Stay away from GMC

Transmission (and engine) went on my Sierra after 100k miles. Four months later and they still can’t get the transmission for the vehicle. If it breaks down be prepared to wait a very long time for a repair. Even worse … this is an income producing vehicle.

THE VEHICLE HAD ONLY 48K MILES AND WAS IN THE GMC DEALERSHIP 7 TIMES IN AND OUT (4 MONTHS) AND THE ISSUE WAS NOT FIXED..WE STILL HAD THE PAYMENT ON IT AND RENTING ANOTHER VEHICLE FOR OUR JOBS ALSO LOST OVER 300K IN REVENUE JUST BECAUSE THEY WOULD GIVE THE TRUCK BACK STATING IS FIXED AND THEN THE DAY LATER TRUCK COULDN'T TOW NOTHING AGAIN!! This is for a GMC Dealer, Simmons Rockwell GMC, in Big Flats, NY

My experience was the single worst car purchase experience I have ever had.
I spent over six hours at the dealership after an amazing test drive of a 2022 Chevy Silverado.

The drive started at around 11.30 am and lasted an hour or so. I picked up my seven-year-old daughter who was angry that I was getting rid of "snowy" our 2018 Chevy Colorado. After 5 minutes in "silver" which she named for the silver color she was sold. She was most impressed that she could stand up in the back seat without her head touching the inside roof. She was also impressed with "silver's" zoomies meaning that the truck was fast as hell.

I have never driven a truck with so much power and performance. All out of a 4 cylinder turbo.

Anyhow, I wanted the truck, it sold itself.

My salesperson was Shawn, last name withheld to protect his ass-wholeness.

He was engaged with another customer when I came back so I waited an hour or so for him. He started "multi-tasking" me and the other customer and started someone looking at my trade. I was expecting around 22k for my 2018 Colorado with 65K miles on it. Nope. 18k, firm after much complaining. I offered another 10k down payment.

Time to pull the credit report, all of them, with 10 lenders. Ally Bank bit hard and wanted my business - the offer, 8.75% rate, 72 months, 655.00 payment with warranty included at another 4k. So, time for down payment, the plan was to put $7500 on a credit card and another 2k cash. Nope, can't do that. Max $2500 on CC. New plan, 5k down. Another credit pull, another offer. 9.75% rate with 72 months and $750 per month.

By now, Shawn was getting pissed. "Are you going to buy the truck or what, you are wasting my time' He started working with another customer and let me hang while I was talking to Ron who is my friend and mentor. He also happens to have been in the car biz for 33 years as a finance manager.

It is now 3.30pm. They close at 4. Agreed to purchase at 655.00 payment, starting docs with Joe in finance. Wrote the check out to Simmons Rockwell for $2500 in front of Joe and Shawn.

Called CarShield, they offer the same 4k warranty for 3.2k with $299.00 down and 18 110.00 payments. 200-dollar deductible with most claims.

4.00 - changed my mind about the 4k warranty, don't want it. Redo the docs and payment went down to $525.00 per month. They also dropped the interest rate to 8.75%, how nice of them. Joe is pissed off he has to redo the docs; they were all done and printed. "I am late already to be somewhere' (I really don't give a darn)

4.30 - electronically signed the docs, signed over the title to "snowy", got insurance on "silver". Joe left. Did everything with his ass-wholeness.

5pm, Shawn transferred my plates, and we talked about removing my rusted in weight dist. hitch out of 'snowy"

5.15pm drove off the lot in "silver", happy as a pig in mud.

One problem, they did not collect my down payment.

