Been with this bank for 34 years but lately it's been extremely difficult to deal with them getting ready to move on to a better bank .they lost there care for the coustermers after coustermers service sucks they canceled my card with out my permission.I have been waiting for a new card for 3 wks and was told it was on the way.there was a time when the bank was on top but if you look at reviews you will see a decline they have lost their way and I don't see the service that built the bank any way my personal experience is to look else where.

Unreliable and unprofessional from several staff. You will be asked for everything and then some for a commercial loan. They will drag it out for weeks and then find a way to say no.
Now they have your information and will begin sending marketing emails, calls, and texts about amazing rates and how they can help.
Stay away from First Citizens Bank, especially Preston.

AVOID THESE PEOPLE AT ALL COSTS!!
We recently purchased a used car that, regrettably, was financed through First Citizens. Weeks after purchasing the vehicle, and with the due date fast approaching, I had received ZERO information from them (payment book, account number, etc.) on how to pay, so I called their falsely labeled "customer support" number. There, I learned the following:
1. Some clown, despite having all the information from the contract with the dealer, entered an address and phone number (WHICH WERE NOWHERE ON THE PAPERWORK) from an address we hadn't lived at for over 20 years "explaining" why I hadn't received any payment information.
2. When I pointed out their error, the representative I was talking to was so clueless that I had to demand to speak to a supervisor, who actually managed to get the information changed.
3. When they finally fixed their massive error, I TRIED to set up automatic payments, but was told I couldn't because their system wouldn't allow that UNTIL 30 DAYS AFTER A PHONE NUMBER CHANGE! They entered the incorrect information, then had the outrageous audacity to tell me that they couldn't fix the error in their system without requiring that I wait. That was when I decided to transfer the loan to my credit union, and where the disaster that is First Citizens continued unabated.
4. When I called them to request a standard 15-day payoff letter be emailed to me, the representative I was talking to that day told me that they could mail me one. I told them I didn't want to wait, so I asked how I could have it emailed to me. I was given an email address to make the request, and told it would take a few days to process.
5. Three business days after sending the email, I called AGAIN, and this time the representative was competent enough to call the loan department. He informed me that the letter had been mailed (despite my specifically requesting otherwise), and that the email option I was told to use was ONLY FOR BANKS, DEALERSHIPS, ETC.
That was the last in the string of errors and lies. So far.
If you are foolish enough to do business with First Citizens, expect poor service, lies, miscommunication, and general incompetence on all levels.

Incompetence Rules at First Citizens!
We went to our local branch today to payoff the loan so a competent organization would handle it, and when the teller checked the address on the account, IT STILL SHOWED THE INCORRECT ADDRESS! This, despite assurances that the error had been corrected, and finally receiving a payment book at our current address.
These people either have a system that doesn't update across the entire system, or the loan department only corrected their error on their local system. No matter the reason, the lies and incompetence are stunning.
Thankfully, we are done with these people, and will NEVER do business with them again.

We received our mortgage loan through First Citizens and it was the biggest hassle we've ever been through. They hold our accounts, know we have excellent credit and still required statements and information that was way beyond necessary.

Beyond awful experience. The arrogance of the relationship managers, and the incompetence is jarring. I’ve regretted borrowing from them since the day I started with them. All they do is nickel and dime you to death. I’m still waiting for them to close one of my accounts which has a zero balance that I called about and told me explicitly that they would close it. They are still charging fees against it. Just a horrible experience and I would never borrow another dime from them!!!

Highly recommend an alternative form of borrowing for small business equipment loans. If you're moving forward with them at least get all fees up front (which they'll resist sharing), and be sure to read the contract top to bottom including the very fine print. Take days if you need to for a thorough review. Predatory tactics and ultimately an expensive transaction.

I have been banking with first citizens for many years, probably 40. I have always had a great experience. The people are professional and very nice. They have helped me with any problems. I fail to understand why all these people write bad reviews and rate it a 1 or 2. I've never had negative experiences. I think most of them are sour grapes. I can't give a specific date

I think a 1 star (it doesnt get any lower) out of 5 says it all. 4 years ago I was told that I could get a mortgage loan ( I was already under contract) and after 30 days of getting the run around I was approved thru chase i 15 minutes. you snooze you lose. I should have closed all accounts after this. I own multiple homes so my state ID is different than the address that they have had on file since I opened my account. This has never been an issue. I am traveling and needed some of MY cash. I was denied any of my money at 1 of their branches. this is the same as theft and I am done. I have had more issues than this but now I am DONE. I will NEVER bank at this disgrace of a bank again!

