I tried selling an item the other day, they said they'll let me know if anyone's interested in it! I can't sign in with Google or click on anything, it just says "error". I didn't really sign up for membership, I just clicked to
the "sell whatever" thing because I wanted to do it for free. So, I have no money to lose and don't want email messages from Guru anymore.

I FOUND SOMEONE ON GURU.COM TO WRITE A ARTICLE FOR ME, THEY SEND ME WORK WITH SPELLING MISTAKES NAD 33% OF THE WORK WAS PLAGIARIZED,

WHEN I CONTACTD GURU TO COMPLAIN AND GET MY MONEY BACK, GURU.COM TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THETY CAN DO ABOUT IT AS THE FREELANCER HAD ALREADY TAKEN THE MONEY OUT OF THEIR ACCOUNT,

I SAID WELL SURELY YOU CAN RECOVER MY FUNDS THEY TOLD ME TO STOP THE PROJECT AND I LOST HALF OF MY MONEY,

I ALSO WROTE TO THEM SAYING SO ANYONE CAN JUST OPEN A ACCOUNT ON GURU.COM AND SCAM PEOPLE,

THEY NEVER RESPONDED,

I FEEL GURU.COM ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR KEEPING THE CUSTOMER SAFE AND THE MONEY SHOULD NET BE RELEASED UNTIL THE JOB IS COMPLTED PROPERLY,

I WOULD NEVER EVER USE GURU.COM AGAIN AND WOULD TELL ANYONE TO STAY FAR AWAY FROM THEM .

Be careful! I've lost 1500$ and guru just deleted my account when I asked for chargeback.
A freelancer through guru.com was supposed to make a website for me. I paid money in several stages, each time the freelancer showed the result of the work. Unfortunately after a few payments the contact was broken and I applied to guru.com for refund. They also stopped responding, I applied for chargeback to the bank. The bank refused and guru.com simply deleted my account and they stopped responding completely. Worst customer service. Never make a deal through guru.

Terry is extremely unprofessional.

I am new to Guru and he took advantage of this weakness. After I gave him the first $250, (instead of having the money held in SafePay) he immediately started to complain: I can't do this, I can't do that, stop asking for so much, etc.

I had the feeling I was dealing with a 15yo boy the whole time. Long story short: At the end of the day, he told me he had to charge $250, the full amount I gave him, only to realize he could not work on the script I needed to have modified.

It took him 15 hours to realize that the script was obfuscated. Sorry, but a good programmer could have told me this after 5 minutes.

Not only will I ask Guru to give me my money back but I will file a complaint with Paypal if they do not.

Stay away from this programmer, really.

If I would have known you do not publish bad feedbacks, I would never have hired any coder on guru.com.

How can I make an enlightened decision if you only publish good feedbacks?

The coder I hired is absolutely TERRIBLE. It was my worst experience ever.

I now request you give me the $250 I gave that coder without having the correct information on him.

Site hungers for your personal data or money.
I needed just one goddamn job done for me and even in this case they wanted ID verification.
Doesn't seem as mere coincidence that verification request came two days after I requested Reference ID for funding my Cash Account at guru.com
Good thing I didn't hurry with money transfer, otherwise I would be facing a dilemma - either lose 500$ or share your personal data with random people.

Why don't they make submitting ID necessary during registration, so everything is crystal clear the moment you want to sign up?

Very good services and good program and using this one from last three years

I have used this company 2 -3 times over the last few years. I provided a service once and bought services twice.

Out of the blue, Guru.com contacted me, asking me to update my identity. I resubmitted a passport scan and some other documents. They told me they could not be verified. I did this two more times but somehow, my documents did not meet Guru's standards.

They retained the small balance ($13.00) I had with them. I wonder how many people they have done this to?

A couple of years ago I was scammed out of $600 by someone on Guru. When I reached out to Guru representatives, they said there was nothing they could do to help me, so I just had to move on with my life and deal with the loss. I have no job, so doing $600 of work and then not getting it was absolutely devastating to me. I still currently have no money, and now Guru has an inappropriate FEE just to verify your ID, which you are forced to do if you want to apply for any jobs. Not only do you have to pay them money just to verify your identity, but you also have to send them TONS of personal information that they should not need under any circumstances. They still let dishonest clients scam people out of $600 without doing ANYTHING about it, but we are the ones who have to verify our accounts and pay to use the website. I just deleted my account. I lost over $600 to Guru and they refuse to pay me back or take accountability for the fact that they have tons of scammers on their site. Don't use Guru!