I bought my 2023 Chevy suburban in…

I bought my 2023 Chevy suburban in October 2022. The first month that I had it, we had issues with a chip/electrical issues. My vehicle has been in the shop over eight times with different issues and issues that have been happening prior that are moving around the truck and are intermittent. It started with the side camera going out, to the doors not opening when you touch the knob, not starting when I’m putting it in gear, (I was told it was because I didn’t step on the brake, radio having issues with cutting out and not working(they replaced it) still having the same issues and they fixed it three weeks ago and now it’s worse then what it was before it was fixed, flashers turning on by themselves, back wiper going on by itself when turned off, dash board went completely black while driving, couldn’t lock doors, speed indicator not always working, blower fan not working in freezing rain and snow while I was driving I couldn’t see out my windshield, it wouldn’t go into gear, when starting the truck remotely it wouldn’t heat it up, and the driver seat doesn’t always work, They had an investigator go out and look at it and have decided that they are not going to make it a lemon and take it back as a trade because they can’t make the intermittent issues happen. I have had things go out while I’m driving that could have caused harm to me and other people. I have videos/paperwork that proves what I’m saying what I am about this vehicle. I have also had several people in my vehicle when things have happened and told me that it is hearsay.
We have had Chevrolet vehicles for over 40 years and Suburbans since 1990. They don’t seem to care about loyal customers. I was talking to the customer service person Tausha she was great and really tried to help me. It’s not her fault she is only doing what she can with what the company tells her to do.
They offered me an extended warranty for so much money a month to cover the issues I’m having which are their issues not mine.

Gmc didn't want me to drive me truck understandably. So i had to get a rental i have been trying to get my advisor to get reimbursed for my rental. Everytime i call she not available leave a message she will call back in 24/48 hours so far i haven't heard anything from Mrs Susan. Rightnow customer service is not good

Very disappointing customer service from GMC...

I bought a car Chevrolet 2024 TRAX RS 4DR 2WD in October 13th, 2023. The car has been serviced twice since I bought it. and according to the dealer all is running fine. And a week and half ago, I was driving my car in the speedway and suddenly the engine exploded. I had to performance several manoeuvres to pull over the car and avoid an accident in the speedway. After that, the post sales service has been a nightmare. I spoke with the dealer of GMC at Toronto and customer service at GMC Canada and neither GMC nor Dealer wanted to take any action. My father went to the dealer at Montreal where we bought the car and they (Saleman and the manager) told him that we need to do all the movements or calls to fix that issue.

It has been very disappointing the service that I received at Ontario and Montreal. We still don't know what is going to happen with my car, because I don't have any answer from the dealer or GMC.

I'm very disappoint about that issue and the only I would like to say is: It's not about only to sell a car to any client, it's all about the post-sale service that need to be improved to have a much better satisfaction for the future clients. Thanks!!!

I GOT MY CAR IN Dec

I GOT MY CAR IN Dec. 2022 and I opened my account with GMC in January so I waited to get my points for my purchase so I called the dealership and they told me they don't do the reward points. I tired to call them a couple of times but I have an autism, ADHD, ODD child so I don't have moments to sit on the phone and wait. So I finally had a chance, I waited to long to get my points and no one ever that I had a time limit. So I am not happy. Whatever happen to costumer service.My dad has bought 5, my father-in-law 3, I have bought 4 and my husband has bought 2. I love my car but the service stinks, I was told I can't talk to anyone else but I could send a letter! Forge

I CAN'T MAKE THIS STUFF UP!!!

I purchased a Cadillac Escalade in the 2007 and traded vehicle in 2017 for a 2017 Cadillac Escalade. In December 2023, I started experiencing issues with the truck and contacted On Star in order to obtain a diagnostic of the issues. It reported an issue with the exhaust. I took the vehicle into Cadillac who indicated that my Injector #2 failed. I was unable to complete the $3k+ repair at that time, therefore, I drove the vehicle home and parked it. I drove the vehicle sparingly, however. Later in March of 2024, I started hearing knocking noises coming from the front of my vehicle. Again, I took the vehicle to Cadillac in Waldorf and was informed that I need an engine!!! I was also informed that the engine install would be upwards of $14k.

