11 day trial
Just completed an 11 day in house trial and my experience with the staff throughout has been top notch. They take every step to ensure comfortability during the stay, specifically Brian and the others working on the facility. Special thanks to Anna in the Kitchen who always made sure I was well fed with great meals and snacks. Would 100% recommend for anyone healthy looking to make the easiest money of your life.

Unnecessarily poor experience, Flu-camp let their good employees down
Issues are maladministration, defensive responses, not respecting volunteer time, creating false expectations, doctors contradicting each other & attempts to under pay/not pay for volunteer time properly. If flu-camp listened to volunteers this could be fixed quickly.
I attended an initial blood test which was fine, progressed to the medical - needed to bring my blood sugar and BMI down, which I quickly did - retested all fine - payment to this point paid promptly and without a fuss.
Accepted on to a trial - attended first 3 days of a trial then had an ECG - first one needed to be redone as they had inputed me as male on the machine, subsequent ECG's showed my heart was beating too slowly. I think this was largely down to being a little nervous as the issue wasn't being communicated with me in real time and a I was having my heart checked and didn't know what was going on so I was actively trying to calm myself through deep meditation techniques.
I specifically asked if this made me unsuitable for a trial and was told by the doctor that she wouldn't be putting that on my file and was advised I could attend a new trial in 3 months.
I contacted Flucamp to get dates for later trails (which would have actually been part of the same programme) and 3 emails went ignored. I tried to escalate and again no timely response. I then reported all of my concerns, which included data handling - when I arrived in my room forms completed by the previous volunteer were on the desk giving me access to his information, they also didn't give me the options described in their own pre-trial paperwork over my data so a far as I know it is currently being mishandled without appropriate permission.
I was proactively paid - a reduced amount for the 3 days I attended - Flucamp don't calculate this correctly - possibly because of the way they have weighted payments to incentivise you to turn up to follow up appointment rather than for time spent. I had to chase for the under payment of over £300 and the reality is most people give up. If anyone had their time on a trial cut short I would recommend not accepting the proactive payment made as complete and asking them to recalculate - I did suggest to them after I highlighted the issue that they should go back to all people that may have been impacted by this and make the proper payment - I don't expect they have done this which just means they are now liable for interest on top.
Its also worth noting, if like me you were advised you were still suitable for a trial and given a timescale to reattend and then flucamp stopped communicating with you - you can go through the small claims court to claim payment for the promised trail that you weren't given a place on even though it ran.
A successful outcome will mean Flu-camp pay your court fees.
All a bit silly really on Flu-camps part - I suspect one of the reasons they target students is because they are able to get away with not following their own processes - one day though their sponsors will pick up on this as it impacts their brand too.
I'm now an expert by experience on this and have effectively done the diagnostics a change consultant would do (as have other reviewer on here) - listen to us and the problem can be fixed quickly - ignore us and it will just get worse - not addressing these issues lets down Flu-camp professional employees and I met plenty - you will loose them and reading the employee feedback on Glassdoor, which is poor - loosing decent staff should be avoided.
Still happy to be contacted about a trial attendance, which would allow me to update my feedback, and this has been committed to twice, once by a Doctor and the second time in writing when I pointed out the significant underpayment.
*reply to Flu-camps reply below*
I'm not convinced that the changes have taken place - If they had I would have been contacted about a new trail (trials are currently taking place).
The reason I was not provided with the March dates is because the issues still existed. This is completely down to Flu-camp & I should have been paid for the March trial (you have my bank details).
I am repeatedly told to get in touch about participating in a new trail – Flu-camp have my contact details and should be pro-actively contacting me if the issues (9 month later) have been addressed.
Flu-camp must know that the fines for mishandling of data are astronomical, your prospective Sponsors certainly will.
As I have said previously I wanted to take part to become a referral root for entrepreneurship students which would have meant a better demographic cross section for the trials. As well as being more cost effective than visiting universities.
It’s probably also worth noting that I still haven’t had Covid and there are specific trails for this status which Flu-camp might be missing out on.

