstill due to a major traffic incident.

Our fares are some of the cheapest in the area.

Yes, our buses are not as frequent nor as cheap as the buses in London (red buses) but that is no different to most other areas outside of London and that is because we are not reliant on/ do not receive taxpayer support.

You mention that 'drivers leave people at bus stops' - in 98% of the cases we have investigated, it is not the drivers fault. Issues range from people not requesting the bus to stop to not being at the bus stop in adequate time.

Great Public Service…

Was a passenger on the 15:59 route 22 bus from Grays yesterday. Driver stopped at Aldi to wait for child in wheelchair and her mum who hadn't quite made it yet to the bus stop. Truly awesome service. Hats off to this driver!

Ensign are top

The drivers are friendly and welcoming, the buses are modern and well-equipped, but you get the feel that Ensign buses are ran by a small company. Everything’s so much more human compared to the likes of First. Top drivers, top service.

I wouldn't trust the bad reviews on here as most of them don't seem to be able to spell! Ensignbus is the best!

This bus driver goes by the name of “edd” was very rude to me and believes I’m an adult when I clearly go to school.He drives the 99 bus the Tilbury route and where’s a cap aswell as glasses.He didn’t want to let me on the bus knowing full well I had a legal ticket

Overcharged £9:50 instead of £7 then £4 extra just for getting off a stop early

So it was Boxing Day and went to
Lakeside on the X10 service then realised i was overcharged £9:50 instead of £7 as mentioned on the leaflet then without any mention at all I also had to pay an extra £4 on the X10 service just because I got off a bus off early

Extremely unreliable

The buses don't stick to their times at all and thats if they even show up to begin with as ive just had to wait another 20 minutes on top of the 10 i already waited because the bus i planned to get just didn't show up. And theres never any updates about it or explanation why. So inconvenient and annoying.

Edit: There’s a difference between the bus coming late and just not coming at all, especially inconvenient when I’ve planned the journey in advance using google maps or city mapper and im left waiting for an extra 25 minutes for the bus that comes after the one i planned to get

Edit: the information on google and city mapper matched that on the site you provided and i had to wait 35 minutes because the bus at 20 past didn’t come

Buses can be late for a number of reasons as they have to share road space with other types of vehicle plus there are often roadworks or issues affecting the Dartford Crossing that can cause such delays. Anything we are aware of, we ALWAYS publish on our Twitter feed @EnsignBusCo.

Rude, note swearing but aggressive

This is written specifically in regard to the Z2.

First off I need this bus pretty much every day to get to work so I must have used every driver who drives this route by now and I know there standards vary a lot. However when it get bad its ridiculous and customer service is a complete waste of time. To summarise some, NOT ALL, some drivers have a entitled rude manner which should not be shared with the public yet is somehow backed up by there customer services.

As a example but no the end of my issues with them Maybe my expectations are to high but I would like them to consistently stop at the stops they mark as part of there route. They seem to adjust is dependent on how they feel and dont tell people.
1 stop they use as a rest stop and do not pick people up from ot apparently, I was told this after I had used the stop every day for over a year and had to put in a complaint because a bus that was resting there with me outside the door and driver acknowledging me drove off and made me late for work.

Having now been forced to double my time to get to the bus stop, todays situation arises. I was told the buses where being split between barking and canning town, it's a common occurrence so I didn't think much when I got on however once the driver got to barking station he refused to go to any of the other barking stops. I said even the next stop would do, still add more time to my journey but it would mean it would be easier on my bearing in mind it's still not my stop and was told no I'm out of service now u need to get off, in a rude manner ( I dont like confrontation but this got my back up) . Imagine my annoyance then when I see him at the "resting stop"to turn around i imagine. Which is further than the 1 stop i wanted to go.

Every time I have ever had to deal with customer services it's always been the same person and the response is always the same, I the customer am somehow in the wrong and the driver is right when I am 100% sure that the matter has not even been looked into. I get protection for employees but they are working with the general public and basic pleasant speach must be a requirement no matter what time of day it is. I have spoken to many of the others who work with me and many experiences of a similar nature has been had.

The only reason I have not given 1 star is because there a a few driver who have been clear and pleasant even when having to make changes to the route.

Ensign really need to invest in there drivers attitudes and communication because until this issue is rectified more complaints are bound to be made.

Richard Sharp is the worst bus driver…

Richard Sharp is the worst bus driver that the ensign 99 Bus has ever had. He purposely drives past black members of the public when it is obvious they are waiting for the bus. He comes early to avoid picking up school kids. When school kids get on the bus he is always repeatedly murmuring "fu**ing school kids". When reviewing our tickets instead of his to just look at them he will take it and put a big blue cross on them then give them back to us. This is absolutely unnecessary and with Covid-19 going around this is extremely unsafe as cross-contamination can take place. I find it strange how he will take our tickets and draw a big cross on it then give it back to us but refuses to give change, whats the difference? He waits to pick up his friends and allows them to get on the bus without paying but if a black person were to try this he would stop the whole bus and wouldn't move until they paid. RACIST MAN. In addition, he makes up fake bus stops so that he's able to drop his friends off closer to their houses. When has this ever been allowed? Furthermore, he allows his friends to be right next to him when driving even though there is a clear sign of indication as to where passengers should stay. This is endangering all of our lives. He is not consistent with the timings of the bus and as stated before he sometimes comes earlier to avoid picking up school kids. If one of the school kids are eating something on the bus and he doesn't like the smell he will open all the windows and keep the bus longer at the ferry waiting for the smell to go out meaning that kids get home late. He tends to do this especially in the depth of winter meaning that all passengers on the bus are left cold. If you attempt to close the windows he will stop the bus and open them all again. This is not just a one time thing. Generations of school kids have been getting on that bus and not a single one has a good thing to say about Richard Sharp. He has the biggest ego I've ever seen and is a racist. He doesn't think about the passengers on the bus just him and his friends. This is not the first time I've reported him and still nothing has been done. Either he's moved so that he's driving a different bus where he doesn't interact with school kids... Or my friends and all of us school kids and my family take this up with the Police. Please make a wise decision and deal with this man as soon as possible

Rude driver on 99 Bus Tilbury

This is about an incompetent and rude driver of the 99 Bus named "Rick" he has repeatedly drove the bus away without collecting my children on purpose. On one incident he accused my son of messing up the bus by dropping sandwiches , ensign checked cctv, my son didn't do this and ensignbus had to compensate my son with a month bus pass. I have not been happy with the service by this driver for the past three years I have complained numerous times and nothing has happened but my daughter has reported another incident that happened today that has made me want to report him again, my daughter was late home today and she told me it was because the bus driver what's involved with the argument with the passenger who was angry that he drove the bus away from the passenger after seeing her which made her have to wait 25 minutes, this passenger had an appointment to get to for her daughter and he made her late for the appointment, the passenger was angry and he was unapologetic and mean. We are fed up with this service we no longer want him driving this bus because for the past 3 years he's been cursing them and been rude to them. This must end. This is not all that Rick has done but I don't have time to write them everything on numerous occasions my kids have came home reporting that Rick has doing something
Many other parents/passengers have had issues with this driver and we need them sorted.

I ran for the bus and the driver waited…

I ran for the bus and the driver waited for me, I thanked him and thought that would be the end of it, but he ended up making rude comments about how I am making everyone else on the bus late even though he was just sitting at the bus stop.
Then as I get to my stop I see he has the bus on "NOT IN SERVICE" and drove past a bus stop full of people waiting to get on.
