Our composite door lock had a problem locking. As I needed to secure our home, I looked online and found GB DIY STORE, which offers an ERA 45mm middle gearbox with next-day tracking service if you place an order before 3.00. As it was a fair price, I placed an order. [ order number 302949 ] As GB DIY STORE had not sent me a tracking number by the next day, I sent an email to GB DIY STORE requesting a tracking number. I received an email back with the tracking number. Also, sorry for not letting you know, the order did arrive on time in the afternoon.
That afternoon, I removed the broken gearbox and tried to replace it with the replacement gearbox, but found it would not fit because one of the connecting studs was defective.
The next morning, I sent an email to GB DIY STORE with photos of the defective gearbox and completed their online form requesting a replacement gearbox as per their company policy.
I received no reply or communication that day, so the next day I sent another email requesting a replacement gearbox: again, no reply or communication.
I then sent a 3rd email, this time requesting a refund for the defective gearbox as per GB DIY STORE policy, again, no reply or communication.
After five days of no communication from GB DIY STORE, I contacted the Payment System used for my payment for help. Their Resolution Centre opened a Dispute case, looked at the information I sent them, and refunded me in full.
In writing this review, I hope GB DIY STORE can change the way it treats its customers.

Thank you for leaving this review. We completely understand your frustration—having a broken door lock is incredibly stressful, and receiving a defective replacement part only adds to that. We sincerely apologize that the ERA gearbox you received had a faulty connecting stud.
We do, however, want to clarify the communication breakdown. It was truly a "perfect storm" of system mismatches caused by typographical errors, rather than our team ignoring your messages.
When you placed your order, the email address provided contained a typo (@bblueyonder.co.uk). Because our dispatch system is automated, the tracking information was sent to that exact address, which is why you didn't initially receive it.
When you later emailed us directly to ask for the tracking number, we replied. However, because you emailed us from your correct address, our helpdesk system did not recognize it as a match to the misspelled email on your order. As a result, your contact history and order profile were never linked in our system.
When you subsequently reached out via our contact form regarding the defective part, the email address entered contained a different typo (@bleyonder.co.uk). Our team responded to you on May 8th to apologize and offer a full refund or a replacement. Unfortunately, because of this second typo, our replies bounced back to us as undeliverable. We also tried emailing the address on your original order, but that bounced back as well. Because your previous direct email had not linked to your order profile, our team had no record of your correct email address to fall back on.
For data protection and privacy reasons, our staff is strictly prohibited from guessing or altering customer email addresses—even when a typo seems obvious—to ensure we never send personal order information to the wrong person.
We take immense pride in our customer support, which is reflected in our 4.8-star rating on Trustpilot, where we are consistently praised for how we help our customers when things go wrong. We never want anyone to feel ignored, especially when trying to secure their home. While we wish we could have connected with you directly to resolve this, we are very glad that you were able to receive your full refund through your payment provider.

Great initial service but even better aftercare. Very impressed.
I bought replacement door handles for composite doors in May 2025. The service was excellent and the handles arrived pretty promptly and were just what I was looking for.
What was more impressive is how the company responded when I had a problem with one of the handles in February 2026. I emailed them a photo and they emailed right back saying they would send a replacement. It arrived the very next morning by Royal Mail tracked delivery. I think that is really first class.

Fantastic company
Fantastic website with much needed instructions and diagrams for me (66 year old lady) on how to order the correct PVC door handle replacement. Great prices with product options. Order arrived the next day! Product fit was perfect! Very impressed customer with GB DIY Store.

48 hours from query to resolution.
Sent an email on Thursday at 1:30pm asking if they could identify a door lock part required. I Received a reply within 30 minutes asking for some photos, and sent photos of the part at 2pm. Received a reply within 10 minutes with a link to the part on their website. Ordered by 2:30 and delivered by Royal Mail 2pm Saturday. Door lock repaired by 3pm.
