We contacted Katandra Interiors for Luxaflex roller blinds after a long search for a blind fabric that suited our vision. The team at Katandra were responsive and professional throughout our experience. and we a very pleased with the outcome and the final product.

Initially, we were very happy with our new cable guided Luxaflex Evo blinds and the advice we got from Luxaflex retailers in Perth and Busselton. The product quality seemed high so we thought we had invested well even though the Luxaflex option was quite expensive compared to other quotes we got. Katandra’s quote and order went through quickly and the installers were highly professional, excellent and great to work with. We even ordered another item because we were very happy with the service. However, about six weeks after they were installed, one moderate gust of wind broke the plastic clips connecting the tie-down straps on two of the blinds with the loops which secure them to the decking. The advice we got from the retailer prior to ordering the Evo cable guided blinds was that they were suitable for the windy conditions of our location. This was backed up by information we found on the Luxaflex website and brochure which says that “hold down straps or locking bolts ensure the awning is secured in very windy conditions" and that Evo cable guided blinds have been tested to withstand wind of up to 67kph. Since we wanted the blinds specifically for wind protection and made that clear when we got the quote, we were very disappointed to find that, in reality, the blinds as installed could not even handle a modest gust of summer wind. It is clear now that these small plastic clips are weak and flimsy and that two per blind are not strong enough to secure them. We had to ask the retailer to find out how many clips were recommended by Luxaflex based on the size of our blinds. In the absence of availability of a stronger clip (we asked about this), we now know that we should have been provided with quite a few more clips for all the blinds to secure them when they are down. However, this important aspect of the system was not mentioned prior to placing the order, nor does it appear in Luxaflex’s promotional material. We were also very unhappy that when we first brought the issue to the attention of Katandra we got a reply suggesting that the Evo blinds were, in fact, unsuitable for our windy location when this was the opposite of what we were told by the same consultant at the time of obtaining the quote, prior to placing the order. This also didn’t match the Luxaflex information we had read online and really undermined our confidence. Though Katandra has since assured us that the blinds are “perfect for where they are”, and undertaken to obtain replacement and additional clips and tie-downs (at our cost), we are still waiting for these more than a month after first bringing the problem to their attention. Several recent aftercare emails have gone unanswered and we have had to be very proactive to try to get the fault in the blinds remedied. In the meantime, we are scared to even roll down our new $20,000+ Luxaflex blinds.

In short, when Luxaflex promotes their products as superior quality, all the parts need to live up to this claim. We feel that there is misleading and incomplete information in the Luxaflex advertising, and that the retailer should know their product well enough to recommend in the first place what is needed to secure the Evo cable guided blinds for their size and position so that they live up to Luxaflex’s own advertising claims. The Luxaflex company and its retailers need to provide complete, accurate advice and information so customers can make a well-informed decision and won’t find themselves regretting the purchase of a high-end, expensive product like Luxaflex.

Thevpirouette blinds I ordered for my bay window are tremendous and do exactly what I hoped they’d do. Everyone who has seen them are very impressed with them. I like the diffused light when the blinds are down but the blades are open, it’s very restful and soft

Great service by the whole team involved at Katandra Interiors, from Renae who scoped the work initially to the guys who fitted the blinds and outdoor pergola. The team achieved a quality workable solution to meet our needs. The new cantilevered roof/pergola is incredible and really finished off our backyard. The guys hit a few snags when they were fitting it, but superbly overcame them. From start to finish this was a professional service that we highly recommend.
