I really do like this razor

I really do like this razor. At first I wasn’t too keen on it because I hacked myself up pretty good and my whole face burned and went red after each shave. I kept at it until I finally realized I there is a bit of a curve on the re-learning how to use the old style razor I started out on more than 50 years ago. A new and improved razor mind you but still the double edged system. Now I get good close painless shaves with no blood loss or red rash. You have to be much gentler than you do with convention 4 or 5 blade systems. So, I eased up on the pressure and slowed down on the stokes and still I can shave with water only. I bought a box of 100 blades with the razor and my guess is that at several shaves per blade, like 8 to 10, even with a pretty tough beard, and 3-4 days between shaves, I now have years of blades on hand that are a tiny fraction of the price I was previously paying. Couldn’t be happier.

Fantastic razor and customer service

I’ve had a AL13 for sometime, I noticed a strange pattern fade of the anodisation on the top plate.

I contacted customer service and they responded promptly with understanding. Unfortunately given the age of my razor they have moved to the V2 so helped me with a discounted new razor.

I’m in the UK and the replacement was sent and received within a week.

Fantastic after sales and customer service.

I’ll hopefully upgrade to the ti22 :)

Beautiful razor but ordinary shave

Well, I was impressed by the dude in marketing’s video and ordered this rasor. It looks pretty and very light weight body BUT!! those made in India blades aren’t different than other grandpa era’s blades.
My cartridge razors are much smoother than this razor. I never had any fears of cuts while using cartridge razors but I used this razor twice since I received it and I had cut on my face every time. I had rash and uneven shave. I won’t recommend this razor for facial shave

We are sorry to hear this. Our recommendation would be to install another blade and see if your results change. Many users also discover that they need to apply less pressure with this razor than they do with a cartridge razor. Too much inward pressure could be your cause of irritation.

not shipping product

Ordered a razor from them and they have not shipped it (both tracking numbers note the shipping company has been notified a label is created but they have not received the package from henson yet)

after talking to their support they just let me know I need to contact them again to request a refund after 30 days and will not help actually try to get the product shipped.

I bought from abroad (Denmark) and ended up paying much more than for customs and shipping. The worst part is that the razor is actual garbage for me, borderlining fraud. I have sensitive skin and I like a clean shave. 1) it was not possible to have a clean shave and 2) my skin was super irritated. DO NOT BUY IT, IT IS A SCAM.

Great overall customer service.

Bought their product (to shave), but it didn't end up working out for me because of how my skin/hair is. They shipped out the product to me in 2 days, and when I asked to start the return process, they gave me a full refund instantly and allowed me to keep the product or give it to a friend. Great customer service.

They say they've shipped, but I received no message with tracking information

Maybe I'll increase the rating if and when I actually see that they've made an effort to ship me what I paid for, or that they bother to respond to an email inquiry.

I'm hoping to eventually see the razor and try it out, but right now I'm struggling with if this is a scam, or just really, really bad order fulfillment. Given the bloated shipping fees they apply to their product (for domestic shipping in Canada... where they're produced), I was expecting to see confirmation of shipment the next day after I placed my order. Third full day since they accepted my money, and crickets. I expect far, far better from Canadian companies.

As it stands, the only recommendation I would give to friends would be not to buy from them.

Update: Based on their reply, I've added an additional star because they say they've fulfilled and shipped the order. More stars pending, once I receive it. Since I never got an email providing tracking information, nor had they responded to my prior email sent to their support email address, the jury is out till I see when and if something arrives. When I do see something, I'll adjust the entire review (and rating) based on what I see and experience. Maybe they're overwhelmed with queries and orders, or maybe they've got some internal communication issues. Either way, it makes for a shaky and not very comfortable consumer experience.

Update: 2022.10.07
So, the package arrived in the mail today. The razor looks really nice (anodized black), and the fit and finish of the assembly is excellent. Very tight tolerances, and well manufactured. I am yet to use the razor for shaving, but as soon as I do I will update this review again with my assessments. As it stands, I'm very happy with the shipping times and the quality of the product. The only two negatives are the lack of shipping notification for the customer, and that reference purchases are rewarded at a much higher level than those that took the risk to buy the razor without any personal recommendations from friends or associates.

My experience with the AL13 medium…

My experience with the AL13 medium razor was satisfactory, but my experience with the AL13 razor was not satisfactory. I could not obtain a close shave. Consequently, per the website, I ordered the AL 13 medium. However, when I attempted to return the AL 13 razor following the website instructions, I notified Henson of my desire to return it for a full refund. Despite the original request and a follow up email, I have heard nothing from Henson about how to return the razor and receive the promised refund. I've only received automated responses saying Henson will be in touch. Yet nothing has followed. Needless to say, I am very disappointed by this situation and will not be recommending Henson to my friends. After I posted this review initially, Henson actually followed through and gave me a full refund on the first razor I purchased, including the sales tax. So, I've revised my review to reflect this. However, I still remain impressed by the technical aspects of the medium razor but am underwhelmed by its shaving performance.

Haven’t used a safety razor in years

Haven’t used a safety razor in years. Got tired of all the nicks and cuts every time I shaved. Never threw out my old supply of safety razor blades. Tried multiple blade throwaway razors, even an electric razor followed by a 4 blade razor to clean up. Finally came across Henson safety razor and am thoroughly impressed. Took me a couple shaves to get the right angle, but I am happy to report a fantastic shave and no nicks! Unbelievable! Will be unplugging my electric and multiblade razors and investing in some shave cream and moisturizer. Great job Henson Shaving!

Wanted to return the product

Wanted to return the product - there are no US address to return and shipping to Canada makes expensive and cost prohibitive - a sneaky way of refusing the returns

UNBELIEVABLY GOOD SHAVE

I purchased this razor after reading some the the reviews. I wasn’t expecting much! Wow, was I surprised! This is the best shave I have had in years! Well worth every penny.

So, here was my overall experience...
1) package arrived quickly (Toronto)
2) nice packaging
3) was impressed with how the razor felt, light but nicely machined
4) cool color!
5) Easy to instal blade
6) Unbelievably close shave. There was no razor burn, one pass to do the job when I typically have to go over the same tough areas a few times and my face was soft and smooth after!

Now I am a huge fan of HENSON SHAVING. I ordered the big pack of blades. I recommend you get these with your order as well.

I noticed with some, weight is an issue. I am used to a heavier razor. I had no issue with this. It is light, but I have quickly gotten used to it.

Don't buy from abroad - Hidden costs coming

As others ordering from abroad, I have been very surprised to received 3 weeks after delivery an invoice of nearly US$ 40 for an order of US$ 80 (excluding shipping costs). Quality of the product is good, and shipping is fast, but a hidden price increase of 50% is not acceptable.

When I contacted Henson, they just indicated that "it is custom to expect duties and tax charges appropriate to your country", even though nothing indicates this on their website.

Great for beginners and experienced users

Great razor! Very good if you are just getting into safety razors as well. I had one concerns with the handle grip based on the photos but once I got the razor and began using it it is good. They have made a good choice with the blades as well. I've been using these blades for a long time prior to buying this razor.
