I strongly do not recommend Capitalize Money Inc for handling rollovers. What should have been a straightforward process turned into weeks of unnecessary delays, inconsistent communication, and ultimately a frustrating experience that wasted my time.

I initiated the rollover from Fidelity via a phone call and submitted the required one-time form on January 10, 2026. On January 12, they confirmed forwarding it to their back-office team for pre-filling. After hearing nothing further, I followed up on February 2. On February 3, they replied that the forms were still in the pre-fill and review process, with a promise to notify me when ready for signature.
Frustrated by the lack of progress, I requested cancellation on February 3. They responded the same day claiming they had already received my "Letter of Acceptance" and could now process the rollover, asking if I still wanted to cancel. I replied on February 4 asking for a realistic timeline. Their response that day was vague: "We will reach out to you once it is all good to go."
Communication was primarily with Jonel Villote during this period.

On February 11, I received two emails from Capitalize: one stating my rollover request had been canceled, and another from Dan Heffernan checking in to see if I still needed help with the rollover from Fidelity and inviting me to reply.

I responded the same day expressing my disappointment with the entire experience. Dan replied on February 13 apologizing for the inconvenience but claiming they had received my cancellation request on February 3, attempted follow-ups that day and on February 11, but "did not hear back from [me]." He added that all paperwork was now ready if I wanted to proceed.

This last response left me stunned. I had replied multiple times throughout the process (including on February 2, 3, 4, and 11), yet they claimed no response was received after my cancellation request. This apparent failure to track or acknowledge my communications, combined with the multi-week delays on a simple pre-fill and review step, demonstrates serious issues with organization, responsiveness, and basic customer service.

The rollover process dragged on for over a month with minimal progress, vague updates, and what feels like misrepresentation of the email history. I expected a professional, efficient service for something as important as retirement funds, but this was the opposite—horrendous and unreliable.

Avoid Capitalize if you're considering a rollover. The headaches far outweigh any convenience they claim to provide.

Very quick and easy way to rollover an old work 401K to a 3rd party IRA. Much easier than the traditional paperwork. They followed up at each step of the process.

The whole process went poorly from the start. The rollover was supposed to be done directly/automatically. Instead, without notice a check showed up at my house. Once I forwarded it to Capitalize, it has disappeared and is still not appearing in my new 401(k) plan. Extremely dissatisfied.