Avoid at all costs
I will give a detailed and unbiased recuse about my experience with FluCamp in case anyone is having doubts about whether they want to participate in their clinical trials. Firstly, I would recommend not to bother. Although the financial rewards seem like they are good on the surface, the hassle and stress you go through is nowhere near worth it. It’s advertised as a simple process with a reasonable turnaround time but that is not the case. I applied for to take part in the study back in March 2023. It’s meant to be a 2 week turn around after your first appointment then you have a second screening to make sure you’re eligible. However, it turns out that although they recruit patients that don’t actually have the approval for the trials themselves. This is highly irresponsible and there is an expectation that because they are offering you financial reward your life has to pretty much be on hold under their say so. In addition to this when you speak to staff if they don’t like a question on the phone they’ll cut you off and paint you out to be the villain when in the mean time, you may be just looking for answers since nothin is clear. It’s August and I still haven’t been given a date for quarantine and to be honest, I don’t know if I’ll actually participate since now it’s towards the end of summer I have holidays booked which I don’t want interrupted. Customer service is 0 out of 10 as is the entire process so I’d abuse you to avoid them at all costs since it is most certainly not worth the hassle. Oh PS if you are likely to be owed money they take a long time to pay out too.

Very comfortable
Very comfortable, pleasant and accommodating. It was all very straightforward from the first screening to the last checkup. Also the staff made it all, especially the quarantine a lot easier as they were super friendly and professional. Also the kitchen went above and beyond in offering gluten free options for me.
Shout out to Brain, Chloe, Alejandro, Roxanna and Anna from the kitchen :), all super friendly and helpful throughout.

Worth giving it a TRIAL!!!
The recruitment process, the pre-selection testing at Manchester all the way to vaccination, quarantine and post-quaratine follow-up (all in London) was seamless and hassle-free. I was well taken care off in London (far away from my normal base) each time i was required to attend the trial schedule there. The staff (admin and clinical) were so welcoming, approachable, and ready to provide support. The system runs like a well oiled rig..splendid, I will say!!. I really had a nice time and pleasant experience and I am not saying that lightly because I know I may sometimes be difficult to please. To cap it all up, compensations came in as at when due and was totally hassle-free. I have no current regret volunteering for the trials and I hope none in the future. I will sincerely recommend anyone who has given them a consideration to give it a go. You will most likely have the same positive experience as me because I see them as a very responsible organisation that keeps setting the standards and yet seeking to improve their processes all the time. They kept asking me all through the process about feedbacks so they could serve me or the next volunteer better. I think that is the right attitude to have and I am highly impressed with that.
To anyone reading this to guide their interest, I wish you "All the best!!" ...And also wishing flucamp and Hvivo more successes with their current and future trials.

Flucamp is great
Flucamp is great. Sure, the rooms are a little clinical and 11 days on your own might send you crazy. But you basically get paid to chill out. You can work from the room. Write a novel. Do a 10,000 piece puzzle. Play 100 hours of guilt-free PlayStation. Idk. Get creative. Plus the food is ten ten. Honestly - you want eggs Benedict for breakfast everyday? Go ahead. Bacon butty with three rashers??? Unlimited fruit buffet???? As many naked bars as you can eat a day?????? Oh yeh and u probably won’t get ill because the vaccine works so you can lit just hang out and occasionally someone will turn up to stick a long swab down your nose.

Compassionate Staff and Comfortable Stay: My Positive Clinical Trial Experience
I recently participated in a clinical trial and had a positive experience throughout my 13-day stay. The staff and nurses were incredibly caring and attentive, which made my overall stay quite pleasant. However, I did encounter one minor concern - the available options for vegetarian diets were limited. Nonetheless, I greatly appreciated the excellent care provided by the team. Definitely looking forward to participate in next trial soon.
Thank you for a generally positive experience.

Sincerely, respect and dignity was shown always by the staff whilst following due protocol. Facilities were okay however during the Quarantine make sure to ask for your desired games (preferably video games) or bring something to keep your brains thinking.

Entitled and unethical.
Spoke to a representative over the phone. They are not very transparent about ethics, did not give me a straight forward answer regarding use of my personal data, cagey about details and refused to let me speak with a researcher regarding my queries. Their telephone advisers need better training, I have conducted clinical research myself and that conversation did not answer my questions or put my mind at ease. There was a feeling of entitlement to my personal details but due to the lack of transparency I would not feel comfortable receiving doses of anything from this company.

Mental Health
Really disappointed in the discriminatory policy they hold that rejects all applicants that have had depression or anxiety within the past 2 years; not only does this perpetuate negative stereotypes about people with mental health issues, but it makes a lot of harmful assumptions. I understand the policy in a sense, but it would not be hard to arrange a telephone consultation to gage their eligibility in regards to that question- although mind you a 10-11 day experience at a flu camp has no real relevance to someones mental health history. What a shame.
Edit: the fact that you acknowledge sometimes mental illness can have affects proves that you know its not all. Yet you keep your policy up because you are too lazy for a lack of a better word to fairly assess someone. Ridiculous.

