NETGEAR is the WORST network equipment

NETGEAR is the WORST network equipment you can buy out there. I bought Nighthawk X4S for $400 it worked for only 2 years and died. After that I bought a modern CAX80 WiFi cable Router for $450, which also worked for less than 2 years and died today. You won't get any support after the warranty period passed. I think renting a router with my ISP is much cheaper then buying routers from NETGEAR every 2 years!!! Trash and garbage!!! Never buy their equipment!

Takes months to answer a support ticket just to be misinformed...

I am having a hard time reasoning with why I should stick with their products when they clearly don't even have enough people to do something that cannot be done without a CS rep. All I want to do is transfer my existing membership I paid for onto my Orbi system being tested now after it was factory reset. They state they have no record of this, however I have the receipt of 1 year of service I paid for 5 months ago. Absurd and pretty useless if I have to literally send them a copy of my receipt for them to look it up (I'm using the same email as my account.)

Dishonest business with good hardware, lazy and hard-to-reach support, and shady business practices

Orbi app unavailable for/on Pixel Tablet.

Can't log in to the Orbi app with my (correct) credentials.

Can't remove my old phone nor add my new one as a trusted device in-app after logging in with a one-time password.

Can't update firmware in-app, says it's up-to-date when it isn't.

Tries to sell you unnecessary and unwanted subscriptions.

Apparently removed their main profile full of negative reviews (netgear.com) from Trustpilot to censor negative reviews.

Support is nearly impossible to reach and requires router reset before escalating issues for actual, proper troubleshooting (!).

Update: after multiple e-mails and refusing to reset my router to solve a 2FA issue (?!), Netgear finally suggested something that worked (despite not fixing the bug).

If you can not do what you say... don't sell it.

Order placed. Needed for a next day. Then order status switched to "Exception". Support told me order was cancelled because it was not paid. This morning, the order is paid but still in exception... so it was not cancelled... but definitively won't be delivered today as promised... the lack of professionalism of the customer support is awfull... I have placed another order on a concurrent website, is going to be delivered in an hour... but now I will have to return the Netgear order as it can no longer be cancelled.... from a customer point of view, a farce and huge lack of reliability.

Netgear Gearhead Fraud

My Nighthawk Router Modem Combo stopped working, so I called Netgear Support. The agent told me that if she was able to successfully get the unit working, I would be charged for a service plan ($139.99) but that I would NOT be charged if it was not operational while on the call. She charged my credit card before hanging up, saying it was going to work as soon as it finished re-booting. It did not. The unit was dead after less than two years. I called back and requested a refund. The associate said he would process it but it might take several days to appear on my credit card statement. After two weeks, I called back and explained the situation. Netgear is refusing the refund. They lied and defrauded me out of $139.99 Please don't support this company!

Habe einen WLAN Stick von Netgear…

Habe einen WLAN Stick von Netgear erworben nach rund einen Jahr gieng dieser leider nicht mehr. Um den Support zu schreiben benötigt man erstmal einen Netgear Account erstellen dann mit einer Angelika vom Support geschrieben die mir erstmal tausende Sachen gesagt hat was ich machen soll und zu überprüfen das der auch wirklich defekt ist nun nach rund einen Monat hin und her schreiben immernoch auf keine Lösung gekommen das ist mit Abstand der schlechteste Support der Welt. Hoffe nach wie vor auf eine Lösung aber ehrlich gesagt sehe ich mit diesem Support schwarz das war mein erster und letzter Netgear Artikel werde Zukünftig bei der Konkurrenz kaufen hatte eh mit meinen TP Link Artikeln noch nie Probleme

IT took me literally over 100 phone…

IT took me literally over 100 phone calls to support before a technician picked up. I also had to file a dispute with my Credit card company. Technician says " before we go further it's going to be $198.00" i had just purchased the wifi extender with a 90 day warranty. It was too weak to reach my location. "Well this is tech support and it's $198.00. I hung up. I eventually received my credit on my card but it took 90 days, a whole 3 months. Plus around 100 phone calls listening to horrible canned " on hold" music. They have no customer support at all. 100 phone calls? Never again. I purchased it straight from Netgear and not Amazon. Edit: I need to be fair and let people know that it took me, Netgear, and my credit card company and my State's Attorney General's consumer division before they responded in 90 days with a nice friendly letter with an apology. They also credited back my card.

Worthless Customer Support

I purchased a Netgear Switch for the purpose of providing a single internet Moden/Router line to service two devices. The Switch acted really strange, it did provide lights as indicated on each line showing it was connected and an occasional brief flash on the modem/router incoming line.
Neither device would function, however, even with switching port locations, rebooting, going through all of the permutations. I finally relented and dropped an email to Customer Support.

