Nightmare-find someone else!

The technician arrived far before the arranged time with our tenants so they weren't prepared for the fridge repair. They charged $330 to defrost a line (hot water) and then after that said they found n'oxidized' circuit board that needed replacement. Said it would take 5 business days to arrive. They called to book the next appointment after saying that the part arrived, and the day of that install the tech was late and said he didn't have the part yet, after the appointment time! Once they did receive it 2 weeks later (obviously not 5 days shipping out of stock in Calgary as we were told on day 1), I called for an appointment and when the tech was late, was told "sorry, he's just running late, I'll have him reach out'. The tech texted me directly and said he was in the hospital! I confronted Express about deliberately telling a much different story implying the knew he was just 'running late', as they said they hadn been able to get a hold of him, and they had no reason why they wouldn't;t have just told me the honest fact that they couldn't get a hold of their tech. They refused to send anyone else out since apparently this is the only technician available in their whole organization and 5 days later, their tech arrived once out of the hospital and did the install of the board. Our tenants had to go without their fridge for 28 days. Ridiculous prices, poor communication, so many reasons to avoid this company.

This company is such a scam

This company is such a scam. Wish I read all the reviews about them on BBB and here before making the dumb decision of engaging them. They broke my washing machine, refused to follow up to provide information they promised to give, and did not honor the discount they said they'd offer in the bill. So far they did not provide any resolution except for multiple auto-generated emails asking for me to pay. And if what everyone said in the reviews is true, their business model seemed to be built this way - send in technicians with questionable experience, cause some screw up, demand payment regardless, then send a collections agency after the customers in less than a month (with the sum now significantly higher).

be aware and be careful with this company, it is a fake and repping.
about a year ago I called them to fix a fridge somebody came and paid him in cash, again the company sent me an invoice and forced me to pay. when I told them that I paid cash and asked them to connect me with the technician, they said no and said they trusted their technicians more than the customer and I had to pay another $433 more than the repair fee to protect my credit against the credit bureau.

They broke my fridge

We had a problem with our fridge a few weeks ago, and one of their technicians was able to remove the ice that had been building up behind the back panel, then he told us he had to order a part to repair the one that was malfunctioning (heating element). Their team received the part and I booked a second appointment. The technician who came had a hard time removing the back panel and I honestly thought he was going to break something while removing it (he says it was stuck because there might still have been some ice in the back). When he finished replacing the heating element (which took him about 10 minutes of work), I was really shocked to hear him say that there was a crack in the back panel and that it had to be replaced as well. The first technician never mentioned any crack in our fridge, even though he inspected it for almost an hour. Now I have a broken fridge and they're refusing to admit they broke it. They're dodging my calls, and even though every time I speak to someone they say a Manager will call me back, it never happens. Stay away from these people!

FAKE REVIEWS ONLINE FOR SURE

Their online reviews are all fake and paid for I am sure of it. Our experience was horrible. they CAN NOT REPAIR A FRIDGE. They came out and then charged us $170 (way above the competitors) and looked at the fridge. They assessed that we needed a new fridge and said it was because the refrigerant had leaked out. Did no tests. No real inspection. When I asked about where is their water bottle with soap or freon sniffer to asses that they said "We do not do refrigerant work". When I asked how a refrigerator repair company can not do refrigerant they said to me that was not what they did... but pay the bill. When I pushed back on that they threatened me with collection fees. I have now done further digging and solved it with another company.

UPDATE ON SEPT. 18:
4 weeks later: a technician was scheduled to come on Saturday. They called at 6 AM saying they had a family emergency and were supposed to come today between 8 AM and 10 AM. When it was clear they were not coming, we called several times and got the machine after 5-10 minutes. On the 7th try, someone picked up and said the part was still not here. Why did they schedule a technician twice if the part is not here? We have heard: "the part is here" "the part is not here" about 3 times so far. They keep $150 if we cancel, but we are cancelling because they are just striging us along. They wanted us to call the manager at noon... We have spent more time trying to call them an talk to them that they have spent helping us. They also want us to pay for the part that they or we do not have...
Review: very fast to come for first visit because they take half the total cost of the repair. 3 weeks ago, they said the part would be here on Sept. 8. today, on sept. 12 we called and they said we are 60th in line to get the part. now they don't know when the part will be here and once they have the part how long it will take a technician to come fix it. We have been handwashing all of our clothes for 3 weeks. they are very quick to take half the costs of the repair (250 total 500). we should have bought a new washing machine...also, the person on the phone was rude and unhelpful.
Update: i called the # given, was put on hold and hung up. They called me back but still do not know when part will be here. Person on the phone was polite at least. Should we just buy a new washing mach? 🤷‍♀️ if we do we lose $150... 😑 they keep more than half of the money we give them at the start

Disappointed….Unfortunately

Disappointed….Unfortunately, my fridge was not working and I contacted Express Repair to inspect my fridge.

When the technician inspected the fridge and said he couldn’t fix it. An option he gave me was to buy a new fridge. I was charged $130+ for the inspection fee with no resolution.

