I booked a house through GroupRetreats and had a really positive experience overall. Their guest portal is easy to use and made it simple to access all the information about our booking. The team were also very responsive and helpful whenever we had questions or needed assistance.

The only downside was the check-in time, which wasn't until 4pm. We asked about checking in just 30–60 minutes earlier, but were quoted £300 for an early check-in, which was too excessive.

Aside from that, the booking process and communication were excellent, and I'd happily use GroupRetreats again.

We just had an amazing family weekend at Alward House and travelled from Devon, Brighton, Cardiff, Middlesex and Hong Kong! We were 11 adults and 5 children (3-6 years) so there was ample space for us! We were blessed with glorious weather, so spent a lot of time down at the pool! The views from the garden stretch for miles and it was the perfect space to enjoy drinks and dinner. The children loved running round the garden and also enjoyed seeing the horses up the road!

We’re a party of 26 ranging from 91 years to 9 weeks old and all had a fantastic stay at Ashfield Farm Place. The house is huge, full of character with a rabbit warren of rooms, well equipped with 2 dishwashers, 2 fridge freezers, AGA and electric oven, masses of storage, games room, pool table and ample grounds. The swimming pool was great, really clean and warm! sunbeds and parasols available too, the tennis court looks like new, all of which were thoroughly enjoyed in the current heatwave. Group retreats were in regular contact before and after to check all was ok. Great fish and chip shop a 5 min car ride away. We’re already arranging our next family visit for this time next year, highly recommend.

Gardener's Cottage is a perfect weekend getaway in beautiful surroundings for peace and quiet.

Great location, easy walk to the high Street for dinner or along the river. Great for watching wildlife too. The cottage has three double rooms with very comfortable beds. A good size bathroom and a great kitchen with all we needed -along with a lovely basket of goodies when we arrived.

Bbq area, plenty of sun loungers and a hot tub in a beautiful garden with a lovely orchard.

Couldn't be happier with our cottage for a lovely relaxing weekend away.

Milton House near Bedford was the chosen venue for my 83rd birthday ‘Granny weekend’ and it was an amazing unforgettable experience for 19 of us ranging from 13yrs to 83.A truly lovely house swimming pool and jacuzzi and games room.Huge gardens to die for, with lily ponds and tennis court.All we could have wished for and more even had a car charger.So much space and all we needed to cater for the family even barbecue.Will save and come again.

Absolutely stunning property at Abbey House. Easily accessed, hamper on arrival, beautiful swimming pool.

We stayed at Glentworth Manor for our Musical Theatre Society annual holiday this year. We cannot find even the slightest fault with our experience. The team at Group Retreats were helpful throughout the entire process, always happy to answer any questions and rang us on the day to make sure we had received the arrival pack and all our questions answered.

The house itself was immaculate when we arrived - there was so much to explore from two sitting rooms to a games room equipped with a pool table, air hockey and a Playstation with a plethora of games, (our favourites were the swim spa and the cinema room which came in handy when the weather was poor). The garden area is great with enough bench space for everyone to sit outside and eat simultaneously. One particular highlight was the entrance foyer which came with a piano (as musical theatre fans we love a little sing song!) The kitchen was well-equipped for cooking for 33 people. The bedrooms were huge and there was plenty of space for everyone the beds were comfy and the z-beds were placed in rooms prior to our arrival. There is plenty of bathrooms and these were super clean on arrival.

There isn't a company I would recommend more highly. We will definitely be coming again. Thank you Group Retreats!

Our stay at the Plant House was everything we wanted. The house itself is beautiful, extremely comfortable and very well equipped. We had a great stay, although I’m glad Rob, the owner, was on hand to explain the Gaggenau hob…. I think that may have been beyond me!!

Fawley Court was absolutely incredible. We had the best time and were blown away by the beautiful house. It had everything we needed and more! The photos didn’t do it justice, it was mind blowing. So many impressive rooms and the pool was massive. It was so spacious but also offers intimacy in some of the communal rooms.
The bedrooms were stunning, the beds so comfortable and lots of bathrooms for everyone. The beds were so comfortable, the hosts were so friendly and responsive. We wished we could have stayed all week to thoroughly enjoy every part of the house but we hope to return in the future.
Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in this beautiful venue surrounded by stunning views. It was the perfect wholesome celebration for my hen party as we didn’t want to go out and get drunk, instead we had a luxury and private retreat. Memories for life! Highly recommend

Just come back from a memorable stay at Milton House celebrating my 60th birthday with family and close friends. The house and grounds are lovely and the indoor pool was well used. The games room was detached from the main house so was difficult for us all to be there in the evening when the little ones were in bed but the drawing room was a big enough area for us all to congregate. The kitchen had everything we needed.

We have stayed in several of the homes run by Group retreats and each one is lovely and exactly as shown in the photos.
They are also happy and quick to help with any questions or support needed before the trip.

I and 28 of my friends had an amazing stay at Alward House over the weekend. We were blessed with sunshine which meant most of the time was spent by the pool, tennis courts, and out making use of the BBQ! I really recommend this house for big groups - the kitchen was well stocked and there was enough space for everyone to relax and eat comfortably (we loved the dining room!). Thanks Group Retreats!

