Harriets Cafe Tearooms Opiniones 

Went here yesterday as it’s a favourite little spot, food is always nice and usually the young girls and guys serving are polite and helpful. We popped in at about 2pm for something to eat and there were 5-6 staff there, not very busy and we were sat in our seats and were left for 20 minutes or more and no one came to our table to take our order or even tell us that someone would be with us soon. We got up and left and had a word with the manager..
Having worked in top end retail for many years I know that one unhappy customer will tell 20 people about their bad experience and then each of those 20 will each tell another 20 people. So that could be 100’s of potential customers lost. Such a shame as it is a lovely place to eat and the food is good. Stepping up the customer service training will improve the experience so much better in so many ways.

Visited the Bury St Edmunds branch for my mother in law’s birthday. Looks beautiful on the surface but once inside it’s a little tatty. It was a very cold day and there was no heating on..it was colder inside than outside!

The girls serving were very polite and knowledgeable so I wouldn’t fault the service. However the food and tea was not what I would have expected. I had peppermint tea which was like water despite letting it brew. The teapots dribble when you pour so you end up with a wet table. The food was average at best.

I wouldn’t visit again. A shame because it’s a great location and has a lot of potential but needs work.

When we go to Norwich we always go into Harriets cafe tearooms for lunch.we havnt been for a while and i was quite dissapointed with the time it took ,we went upstairs it was cold .It took 15 mins for the drinks to turn up and about 20 for food staff were really nice.we had a all day breakfast the bacon was fatty with no taste and sausages had no taste and toast was cold .I think they must have a new supplier because it was very tasteless and we also asked for mustard dont do it.They used to bring up the mustard,sauces etc in small china pots now its silly plastic bottles such a shame used to love going in their wonder if its under new management

From the outside the cafe looks beautiful. Then you walk in to see young staff walking around as though they are working against their will. Not a smile between them. I was handed the cutlery with a dirty napkin and the food didn’t improve things either. I had to swap sausages with my daughter because hers had been cremated, the toast was warm bread and the mushrooms just had zero flavour but enough oil to cook a further 4 fry ups. This was the Bury St Edmunds premises and definitely recommend almost all other cafes in town over this one.

Food came eggs not cooked correctly as asked for

New meal then took 15 minutes

Why one of us had to eat and then wait

This isn’t even the worst bit

The attitude of the manager was basically tuff trying to tell me what would be expectable

To be clear the customer who’s paying shouldn’t be made to feel in the wrong

After the foods incorrect on both occasions
This sort of behaviour is not acceptable

Shame as the setting is nice and shouldn’t be judged on bad staff and poor management

But it will not be tolerated

Really lovely atmosphere, great staff and fresh food. Something traditional and classic as opposed to the generic coffee chains

Afternoon tea for party in upstairs room....was beyond freezing cold and when asked for heating was told no heating upstairs ..... selection of food and amount of food for £20 compared to other afternoon teas i,ve had is very poor ..... how can justify £20 for what we got is a rip off.... Slow service ...1 girl on her own... sadly won t return or be recommending .

Been having lunch at Harriet’s Norwich for years. Walked in yesterday to be told no tables for one, and turned away. Although tables empty, told they were reserved.. not offered the option to wait…went future along and had a lovely lunch. Very disappointed.
Have never been told this before.

What ever has happened to Harriet's Tea rooms in Norwich? I took my sister in law for lunch there yesterday, my second visit in the last couple of months. I was very disappointed with the service, food and facilities. How they've let their standards drop so far I'm sure I don't know. There is only one toilet for all customers regardless of gender. When I asked the waitress about the toilets she informed me in an offhand manner the roof had caved in a while ago and she didn't know when the landlord was going to fix it. We ordered our meal and when it came there was no customary rest for the strainer so asked her where it was, she said she couldn't find one so left a paper towel on the side so that I could rest the tea strainer on it after I had poured my tea. When our meal came the waitress asked if we wanted any sauces, I asked her for vinegar and she bought a bottle to our table with enough for one person, I asked for some more vinegar and the waitress bought a full bottle, however a short time later the waitress asked for the vinegar for another customer, it seemsthere was only one bottle of vinegar for all the customers. The meal itself was was a little lacking compared with pre lockdown standards and the customer service and level of waitressing needs improving. Unfortunately for Harriets there are many quality cafes and tea rooms in the immediate area.

Really disappointed that Harriet’s cafe tea rooms Norwich has really gone downhill over the past few months. Lack of staff, tea strainer with no holder to put it on, given a napkin to place it, only one vinegar bottle to be shared on all tables, small amount of milk to share for two people, food not rated and last of all, one toilet to be shared by female, male and disabled. Would have given zero star if possible. Will not be visiting again.

A really lovely place, clean a step back in time. Lovely friendly staff very attentive. A Birthday surprise at the end of our meal. Could not fault anything. At least twice monthly event. Keep up the great work. Thank you all.

Harriet’s tea room in Norwich is the worst restaurant in the city,we have been there on many occasions over the last 15 years and the last few times the service and cleanliness has gone down hill,cold food is the order of the day and the staff don’t seem to be motivated in any way,the single toilet is not fit for human use and should be shut down of looked after properly.

I love everything about Harriets! From the ease of placing my order online, to delivery of my order, and finally the quality of food provided. Everything tastes so fresh and amazing! The only thing I have trouble with is the price of it all, but it is well worth it. I will always pick Harriets for my special afternoon tea!

Easy to place the order and given regular updates on how the order was progressing. This was a Mother's Day present and the afternoon tea arrived when expected and my mum thought it was lovely.

Had the best ever breakfast today, well presented and so tasty. The staff were polite and smart. Good luck to the new owner, we will return and recommend.

Excellent delivery and wonderful fresh tea. For my personal tastes I’d prefer a little more savoury but then most delivered tea boxes have no savoury at all…I guess difficult to keep fresh.
Had a little confusion over the macaroon order but sorted immediately.

Absolutely delighted! Ordered Afternoon Tea for 2 to be delivered to my Mum for Mothers Day. She said it was fabulous and beautifully presented too.

The best afternoon tea delivery we’ve found. Lovely fresh selection of sandwiches, delicious cakes and scones. And all enjoyed in the comfort of home. Reliable delivery service. What’s not to love?!

As I was ordering for family in a different part of the country I was a little apprehensive. I was able to follow delivery by the hour which was brilliant. The afternoon tea was delivered on time and packed perfectly, even down to little ice packs for the clotted cream!
Mixture of sandwiches was to everyone's taste, lovely and fresh, as we're the scones and cakes.
Quite frankly, I couldn't fault anything. I will be happy to order again in the future.
