Delighted at the level of sensitivity and compassion with which our delicate case was handled, and ultimately, settled. The process was long but worthwhile and we are thrilled to have connected with family members who we never would have, without Finder's help.

The best company

Finders international are truly professional. Helped me after finding me when my grandmother had died many years ago. They are skilled and help you through everything with papers if you can't figure it out. And I got my inheritance.

FROM BAD TO BETTER.

In October 2024,this Company acknowledged failures in my 2021 case,and in their apology gave a proactive plan from then on. This generally has been carried out with a degree of satisfaction.Now to the final stage: disbursement of funds by their Solicitors.

If politeness was the sole criterion,undoubtedly 5 stars,but other clear factors have been taken into account,which Finders are aware of.

My final review and possible recommendation upon
completion.

Ambiguous Contract, Useless Document and £168.75 Per Hour Hidden Charges

Finders International appeared to offer estate administration using 'independent SRA regulated solicitors' and contract was signed solely on this basis. Transpired later that this contract does NOT provide solicitor services but simply a 'research report' to prove the family relationship. This 'report' was entirely redundant, and effectively means paying 15% of family inheritance - potentially thousands of pounds - in return for nothing of any use.

Complaints were made, with Finders International stating their fee covered the research required for finding family members in the first place. Just to clarify: signing the contract meant handing over 15% of the inheritance for NO BENEFIT WHATSOEVER.

Once the first contract had been signed, a second contract was then presented. This was for Probate & Estate Administration Ltd, the company 'recommended' by Finders International to administer the inheritance, incurring additional charges of £168.75/hour + VAT for estate administration. There is no mention of this company nor the additional charges in the original contract.

In addition, despite Finders International's guarantee of 'independent SRA regulated solicitors', Probate & Estate Administration Ltd do not appear on the SRA Solicitors Register - in fact, they do not appear to be solicitors at all. The SRA will be contacted for further clarification. No online reviews are available for the company.

Finders International's response to complaints about the second contract and additional fees was that the client is not obliged to sign with Probate & Estate Administration Ltd. This fails to address the fact that the contract was only signed on the understanding that these services would be included in their commission.

There is no room here to list all the breaches of Consumer Protection Regulations we experienced, resulting in the signing of a contract which relinquishes a significant portion of one's rightful inheritance in return for a 'genealogical report' which has not been needed at any stage of the probate process.

There is no government regulation or ombudsman for the 'probate genealogy' industry, but this does not relieve them of a legal obligation to follow CPRs. For this reason, a full report and all relevant documents/communications including the 2023 contract have now been forwarded to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).

the waiting game

you could say it was great only because there was so little to do apart from wait.
that is the worse bit and you need to keep people updated as to progress more often.
also you need to keep your promise ( to send me a family tree).

My family were contacted by finders…

My family were contacted by finders International nearly 2 years ago now, ref an unknown relative . Apart from myself calling them up every 3 months or so for an update to be told really that there is no update . Things don’t seem to have moved in 2 years. Myself or my sister have not had one update voluntarily off the company at all . I just get told that they are still waiting for family members abroad to respond and waiting for them to sign up . Communication is very poor. Surely part of the service is giving updates? . Not really sure how long this is going on for at all we were told in beginning 12 to 18 months . Reading the reviews here looks like most people have the same problems, and been waiting even longer . Next step ?

Well, big slice, little cake!

Well, if it had been up to me, there is no way that I works have instructed them. I have contacted them for information and advice during the course of the kast 2 months and have yet to receive a reply.
20% slice of a cake that doesn't belong to them feels like robbery.

Regarding the percentage fee, please be assured that this figure was carefully calculated based on the extensive research required for your case and was determined in accordance with the instructions from the solicitors managing the estate. Our services were essential in locating the family members involved, as the solicitors had no prior way of contacting the next of kin. Without our assistance, it’s likely that your family may not have been aware of the inheritance matter at all.

We did make attempts to reach out to you and your family during the process, and we sincerely regret any confusion or perceived lack of communication. Our role is to verify all parties involved, which sometimes requires additional steps and waiting for responses from others.

Finders International Probate Genealogists good experiience

We had communication for this company about a deceased relative we did not know about. The company kept us informed at every stage until a solicitor contacted us further down the line with more information. As a result after probate having been sorted out, we then had a nice little surprise cheque in the post.