The venue we were originally interested in to celebrate my husband’s 80th birthday was fully booked but Group Retreats suggested a couple of alternatives. When we looked at Martley Hall we were hooked!! It was a little more expensive than we had planned as it slept 34, somewhat more than our group of twenty but it was so worth it. The setting was beautiful and the facilities amazing. The owner, Georgie, was lovely and met us on arrival. She gave us a tour of her wonderful property and explained how things worked and the different facilities available, which was really helpful. We had intended to visit some local attractions but couldn’t tear ourselves away from the Hall. We all, from 2 years to 80, had the most amazing time and made some wonderful memories.
Group Retreats kept in regular contact prior to our stay, sent a very useful handbook about the property, checked on any special requirements such as extra beds and were helpful in organising extra seating in the dining room so we could sit together as a family. If we were to plan a large group stay away again we would definitely contact Group Retreats, and are really trying to think of a reason to visit Martley Hall again, a truly amazing venue.

We had a wonderful stay at Saham Grove Hall as an extended family group from age 1 to 78! The home was large, well-equipped and very comfortable. We had beautiful weather and made the most of the swimming pool, hot tub and stunning grounds 😊

We had a fantastic stay in this house, the swimming pool is better than most hotels let alone houses! All the rooms are lovely, saw previous reviews saying some needed some touch ups but this must of been done as they all were beautiful. Kitchen was really well equipped and Ross was so helpful with any questions or issues, picking up the phone straight away. Gardens are beautiful and the house is so fun to explore.

Took all the family to celebrate my 70th birthday to Ashfield Place Farm in Suffolk. Amazing property with a lovely swimming pool, tennis court and acres of land for kids and dogs.
The property was exactly as described in the marketing material but, to our surprise, the kitchen was stocked with everything needed to make meals for 20+ people. Communications from Group Retreats were good and we felt that any problem encountered would be dealt-with. There we re none!
The farm is in the middle of nowhere, a peaceful retreat.

We stayed at the house Friday - Monday for a gathering of 18 people from start to finish was just perfect no it was spectacular very well organized and very informative thank you group retreats Chloe and hope the house and the grounds are amazing the pool area is unreal and the hot tub was just perfect to carry on socializing and drinking we just didn’t want to leave I would defiantly recommend this property in fact that every one was blown away by this amazing house and grounds. We had a private chef Philleep yummy food was served and did not disappoint food was bang on then we had the big British roast came for BBq And the food was decent everything was perfect yummy food beautiful grounds and to top it the weather was scorching so thank you abbey house its was unreal just amazing.

Just back from staying at Fawley Court in Hereford and what a wonderful place. The house and grounds are stunning and the pool is a great size.

It accommodated my 30 guests well in what were mostly spacious rooms although some are not ensuite with some areas having 3 rooms sharing a bathroom.

The great hall is fabulous for getting a large group together and we used Christines Catering in Hereford to cook a meal for us one night which was amazing.

We also ran a group laser clay shooting session using Oaker Wood Leisure who did a great job.

Lots of nice walk available from the house and the surrounding gardens are amazing.

Will definitely go again in future.

We booked Milton House for a 2 day corporate small team event and it was just perfect. Lovely facilities and grounds, great location and well maintained. The games room is a good space for meetings as their is a screen and seating available.

Our stay at Timberley House in February 2026 for my Nan and Grandad's 60th Wedding Anniversary was extremely disappointing and nowhere near the standard advertised. The biggest issue was the heating — the games room had no heating whatsoever during our entire stay, making it completely unusable despite being promoted as one of the property’s main features.

The main house was also inadequately heated throughout the daytime, leaving members of our group, including elderly guests, sitting indoors wearing scarves and gloves just to stay warm. This was completely unacceptable and made the property very uncomfortable to stay in.

What made the situation even worse was the complete lack of communication. We contacted the caretaker during our stay to report these problems and received no response at all. Being ignored while dealing with such basic issues was incredibly frustrating.

To make matters worse, there was also a leak at the property, and the only attempt to deal with it was to place towels on the floor. This was hardly an appropriate solution and further highlighted the poor standard of maintenance and response throughout the stay.

To add to this, we had been specifically told before arrival that we were not allowed to bring our own speakers because speakers were supposedly provided at the property. When we arrived, there were no speakers anywhere in the house. Yet another example of the property not matching what was promised.

While the company acknowledged the issues we experienced at Timberley House, their response completely missed the main point — there was no meaningful compensation offered for a stay that was severely impacted by multiple problems they have effectively admitted existed.

The company’s response focused entirely on what they may improve for future guests, such as adjusting heating times and providing portable heaters, but did nothing to properly address the disruption, discomfort, and inconvenience our group actually experienced.

Acknowledging problems after the fact is not the same as resolving them. For the amount paid, we expected a warm, functional property with responsive support, and unfortunately that is not what we received.

Overall, this experience fell well below expectations, especially considering the price paid. Unfortunately, I would not recommend staying here or using Group Retreats.
