First purchase

I just made my first purchase of the air purifying bundle. I wasn't able to access the directions for care and emailed customer service for help. They responded within a couple of hours and helped me get back on track. I was impressed.
I can't speak to the longevity of the plants or service, but my initial experience has been positive.

So disappointed

The first few times I've ordered from them were great. The plants were well packaged and alive. I placed an order with them wanting to acquire one of the same plants I had previously purchased bc I forgot to bring it inside for the cold snap. I decided to buy a few other things since it was free shipping over 95 dollars. My box comes in and one of the plants completely came out of the planter pot they put it in and is ruined. No big deal since I know how package handlers can be. But then I dig further and see that I'm completely missing a plant. I sent pictures and an email promptly. Which was responded to buy offering replacements since the two missing/damaged ones were out of stock. Again, no big deal. Stuff happens. This however is where it goes completely downhill. I responded to the email asking if I could just comp a medium plant in place of the two small ones and that I would be okay with losing out on the rest of the money only for the fact that I really wanted to support them. They responded asking for pictures which I told them I already sent. I've sent numerous emails asking for help and even called their sister company trying to get in touch with them. It's really disappointing since I was amazed with the quality of plants I previously purchased and still have. I recommended them to anyone but now, unfortunately with no resolution and I'm out of money, I will make sure to steer people to another reliable, more reputable source for plants.

Edit: they claim they didnt haven't anyone staffed on the weekend even though I was clearly communicating with two different people on Saturday.

Hi Jennifer, we're so sorry for the damaged/missing plant as well as the experience overall. A manager has reached out to you directly, but I know some of the frustration resulted from our Customer Service team not being staffed over the weekend. We typically get back to customers same business day or by next business day at the latest, but certainly that expectation wasn't clearly communicated to you that despite receiving responses on Friday afternoon from one of our agents, you likely wouldn't get a response again until Monday, which is what happened.

We see that our agent initially responded to you same day, on a Friday, and you were issued a full refund by end of day Monday.

We will absolutely work on making it clearer to customers on what expectations should be in terms of receiving responses on weekends or holidays. Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback!

Beautiful plant options, friendly customer service

I ordered 3 plants from Hey Rooted. One of my plants (watermelon peperomia)
arrived looking pretty rough. The plant looked like it has been through some things either before it left the warehouse or some time during shipping. A few of the leaves had fallen off and some of the leaves that are still in tact were broken and looking kind of sad. My peperomia hope plant had lost a stem & some petals too when I took them out of the box. My Prayer plant looked great! I’m a novice plant owner so I was a bit concerned & emailed customer service. They were very kind & helpful and assured me that peperomias are resilient and offered advice on how to care for them. They also offered me a replacement plant or a discount code to reorder at the price of my damaged plants if I wanted & so I was satisfied with that. Grateful to have the option to replace the plants if these little guys can’t seem to bounce back but I’m hopeful. :)

Outstanding team!!!

The Hey Rooted team is outstanding in many more ways than one. I had placed an order for a Monstrose cactus but it seemed like it was taking longer to ship than usual. It stated that label was already created just waiting on the item.
When I emailed them and let me know, they told me there was an inventory issues especially with the weather.
The kindness and compassion they have, they offered me three options to choose from in order to resolve the issue.
When I say I have been ordering plants from them for over a year, they have always been extremely kind and understanding. I tell people all the time about Hey Rooted they have sent me some of the healthiest plants I could ever imagine. Over 50% of collection is from Hey Rooted.
I will always support them!! With their knowledge and care of the plants you couldn’t ask for a better company and they are reasonably priced as well.
Thank you Hey Rooted for always making me feel apart of the community being a newbie in all of this!!!

For my first order I had ordered a small money tree and a pothos. When they arrived they looked extremely sickly. I emailed customer service and included some photos, and they responded very quickly with solutions. I placed my 2nd order to replace the first and I am very happy with the product I received.

Great Customer Service

I received a plant damaged in our last winter blizzard. I took a picture, and notified the company and within 24 hours I received a choice of replacement plant or code for a new plant later. The company was so fast and so polite that I happily recommend Rooted for you plant needs.

Do Not Buy Plants online in the winter

Unfortunately I purchased a plant in the winter. I received my Braided Money Tree, Xl, on January 2, 2026.

I paid for winter packaging. The plant arrived with several leaves damaged with frostbite. The tree
was stressed from the trip and cold.