I contacted another company. They repaired the fridge for less than $300.

The worst service ( basically no service) I received in 27 years in Canada

I had a problem with my washer Blomberg: the plug of the power cord was damaged and the washer was working or stop working all the times.
I have called to the distributor of those equipment provided in the manual and they gave me few numbers of the repair companies. I choose Express appliance repair trusting that can get a quick and good service from them. But there were false hopes.
The technician came next day and discovered the problem but was not fixing it. I paid $110. He promised to order the cord. That was incorrect information. After 3 days of waiting, I called the company again. They told me that they closed my file because I did not express any words of continue their service which was not true.
Ok. They re-opened my file and ask me to pay $130.50 (50% of part)deposit for the cord. I paid on Aug 5, 2023. Also ,they mentioned that the part will be ready in 3-5 bus. Days. Another incorrect information.
After few weeks of waiting, I started to call them to find out what is going on and when the part will be available but nobody in Customer service picks up the phone and my messages left were not answered.
Finally, I was lucky to find the power cord for the model of my washer on Amazon and the problem was fixed.
Now I want to be refunded of $130.50 paid for nothing and again nobody picks up the phone and take care about the issue. Today is already Sep 12, 2023.
In summary : more than 1 month of false hopes , spend $240.50 for nothing.
I will never use this company again and 100% do not recommend this company to anybody.

STAY AWAY!

I repeat, stay away from this “repair company” and seek another professional and ethical one.

I have been experiencing Dryer Vent issues and after self-diagnosing the problem, I reached out to a (what I thought was) professional company for aid. I regret calling Express Appliance Repair.

While booking the service call, I confirmed with the sales rep (3 different times) that their Service Technician would call me 30 mins prior to arrival on my property as it was my rental property and I don’t live there. She ensured me that he would. On the day of the service between 3-5PM, I waited just 5 minutes away from the destination so I could arrive on time to meet and explain the problem in person to the technician and approve any further work (if required).

I waited in my car for 1.5 hrs and while coincidently checking my phone, received an invoice of $230 in my mail. The invoice was not clear. I assume the breakdown of the invoice is $99 for initial assessment and $116 for any further work – which was not approved by the way.

To clarify, I called the company back within minutes of receiving the invoice to understand what repair was even conducted as I had already done majority of the technical repair myself. I also reminded that that this was the reason why the Technician was supposed to call me prior to arrival on my property. The sales rep said that the Technician would call me back to explain what he did within 30 mins…He never called me back.

The following day, Express Appliance Repair called me demanding payment of the invoice. I explained that the invoice in invalid and incorrect. The technician never called me prior to arrival on my property (as I had been promised by the company), so by me physically not being present, I never authorized any work to be conducted, the technician took it upon himself to conduct the business on my property therefore, this contract was breached. After hearing this, I was told a “Manager” would call me back. This conversation happened on August 11th 2023 and I have yet to hear from a Manager. Today’s date is September 7th 2023.

Over the few weeks that have passed, this company has sent me (the same) numerous invoices without calling me back to discuss the issue. I have an active Voicemail on the number provided to them so they can leave a call back number incase I miss their call.

As a responsible client, I have tried several times to reach out to them to resolve the problem. I keep getting empty promises that a manager named “Michelle” will call me back… no one has called me.

They have now added another surcharge of $99 to my invoice as “Collection Agency Fee” making a total invoice of almost $340!

I am bewildered at this incredibly unprofessional customer service and would never recommend this “company” to friends or family. They have lost me as a customer.

Poor experience

Chronology of events



1- 9AUG2023: noticed water pooling under the fridge, upon inspection, the water tray underneath was full and over spilling, called Express Air, they booked an appointment for next day (10AUG)

2- 10AUG2023: Technician came, he inspected the fridge, diagnosed the issue with the condenser starter, replaced the part, and informed me that everything else is in good condition, and that the issue is resolved. I paid the full amount of $368.86. Warranty was 1 year for the part, 1 month labor

3- 11AUG2023: water pooling under the fridge again. I called Express Air, they booked appointment the next day

4- 12AUG2023: Technician came back, inspected the fridge again, he said that there is no issue, and that on 10AUG2023 he did not properly de-frost the freezer, which caused the over-spilling and water pooling under the fridge on 11AUG2023. NOTE: The technician did not seem confident in his assessment and diagnosis.

5- 15AUG2023: I checked under the fridge, the tray was full again and over-spilled, I called Express repair, they booked an appointment for the next day 16AUG2023 between 2 and 4. Later in the evening, the technician called me directly and said that he needs to replace the condenser, and that it will cost be over $1400 (not including tax), he told me to let him know if I want to proceed. I told him that I am not happy with this, the cost of original fix and the condenser repair is more than the cost of a new fridge, and that if he had told me that from the beginning, I would have paid the service call $99 and left it at that and used the money to buy a new fridge.

