Low quality work, abandoned us before completion
Hired Lehaps to replace a gas boiler with an electric boiler. The quote included a powerflush heating radiator/ circuits, and the work started early November 2024.
The work done by Melford Willie was very messy and untidy, including a large area of black stains over our hall carpet. The powerflush was totally ineffective, and we have since had to pay over £500 for a proper professional powerflush.
Melford installed a timer he did not have the capability to make work, and unilaterally swapped it for a second one, which was a low-end one not designed to control the hot water and heating separately. I asked for that to be changed, and to be fair, this was done. But this third one was a second-hand unit without documentation or guarantee. He couldn't get that working properly, so put in a fourth one, again second-hand, and again not working. I paid for an engineer to check it, and he said a timing relay in the unit was broken.
I ask Melford to do the right thing and simply fit a new one, with manufacturers guarantee, but he not only refused to do this saying we should buy it ourselves, but then did not reply to any attempt to contact him.
Without any timing control whatsoever, we are using a very large amount of electricity, £100 worth each week simply to heat a small flat.
We feel totally abandoned, and the low quality of his work has already caused considerable expense, and even now is continuing to do so.
