We have been adopters with Forever Hounds for over 15 years . Within our family we have adopted 7 super greyhounds/lurchers . We always adopt the hounds that find it difficult to find homes and are so rewarded by their unquestioned love they give . Forever hounds not only look after their hounds superbly but also the adopters . Our latest adoption illustrates how the staff go that extra mile . We lost both our beloved greyhounds in less than a month over the christmas period , one due to long term kidney failure and the second in horrific circumstances . Our wonderful Barney had severe dental problems and despite his age our vet assured us he would cope with a number of extractions . Barney was returned home in a very distressed state from no less than 12 extractions ! His distress continued through the evening and despite our phone calls to the vet we were reassured that it was the result of medication used . During our last plea for help Barney died in my arms . Quite the most horrific experience we have ever had . I spoke to the CEO of Forever Hounds regarding our dreadful grief and she acted immediately . She found us a greyhound ( renamed spock ) because of his pointy ears , all the staff helped to facilitate the adoption and brought him to us within days due to my wifes immobility . A perfect illustration , F/H's showed real compassion for our overwhelming grief , gave unquestioned support , and transported a perfect choice hound to us . Spock is a really sensitive soul who require an experienced quiet home to flourish . This he has and is making wonderful progress and helping to heal two battered pensioners .