The winter packaging (only cushioned brown paper) was not sufficient in protecting the plant.
The condition of the tree got worst.
I had to remove all the leaves since they were dead and the tree itself does not look like it will survive.

I was only offered a discount code for a future purchase and not a refund. I hope the next plant I buy is healthy. I was very disappointed since the reviews were good for Hey Rooted.

Getting plants shipped always incurs a bit of risk, and a plant I ordered arrived worse for wear due to some rough handling in transit. The Hey Rooted team were very understanding and quick to find a solution. Was given the option of a replacement for the expired plant or a credit to purchase another of a different species. I have delt with Hey Rooteds customer service on a couple of occasions they are top notch and I have always had satisfactory outcomes. I do suggest that if you purchase a plant or two from Hey Rooted that you do so in the late spring to early fall seasons as the sippers do not handle them well and they often get frozen!!!
I will be purchasing more plant babies from them!

2 dead plants in gift order

EDIT: The company issued a refund and a credit as a resolution.

I ordered two plants as a birthday gift for my mother. When ordering l, the website said 3-8 days timing on the order. It took over two weeks to arrive and despite meticulous packaging, arrived frozen and dead. Additionally, the gift message, which was supposed to be sent when the plants were delivered, was sent early, spoiling the gift surprise. Upon contacting the company, supplying photos of the dead plants and requesting a refund, the company then requested photos of the packaging of the plants. This is a ridiculous ask of a person who received a gift. I was offered a credit for replacement of the “plant” (even though there were clearly TWO PLANTS in the order that had died). I will never do business with this company again. I regret not reading reviews before placing my order as it is clear that this company has many issues it needs to resolve.

I ordered 4 small plants for my sister’s birthday, 3 weeks ahead of time. At the time of order, shipment time was stated as 5-8 business days. Delivery didn’t happen until 2 weeks after her birthday. They also got the delivery address wrong, using the billing address instead, so I had to pay $17 to UPS to correct that mistake. Customer service said they were “looking into it”, then never got back to me. The gift card on the outside of the package had the information reversed (wishing me a happy birthday from my sister), even though it was correct on the inside. I have screenshots of how I placed the order, so was able to confirm these were all their errors. I also chose them because of the Wirecutter recommendation. I will never order from them again.

Plants Arrived Dead

I ordered 4 plants for my brother for his birthday and all of the plants arrived withered and dead. The pots also had scuff marks on them. Wirecutter recommended Rooted as the number one place to order plants and I feel scammed. Do not trust this site to deliver healthy plants.

Poor quality plants

The quality of their plants is low. It can delivered have soil spilled everywhere and the entire plant stems broke. There was only a spilled pot of soil when it was delivered. It was a gift and I was embarrassed to have sent it as a gift. For the price, I am disappointed.

Air Plant Collector

I ordered what was suppose to be a King of Air Plants, Extra Large plant from Hey Rooted. This was my first purchase from the site. The plant turned out to be more like a large air plant. Definitely not an extra large. But, what really upset me was the rot with brown and black spots on the plant. It had rot at the base. Two leaves on the plant were totally dead and the plant had a mildew smell. I love plants and ordered from several different vendors in the past. Hey Rooted is the first vendor that has disappointed me. I had high hopes that were dashed with a sub par product. Hope I can save the plant. For the price I paid I expected an extra large healthy plant, not a large rotted one. Save your money or go elsewhere.

Excellent customer service

Excellent customer service. The plants I have are in excellent shape, and they've had some unique specimens that I haven't seen in my local nurseries. They do seem to have some trouble with one of the shipping companies in the heat and some other minor logistical concerns. However they are very responsive, usually (probably every time) getting back to me on the same day I message them, and they have been very accommodating to make sure I end the interaction satisfied.

Fabulous in all respects!

Hey Rooted’s customer service is outstanding! I had a couple of quirky questions about my order, and they responded quickly and kindly. They went above and beyond to make sure my experience with their website and plants was excellent. And not to mention—their plants are all stunningly green, healthy, and luscious. I can’t wait to keep filling my home with their greenery!

Making Right Where FedEx Dropped It

I wrote a review about not receiving an air plant and not being able to get through on the phone. Come to find out that was not the right phone number listed. John from Hey Rooted called and knows I did not receive it He did not make excuses, he handled it perfectly and knows I love his plants. I was able to get through with an email.
Thank you so much John for calling. I knew something was off because we have been doing wonderful business together for a long time.
Do not take my word for it. Go to the website and find yourself a gorgeous plant for yourself or for the plant lover in your life.