I would give a zero starts if I could! SCAM!!!!
So as a freelancer for 10 years, I wanted to join their website since I saw a lot of people working there.
I have sent them all stuff that they needed, info, pictures ID (Im an idiot), and then they made a small charge on my bank card to verify it. ok cool.
Then they needed a correct charge and the code sent to a billing statement. So I have sent them those, and they said it didn't match.
I provided a screenshot from the bank, didn't match they said.
I talked to the guys from the bank and they gave me the info...
So I lost a small amount of money, but it doesn't matter.
Run away from this scam! Run fast, run far!

Absolute scum bag run company. IS FAKE NOT LEGIT. There BS charge to verify your card at $9.50 for EVERY customer is fraud. These looser scum are stealing from you and every one that adds a card. THIS COMPANY IS RUN BY THIEVES FOR THIEVES!@

Absolutely full of scammers. I've had the most dreadful experience with them for months now. Zero support from the website. Freelancers are free to do whatever they want, including changing identity, ignoring your emails, not delivering, absolutely anything, no matter the contract says.
AVOID. Worst website ever.

The platform is 90% people pretending to be someone they are not. I reported several scams to Guru and the response is always that they have no power to do anything about it. They have an exceptionally ineffective support team that is not willing to address the issue of their system being filled with scammers. Ensure that any money you spend on Guru is money that you are willing to lose. There is a very good reason that Guru's rating is so much lower than competing platforms - Guru allows scammers to thrive on their system and continuously take advantage of honest customers.

Found a developer from India to develop a website+android+ios app for my business. Signed a contract, used a safepay. According to guru terms of service my money is guru's money once they get them, but they monitor the job too. If they find that the freelancer is unable to deliver on time - guru can work on employers favour...YEAH RIGHT! Not only in my case the freelancer was more than 1 month late, I haven't received a thing! No alpha, no beta test products. Absolutely nothing! Guru arbitration ruled that I was 100% right and refunded the last payment I was due to pay months ago to finalize the job. After I spoke about the rest of the money paid already, they closed my job on guru, then blocked messaging to the freelancer. I turned to guru customer service seeking help, and they ignored me for 2 weeks. Once I turned to PayPal (that's how I transferred my money), guru got in touch with me within a couple of hours! They only thing they wanted - to remove my dispute from paypal so they could discuss my problem with them. I refused and demanded 100% refund. No one from guru ever contacted me. They closed my account and removed all files I had there (luckily I saved it all on hard drive and still got it). PayPal refunded 2 out of 5 payments and accepted my evidence. Other 3 are still under review. AVOID GURU.COM BY ALL MEANS AND LET OTHERS KNOW THAT THESE SCAMMERS FARM FAKE ACCOUNTS TO MILK MONEY FROM PEOPLE WHO WANT TO START THEIR BUSINESS OR DO THE JOB. Just a hint, when you own a web service like guru, you don't have to rely on REAL freelancers. All you need a bunch of people who will sit behind the desk 24/7 and accepting jobs and taking money on safepay, pretending being freelancers. Absolutely fake service, 100% scam scheme. Just a heads up, if you were scammed by them, and paid with paypal, contact paypal and provide them with all you got. It helped me!

Scammed by PROSEIGNER

I have been sacmmed by this guy about 5 years and I am still surprised to see reviews now in 2021 being scammed by the same user.

I think this website is operated by professional scammers and they keep on getting away with and they will continue to get away with it.

There is nothing you can do to stop them.

Save yourself, money and time. Never ever use them.

First time using Guru to find someone who could make me a android app. After carefully going through all the suggestions i enlisted a freelancer by the name of PROSEIGNER supposedly based in Canada. His profile had 100's of reviews and they were all outstanding, one of the reasons why i had chosen him. Later on i realised this was all fake or artificially done as there is no other explanation for it. The discussions started all sweet but after a month and so many missed deadlines and after realising that he didn't do anything i confronted him and he turned into the most sinister lying individual I've ever come across in life. i opened a dispute with Guru and my money got returned minus all the fees, currency conversions i lost about $150. From that Guru took about $50 for arbitration. totally unfair practice i should be returned my full payment. After my complaint or others complaints they should have removed this individual from their platforms as i found later many more trust pilot reviews on this Proseigner scamming others. Yet he still operates on GURU with a outstanding profile.