Now, I still am paying a note on the vehicle and a $14K repairs bill...I simply could not afford this expense. I was informed by a friend, who also has a GMC that I should contact GMC who was able to assist him with his repair costs. I took his advice and contacted GMC who indicated that they could not assist me because of the mileage on the vehicle. I explained to GMC that I maintained my vehicle in getting the oil changes and any needed work done, however, they refused to offer assistance in any manner.
This is my 2nd Cadillac purchased and was considering a 3rd Cadillac until this occurred. Now that I see GMC does not back their product, although outside of the warranty period, especially something as serious as an engine repair. I can't bring myself to purchase another vehicle from GMC.
I have been informed by service managers that this problem is NOT isolated to my vehicle. This implies that there are other people with current year and slightly older vehicles requiring new engines. This absolutely should not be to case. Perhaps this situation should be looked into and determined if there is an issue with Cadillac.

NEVER AGAIN!!! I'M DONE.....I CAN'T MAKE THIS UP.

I purchased a new GMC 2500HD Denali in 2022, expecting a top-of-the-line vehicle given its premium price tag and reputation. Unfortunately, my experience has been far from satisfactory, and I feel compelled to share my disappointment.

First and foremost, the reliability of this truck has been abysmal. Shortly after purchase, I experienced multiple breakdowns, leaving me stranded on the side of the road. The frustration of owning a brand-new vehicle that cannot be relied upon is indescribable.

The first major issue was a transmission leak that took well over a month to repair. However, the repair was not done correctly, and they failed to refill the transmission fluid. Once again, I had to turn to a local shop to fix what should have been a straightforward repair. This is simply unacceptable for any vehicle, let alone one marketed as a robust and reliable truck.

One of the most alarming issues has been the tailgate. It opens by itself while driving, which is not only incredibly unsafe but also makes it impossible to tow anything securely. Imagine driving down the road and suddenly seeing the tailgate open, potentially losing cargo or creating a dangerous situation for other drivers.

When I took the vehicle in for a recall to fix this issue, the service department disabled the tailgate entirely and said they would contact me when the part was available. Months later, despite numerous attempts to follow up, I have yet to hear back from them. This lack of communication and inability to resolve such a critical issue is incredibly frustrating.

Additionally, the truck has numerous electronic gremlins and the driver’s door leaks, adding to the litany of problems. The vehicle has been in the shop multiple times for these and other repairs, each time with long wait times and no clear resolution. I've had to resort to using an independent shop to fix issues that should have been handled by the dealership.

Overall, the GMC 2500HD Denali has been a huge disappointment. The reliability, safety issues, and poor service have left me regretting my purchase. I expected much more from a premium vehicle and would advise others to think twice before investing in this truck.

Worst dealer in Oman and worst car

Worst dealer in Oman and worst car. I had a GMC yukon when it completed 110000k car box get damaged. All services done at the dealer and when I went for checking no one know what to do and they brought me a bill of thousands to fix. Lost trust in both the dealer and the brand not recommended for any one.

Quality on a new 90k gmc Denali…

Quality on a new 90k gmc Denali ultimate is poor. But try dealing with their customer service department! Try because once they give you a case number and rep, you can call a hundred times and no one will answer the phone. Ask for their supervisor and he is not available, because of privacy you can't know who he is. Company line, I understand your frustration. But no results to fulfill your warranty. Don't buy GMC!

GMC down for 60 days and still in service with no future

I have my truck in service for two months (60 days)- In need of a leaky EGR, and nobody has information (I called multiple times the service where the vehicle sits and the GMCCanada line) about when the parts will be available if ever. Besides the fact that I was told multiple times that the request has been escalated to the highest level of priority the GMC Canada phone number apparently was created only to protect and cushion the higher tiers of people that can really look into this problem. The phone operators won't put their managers on the phone, "they are terribly sorry though"-(and I don't know why as there is no communication between hierarchies) so you can't actually escalate the issue. I made one big stupid mistake to buy a GMC in August of last year (so the vehicle was down two months out of nine) and I still pay for it. I will just try to post it here and wait.
Oh how I miss my 360k, 2011 Toyota Tacoma that ran like a dream. Well, I wanted a piece of american garbage...