6- The next morning 16AUG2023, I called Express Repair customer service and expressed my concern with the technician diagnosis (on his first 2 visits he said everything was good, and once the issue was back, he assumed it’s the condenser without even coming to check the fridge again), I asked to speak to a manager and requested a refund (as the cost is more than buying a new fridge), the customer service representative said that currently no manager is available until September, I insisted, she said that she will call me back later in the day, and that the technician will still come between 2 and 4. I did not receive any call back, and the technician did not show up at the appointment (between 2 and 4)

7- 17AUG2023: I called customer service again, and spoke to the same lady from the day prior, I told her that I was expecting her call back and that the technician to come to the appointment, and asked to speak to a manager again, she said that management is not available until September and that they will not send the technician to do any more checks on my fridge.

I am still waiting for the manager to come back from vacation and call me

Stay away from these crooks

Stay as far as you can from these crooks, bandits, took the money for checking washing machine, said there was nothing wrong?,called them back made me pay for a part that they keep sayne in not in yet, I bought the part myself in a day. They are frauds dont call them, they dont return and keep your money.............wayne

Fraudulent company,be aware of these thieves. How the government is allowing these thieves to exist !

The technician did basic troubleshoot,but the issue of never got fixed. Now they never pick the call or they try to avoid the call , fraud company fraud people

Came to my unit twice to repair what i later found out was an easy fix. Turns out they just put a bandaid on it. When the problem occurred again they wanted to charge me for another service call. Modern day pirates, avoid at all cost.

BIG JOKE.

I did a self diagnostic my self and realized it was my compressor was failing. I know there was warranty from the manufacturer. This company sent a repair man (big joke) after saying they will go to the manufacturer can take care of the claim. The technician claim to the same conclusion as I did and said to call another company that can handle repair. THEY ARE THE WORST COMPANY I EVER DELT WITH. STAY AWAY FROM THESE BANDITS.

Never use this company for any repairs, they are thieves. Their technician misdiagnosed our fridge, all for them to charge us parts and service. The part still working up yo date.

The worst. Avoid them!

They are truly awful. I used this service for a freezer repair. The technician charged me, but the freezer starting leaking again the next day. They never replied to my emails or calls about coming back to fix it, issuing a refund or making it right. I would highly advise you to stay away and go with a different service provider.

Strongly suggest you DO NOT call this company. They sent a technician who convinced me to replace the parts in my dryer despite its age.
Less than a month later, after another issue with the same dryer, they charged me for the service call just to tell me the dryer is dead and that the warranty on the new parts won't cover it because it is a new issue. STAY AWAY and tell your friends...

HORRIBLE SERVICE RUN AWAY! Do not be fooled by this company. They will come to your house and pretend to fix your appliance while leaving you with something that doesn’t work, not honouring their refund or repair policy and then ignore you all together.
I had expressed repair come to my house to assess and fix an oven that is only a couple years old. Upon their assessment, they told us that the motherboard (most expensive part) needed to be replaced. We ordered the part and had them replace it and within a couple days our digital screen (which we have never had an issue you before the took our entire oven apart) stopped working and we could no longer could use our oven. We called them back to fix the issue and they told us that we needed to replace the entire screen and associated parts. This was very disheartening as we were assured that the motherboard replacement would fix any issues with the oven. Not to mention they have a refund/ repair policy for if something does not work that they would not honour (clearly something was installed wrong or we were provided a faulty part). I then asked to speak with a manager to discuss our options and was told I would hear back the next day, and this did not happen. I then called them at least four separate times trying to get the manager Michelle on the phone but every time she just so happen to be in a meeting and they would give me another time to call back and when I would do that she would be out of office after leaving several messages and calling numerous times I was finally able to get Michelle on the phone. She then assured me that we would find a solution, and that she had to look into the file and get back to me which yet again she did not do. I’ve since reached out several more times sent emails and was never contacted. By this time, the 30 day period for a refund had passed and I felt like I was being scammed. I was very clear that I was willing to pay for what was done and was not even trying to get a full refund but get my oven fixed. I also told them that I did not want to take any further action such as writing a bad review or going to my credit card company to get the payment withdrawn which I have now had to do. The fact that they did not fix my appliance is one thing, then, to not be willing to speak with a paying customer is another, and then, to not care about a bad review, speaks volumes to this company’s intentions towards their customers. I hope no one else goes through this experience as when I dug online deeper through other sources there are countless stories just like mine with this unethical company. I am currently out around $900 and have spent countless time trying to deal with this issue. Save yourself the hassle and find another company.

Not professional . disrespectful and all they wanted is to pay upfront before they fix the problem with my dryer.
Will not recommend them although I paid for the technician service call. They charge 15.5% HST. Did not notice until received the receipt through email. BAD

Wish I would have saw this before. Unethical, unprofessional, and a liar. Do not answer phone. I told the man my wash cycle wasn't working and machine under warranty, he replied no I don't believe so. Never opened machine and told me drive motor not worth fixing, which is under warranty. Tried to use machine 3 days later doesn't work at all!!! He fixed my dryer also under warranty and charged me for all parts!! Scam!! Do not use