I sent in a detailed description to them, and I got an email back asking for a detailed description of the problem. Huh? Resubmitted the same description again and received gibberish back, as though they had not read either submission.
I resubmitted a more detailed description and got more simple-minded blather back. These support people are useless, to put it kindly, and they did not solve anything. Finally returned the switch to the store and got a refund. No more Netgear for me!

to whom it may concern, i engaged netgear for a prestigious project. i created the network design as a subcontractor. i had the support letters and etc. i brought them into my project supply 70 m4300 switches. the main contractor when directly to netgear singapore to purchase the switches even though i had a agreement. i contacted singaport netgear and they replied that they will support him not as much as they will support me. i was thinking what the hecj does that mean. i have emails and proof going back months. they stole my network designs and decided to bypass me. contacted them and multiple times ignored me. do not deal with project with Singapore Netgear as they are money motivated and unprincipled and zero ethics. i further contacted Netgear USA and seems as same as singapore. i hav been purchasing netgear switches for many years and for that project for the POC i purchased directly from them.. they away from Singapore Netgear i rather buy TPLINK or PLanet switches as least they have principles.

Netgear wirbt bei vielen ihrer Produkte mit einer Lebenslangen Garantie. Im Grantiefall muss man sich jedoch durch eine lausig designte Website quälen, mehrfach seine Daten in zu viele Formulare tippen und Durchblick in einer Flut aus Mails behalten. Man ist besser beraten wenn man kleinere Produkte einfach noch einmal kauft... Wenn man sich jedoch durchgekämpft hat funktioniert alles reibungslos. Trotzdem 3 Sterne weil der Support äußerst kompetent war und bei Problemen sehr schnell & präzise helfen konnte. Wartezeiten waren nicht vorhanden.

I will never purchase a Netgear product again. I spent 600 on flag ship router which is utter garbage. No support from the Tech guys who like to drop the call on you and don't call you back. Buyer beware!

Purchased a Netgear extender in 2014

Purchased a Netgear extender in 2014. It is still functioning OK but every 6 month I get an email telling me to update its software. So I spend about half a day via PC and Smartphone but have failed miserably for 6 year to Update the unit. Help is not forthcoming and the cost for help would allow me to buy a new unit. So purchased BT unit instead for other end of house.

Dishonest Customer Service

I purchased a Netgear R6000 two years ago. The device failed 10 days after the warranty expired due to a component failure (talk about design to fail accuracy). Despite this, Netgear fail to understand that there is a requirement to replace or repair products suffering a hardware fault for up to 7 years (6 years in Scotland). I called product support, they agreed and promised to call back with details of the replacement. This didn't happen. My notes haven't been updated and I'm now in have call centres in India constantly hanging up on my call. I will now be escalating to trading standards and Amazon.

BEWARE OF PURCHASING NETGEAR PRODUCTS

If you are having trouble with you modem/ router after the technical support warranty runs out, expect to pay additional money to get it resolved even though the hardware warranty is for 1 year. I should have known something was wrong when I had to contact technical support just to inquire about my 1 year warranty. Once you contact technical support, the first gentleman ask you about how many lights are on the modem and from there, he can determine if it’s a hardware problem. All the lights were working so he ruled out a problem with the hardware. After this it all down hill because to speak to a technician, you have to purchase a support package. If you don’t purchase a support package, your support ends right here. Okay I purchase a support package for one year costing me $125.00. He then transferred me to technical support. All this guy did was walk me through resetting and re-configuring on Netgear website now my modem is working properly. What a scam! So you tell me, the first gentleman could not have told me to try this first before charging me $125.00 . To add injury to insult, they actually tried to pretend this is a normal way of doing business. Give me a break!

NETGEAR's TrustPilot page is Unclaimed

NETGEAR's TrustPilot page is Unclaimed. Not surprising if you've needed support for a NETGEAR product. It's amazing and frustrating how little they care about their customers once they already have your money! Their warranty is, in my opinion, a total scam, and possibly unlawful depending on where you live.

I purchased (and registered) my NETGEAR RAX35 router on 2020-01-19, so I’ve been using it for less than 6 months, and their 1 year warranty for my router is supposedly good until 2021-01-18.

But their warranty scam is to limit "support" to just 90 days and then refuse to help unless you pay for a "NETGEAR GearHead Technical Support” plan, which costs from "$49.99 Per Incident” all the way up to $229.00 for their 2 year plan (over 2x what I paid for their stupid router)!

What about their so-called 1 year warranty? They get around that by claiming that it’s only for “hardware” issues and that there’s no way it’s a “hardware" issue because the router worked OK when it was brand new. Their representative of course couldn’t explain why their customers would have to pay extra for support when NETGEAR routers often stop working due to NETGEAR’s own firmware updates. He also couldn’t explain why my older NETGEAR router that I still happened to have, worked when I switched back to it after being unable to get my newer NETGEAR router to work again. I finally got so frustrated that I had to abruptly end the call and post my comments here on TrustPilot.

Further proof that NETGEAR could care less about its customers? If they refuse to respond to my (or other) TrustPilot comments, even after I email my comments to NETGEAR's U.S. Media Contact (Nathan Papadopulos, 408-890-3889, NPapadopulos-at-netgear-dot-com), to NETGEAR U.S. Sales Inquiries (408-907-8000, sales-at-netgear-dot-com), and to NETGEAR Investor Relations (Erik Bylin investors-at-netgear-dot-com).

Based on my experience and what I’ve read about NETGEAR, it also won’t surprise me if they put more effort into trying to get my comments blocked from TrustPilot, then they will put into providing good customer support.