I've never seen a bench before that has different speeds to make a zelle. You just have to guess what speed they will use to make your zelle fast or standard as they call it, which can take 1 to 3 business days to reach the destination account. Apart from terrible customer service. Seriously if you don't want to have a hard time and delay your payments, I recommend staying away from this bank. I think it may be among the worst there can be

Do not get loans from First Citizen bank. You will pay endless fees, you will be charged automatically for forced insurance, and it’s a complete nightmare trying to prove to them you have insurance, I’ve sent them my Dec page 5 times now, every time they found something to deny it. Will be writing a letter to trumps administration to look into FCB and shut them down. They screw people over and get away with it.

I have been with this bank for 15 years and until recently have never had a problem. Now, they have screwed my money up so bad that THEY don't know what I've got in there. Also, Lisa from the Stuart, FL branch was so condescending it was sickening, plus she refused to let me speak to a manager. What a piece of garbage she was being to me, they screw up my account and I'm responsible???? BEWARE THEY RUN OFF OF AN ALGORITHM THAT STEALS YOUR MONEY!!!

I was forced to switch banks because my beloved First Republic Bank was bought by Chase and I'll be cold in my grave before I move to any of the large commercial banks. I banked at Citibank and Wells Fargo in the past. Horrible experiences. So last week I moved my business account and my two personal accounts to First Citizens in Walnut Creek. What an amazing, high-quality experience. Robin met me at the doors and took care of every last detail explaining everything step-by-step. All three of my accounts were set up by the time I left. Checks ordered. Bank Cards expedited. Overdraft protection in place. Online banking set up and tested. Today my bookkeeper made an error in our payroll and I needed to wire money to our payroll service quickly. Robin answered my call and walked me through the process. 15 minutes later we were done. I can't imagine better service. Robin and First Citizens are every bit the professionals I'm used to dealing with at the now defunct First Republic, which was the lodestar of small business banking service. First Citizens Walnut Creek is ready to pick up that mantle. If you are a small business owner in the Bay Area looking for a great high-touch banking experience at a very reasonable cost, I highly recommend First Citizens, Walnut Creek.

They are the most dishonest bank . Terrible service . They misrepresent everything to you and waste your time and change every aspect with you . We ve gone through a refinancing and every aspect of what was promised was changed and they killed time so that it gets close to the due date .

The absolute WORST customer service ever! There’s been several instances where either inside or through drive thru, there is NO ONE attending the teller line. Several minutes need to past by before someone finally decides to come out. The service is absolutely terrible and extremely slow. DO NOT RECOMMEND this bank whatsoever!!

We had a business checking account with First Citizens in Taylorsville, NC. I was having problems logging in and it would not allow me to reset my login password. I called their support number gave them all the requested info to prove that I was the customer and they told me I had to go to the bank and take my ID to reset my password for online banking. I went to the bank and closed my account. They didn't even care - not surprised. This is the second time I have tried doing business with them and their customer service is lacking.

What once was a good bank has turned to crap!!! Paid off a loan…overpaid bc that’s the info attorney that was given by bank. Called to find out where my refund is bc it’s been 16 days!!! Was informed well we hold the funds for 10 business days so it will be mailed after that times has lapsed. WHY…told that’s the bank policy no good reason except they get to keep everyone’s money for 10 plus days! Complete BS! If I owed them they would charge interest daily! Ridiculous! I actually give them a zero!

Applied for a loan at FCB to refinance our home, Went through all the procedures gathering all the required information. When it comes to finalize for closing, the loan officer says she made a mistake on the amount she could loan us. Was nowhere near what we had applied for. Spent money for appraisal, inspections all for nothing. I would not recommend this Bank for anything. Very unprofessional.

Avoid the headache by steering clear of this particular bank. FCB proves to be quite challenging to navigate. Its excessive self-regulation only serves to complicate otherwise straightforward transactions. Furthermore, their fees are unreasonably high without clear justification. Navigating FCB's web interface is a cumbersome task due to its complexity. With numerous alternative banks available, why subject yourself to unnecessary challenges unless you enjoy the ordeal?