Rock Hill Buick and GMC Service doesnt care about Customer Satisfaction

After spending close to $90k for a new GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali, I later scheduled my first maintenance appointment as it was included with the purchase.
Not knowing that topping off the DEF was included, I topped it off myself before taking it in. I was told they would top it off on the next visit. Upon returning for my next maintenance service, the Service manager, Shawn Branham, chose NOT to top it off unless I paid for it. This was in addition to denying my use of a service coupon online. In fairness the fine print did exclude diesels.
I did leave the truck for them to take care of the GM recall items and it was almost 6 hours of waiting. Completely unacceptable. I planned to use them for the life of the truck but will not return and will not recommend to anyone. A big price to pay for $20 worth of DEF that was owed to me.
The very positive part of my visit: The Customer interface person (named Rishad) was outstanding in everything he did to accommodate all my needs while waiting including arranging a ride to another appointment and back, but unfortunately the actual service decisions are out of his control.

Hello I recently took a trip to Illinois driving my 2010 Buick. Lacrosse ran into car trouble. Finally decided to just take the car to the nearest Chevy dealer. Went to Chevy dealer in Morton Illinois called Light House Chevy. I was given the best deal for what had to be done to my car. Also, everyone in the Chevy dealership were extremely courteous best customer service I’ve ever received in a service department of a car dealership. So I’m just giving everyone there a shout out and asked that you keep doing what you’re doing. if I had been in the search of a car, the customer service alone would’ve sold
me. I would also like to add I was there for a family funeral, so I really appreciate the great Customer service at my time of loss SB Wilson. Stephanie Wilson

I have a 2020 silverado with a duramax…

I have a 2020 silverado with a duramax diesel engine my dream truck they have no part to control coolant temp so it sits until GM get off there butts and sends out parts without that coolant valve it cant keep temp control they dont care about no one they get 0 stars from me ive been all over looking for this part no one has it thats bad i may be forced to get a different one from a different place like toyota or nissan at least u can get parts for those they lost another customer i will not buy another GMC product now u cant get parts how would u like to do without a vehicle

Don't Buy GMC

I reached out to GMC in January 2024 about my terrible ownership experience as the transmission and engined failed on me within 3 and a half months of purchasing a used 2018 GMC truck from the GMC dealership on Waverly in Winnipeg (which was a terrible experience of itself). They promptly responded to my feedback, but have now been "investigating my case" for over a month and have let me know about 13 times saying they're still investigating. I lost patience and needed to move on, so I sold the vehicle back to the dealership last week. GMC Canada was of no help to me and I'll never purchase a GMC vehicle again.

Bad experience with GMC Customer…

Bad experience with GMC Customer Service!! I’m trying to get reimbursed for repairs I completed on a known issue by GMC and they are refusing to cover my repaired expenses. Anyone having this same issue? I’m currently trying to escalate this issue

Issue acknowledged by GMC notice sent to me: 2016 model year GMC Sierra vehicles, equipped with a diesel engine, may have a condition which causes an offset in the temperature sensor in the diesel-emission-reduction fluid (DEF) tank reservoir or causes the DEF heater performance to degrade. If this condition occurs, the Malfunction Indicator Light (Check Engine Light) will illuminate, the "Service Exhaust Fluid System" or "Service Emission System" message will be displayed, and a diagnostic trouble code related to the condition will be set.

I definitely meet their repair requirements: If this condition occurs on your 2016 GMC Sierra within 10 years of the date your vehicle was originally placed in service or 120,000 miles (193,000 km), whichever occurs first, the condition will be repaired for you at no charge.

I had it repaired elsewhere prior to knowing GMC would repair this issue for free. Paid $986.01. GMC REFUSES to reimburse me even-though their letter states: If you have already paid for repairs for the condition described in this letter, please complete the enclosed reimbursement form and present it to your dealer with all required documents.
Working with your dealer will expedite your request, however, if this is not convenient, you may mail the completed reimbursement form and all required documents to Reimbursement Department, PO Box 33170, Detroit, MI 48232-5170.

Finally.

A GMC truck was my dream car for many years in the past.
but only recently I could afford one, and it’s not brand new, it’s a pre-owned Sierra 1500 2018.
But I like this car really much. It’s a beast that can take me out of any mud or any type of off-road.