I just completed a 10 night stay in…
I just completed a 10 night stay in Flucamp and i couldn’t recommend it more. A few months ago, I applied for it after hearing about it on social media and very quickly, they invited me to come and attend an appointment. During the first appointment, everything was explained clearly and a nurse came and took my blood very quickly. I then received the payment for the visit very soon the following day. I was then invited to a follow up visit, where they carried out different tests, such as an ECG, a urine sample, alcohol tests and took another set of bloods. After this, I received my next payment very soon once again. A few weeks later down the line I was invited to complete a vaccination visit. Because the visit started early on in the day, flucamp paid for me to stay in a premier inn that was a 10 minute walk from the clinic (and very very nice!!). However, they didn’t mention that the day would take any longer than 2 hours, but it was actually a 10 hour day, so there was a bit of confusion with a few people in regards to that, so it’s useful to be aware of this. The vaccination visit was run very very well. It was a long day to sit still, but that was the only tiring thing about it and the nurses bought round plenty of a snacks as they carried out further testing and were very attentive. The vaccine was then administered and a few follow up visits commenced after this to record any effects. I luckily didn’t have any and found the vaccination experience to run very smoothly altogether. Around a month after this visit, it was time to enter quarantine. After arriving at the hotel, we were walked over to the same building the vaccination visits had taken place in for our quarantine. Unfortunately our stay wasn’t going to be taking place in the hotel like some of the other stays, but the rooms in the quarantine centre have everything you need for the stay. They look a bit different from the hotel rooms shown in some of the videos and photos before quarantine, as they are a bit more similar to a hospital room. However, they come fully equipped with a kettle, PlayStation, tv, snacks on arrival, decaf teas and coffees and even an en-suite bathroom. If you’re lucky you also get a room with a view where you can see Canary Wharf in the distance (this was definitely a treat to look at every night). My whole process in quarantine went so smoothly and I found the staff to be so incredibly attentive and helpful throughout. I wish i could remember more of their names but I want to say a massive thank you to Anna, who works in the kitchen, Sheila, Zoe, Brian and each and every single one of the nurses, especially one of the nurses who recommended me a KFC nearby on my way out today (so sorry I can’t remember your name!!). I was lucky to experience barely any symptoms, apart from on one day and each time you needed something the staff would be there to give it to you in seconds. They came round very frequently to offer snacks and made sure we never went hungry. The food was was also very good. There are some meals that you learn quickly are better than others (the jacket potato was amazing!!) and they are big portions so you’re always full. The rooms are quite small so there isn’t too much space to walk around and you can become bored if you don’t have something to keep you busy or enough shows to watch, so I’d definitely recommend planning something you want to do when you get there. The wifi is also incredibly strong so anything you need to watch or download it’s super easy to do. I couldn’t recommend doing this more, it is definitely worth it for the money they pay you and for the whole experience of doing something different like this. Plus it’s very nice to get a break away from busy life in a comfy room!! A big thank you to all the staff that made this experience so smooth and I will definitely be returning to do another one in a few months time!!

Time Management
I wish FluCamp also opened on the weekends or are able to speed up their check up procees. The thing is, I started a new job right after the quarantine and I missed the follow up check probably 2X, because of schedulling conflict. They pushed me to do the check for my wellbeing, I agree, but I was a new employee and it's not good to keep asking days off from my employer. Fortunately now I changed the job and able to WFH. With one hour lunch break, I assumed it's enough for them to do the check up, but I was wrong. I needed one hour in clinic, only for blood test, urine, and consultation, be aware that I need the time to travelling as well. They could've speed up the procees, and do the check less than an hour. So, either speed up the process or also open on weekends/Saturdays, that would be helpful. I don't know if I would be able to visit the clinic for my last follow up day, today I feel so unprofessional for being late at work, despite the fact that I'm WFH. Thank you.

Discriminatory
So apparently if you have mild anxiety and/or depression that you can manage and have been for years, you cannot take part?! Because a manageable mental health issue affects getting the flu

Amazing staff support throughout
Great communication throughout the process so far, first appointment is just a simple blood test that was a very fast experience for me. I spent more time waiting for my appointment than the actual blood draw itself the nurse who drew my blood was fantastic and explained everything to me as I was a little anxious. The test takes about 3-6 weeks to get the results I had mine within 2 weeks! Sadly I wasn’t accepted onto a trial at this time but I’m hoping they can find a trial for me soon as they keep people on file for 6 months. Every member of staff I spoke to was professional and would recommend this to anyone.
