I would not recommend this bank to any contractor's, I opened a personal account to see how they operate before changing from bank of America to them with my business account.Well deposit a check that is from first citizens Bank client to my account takes 2days or longer bank of America I deposit before 9pm it's in account in morning I couldn't imagine how long it would take first citizens to clear a check from another bank if you're a contractor getting up front money you'll be screwed guess I will keep my account with bank of America!!! Also first citizens online banking app worst app I've ever come across!!
I was a banker for 32 years and have to say this is the WORST experience I have ever received.
They held my wire for over 6 weeks. Granted it was my error that my paperwork was incorrect on my account ( that they didn’t notice or care about for 2 years…) however they chose to hold my funds rather than just returning it to the sending bank.
Would not return phone calls or release my money.
I came on here to give a review a low and behold… 2 and 3 star reviews (which is GENEROUS).
They treat their own employees like garbage and couldn’t care less about customers or customer service.
Disgusting 🤮 service and worse customer experience! I gave them one star because I wasn’t able to give them negative stars…
There are so many institutions to choose from… why bother choosing them 🤯🤬
First Citizens Bank lacks communication as to what happens after paying off your loan! They produce a letter that attempts to explain their procedure to receive your title the day after the loan is paid off. But don't mail the procedures letter until after they electronically submit the request to DMV, which could be up to 10 days after! Go figure it took them the full 10 days to electronically send to DMV! So I received their procedures letter 2 days after they electronically submitted to DMV, and it states that the DMV could take 30 days to process. After speaking w 2 representatives neither of them had a solution as to why in today's world of instantly taking your money, that it takes them 10 days to email/electronically send a notice? Why they don't mail their procedures letter until after they send the email/electronic notice, instead of the date it's printed/produced? Guess they are no longer the small town bank! Rant over!
I started working with this bank because they sold me on the idea of a large bank with a small bank feel. Customer relations were the priority. That has definitely changed. The personal banker position has been a revolving door in the last few years and the upper echelon don't really seem to care about their clientele like they used to.
I recently set up my credit card to autopay the minimum payment through their online system. Fast forward 6 months and my card is cancelled. I'm told that the autopay that I set up online is only temporary. I'm behind on my payments so they cancelled my card. Nowhere on the website does it say the autopay is temporary and it's just such an absurd way to set that up. I requested that they reinstate my card and I would bring it current and set up a permanent autopay directly with someone in the bank. They refused and offered me a card with a worse APR and a fifth of the credit line that I had. Ridiculous.
On the heels of this, they also cancelled my line of credit when it was time to renew it stating that I didn't pay it down fast enough. Of course, nothing in their paperwork states that I needed to do so and my personal banker at the time didn't explain this either. I asked them to reconsider and told them I would make every effort to pay it down faster and was denied.
I'm in the process of closing out all my accounts and I will never work with this bank ever again.
I don't recommend that anyone do business with this bank.
I have received two (2) text messages from First Citizens Bank. On 5/24/23 a text message about they noticed unusual activity on my account. On 6/14/23 a text asking if a transaction was scheduled for $973.41on 6/13/23. I do not have and never had an account with First Citizens Bank.
I was given a preapproval letter for a mortgage. When it came time to close they could not figure out why my DTI was too high. It took them 7 days to figure out that they had placed 2 car loans on my application while I only had 1. They delayed my closing date twice, I will have to pay thousands for an Airbnb while I wait for the pushed closing date, and they refuse to provide compensation for their mistake. This is absolutely unacceptable and immoral for a company of this size to not pony up for a mistake they had made.
I have been working for this company more than 5 years. I would not recommend any investment with First Citizens Bank. They are the worst performer on the market based on the customer and employee reviews, because all smart people have already left this company. Very poor management, toxic, politic based, cheep environment. Lots of lawsuits with the companies they acquire. They do not maintain quality employees and management only cares about their own bonus. HR does not exist and covers management wrong doing. During my career, I have been volunteering and working hard and doing a great job, may manager was Orlando.Torres. I was never reworded, no promised bonuses. Their politics to keep people scared, instead of rewording for a good job. They changed my remote work from home status to work in the office and without any explanation. They were sending emails to all current employees and asking people on writing positive revues to cover up their chaos. I have been dismissed during taking medical leave on PTO and my PTO has never been paid. Overall, I would not recommend this job to a friend.
Customer for 7 years and have had no problems!
I had a breach in my bank account. Closed my old account and opened a new account. It's been a month and still no new debit card. My local bank can not give me a date on a new debit card. Telling me the bank is running behind on card replacements. Was told by a teller, this replacement could take a couple on months. UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!
This is a totally FAILURE from a National Bank. One wonders how many other customers are affected by this?
Who uses checks anymore? I can only access my money by going into the bank and seeing a teller. Who wants to carry cash? How many places are no cash, plastic only.
First Citizens could care less about my problem. Close your accounts and move your money. First Citizens Bank has failed at the very basics of customer service banking.
My bank was gobbled up by First Citizens Bank. First, we had to buy checks, which were expensive. Then the debit card came late, almost a week after the old bank card expired. I'm disabled and buy everything, even groceries on line. So a week of hunger. The interest rate is lower that my previous bank. I was charged $50 fee on my premiere checking. Why, I have no idea. I checked fee schedules for the bank and never found a fee that high on their site. I looked under complaints about the bank and they were all highly negative.
DON'T BE SCAMMED AND ROBBED BY THIS BANK!!! This bank will side with anyone who wants to pull money from your bank account and will not have their customers back even with proof. They charged me $35 to stop a company from taking money out of my account because I closed my account with the company a year prior. They said to pay the fee and it would stop them from taking my money every other week. It did not stop the charges and they sided with the company instead of their customer who has proof of closing the account and who also paid them to not give out my money.
As always I am again sad to see so many poor reviews. I have been with First Citizens for many years. I sent a message through my account and even though they say they would respond in 24 hours, my response was less than 8 hours. I feel like they are ALWAYS watching out for me.
Ignore all bad reviews, First Citizens is a great service. Those nay-sayers would rather spend 30 minutes on hold at Wells Fargo. I've had nothing but great experiences here.
After 4.5 years as a customer, I received a new $15 fee for online banking. The only reason I am a First Citizens customer was for Free Checking. Customer Service said I could go to a branch and have them switch my accounts to a different online banking system with very little difference with no fee. Could they make it more difficult. AVOID THIS BANK. Worst in class technology and branches closed on Saturdays. Convenience is clearly not a consideration for them. They are so bad, I get my SBA loans through other institutions and just use their checking in case I need a local branch. If they want to nickel & dime small businesses, I'll take multiple accounts and tens of thousands of dollars to a new bank. First Citizens is NOT SMALL BUSINESS FRIENDLY.
It I could shut this "bank" down, I would. I found 2 unauthorized charges on a debit card I never used even once for $1290. I never even got notified. I happened to log in because someone had tried to use the card for over $7000. They still have not given me a credit. Do NOT use this bank. They will NOT protect your money.
Would go with a different bank. Called customer service to resolve issues only to be told to call the local branch, call/go to the local branch to be told to call customer service. Credit cards have horrible interest rates and rewards/perks. Their online banking and app was barely usable for months on end. Fees for every little transaction. Horrible customer interactions in the branches. They are not military friendly, and I have tons of issues managing my accounts when deployed/overseas.
My local First Citizens branch has big bank perks with a small town feel. So friendly that my friends comment on it when we leave the drive through. I recommend them to everyone!
