Marcus confirmed he accepted Cyclescheme (as advertised), then didn't reply when I asked how to reserve a bike while my certificate was being processed. A follow-up email was also ignored.

A week later I tried WhatsApp instead and got an immediate reply. He said bikes could "sometimes" be reserved, but first needed to know how I intended to pay. When I mentioned Cyclescheme, communication stopped again. A follow-up WhatsApp message was also ignored.

Cyclescheme takes a commission, so I understand why a dealer might prefer direct-paying customers when business is good. However, across two separate attempts to purchase a bike, communication stopped once Cyclescheme was mentioned.

Update: The owner contacted me after this review, apologised for the poor communication, and offered a resolution. Ultimately I decided to buy a new bike directly from Brompton, but I appreciate that he tried to make it right.

I contacted 3 different online platforms to sell my Brompton bike and Marcus bikes shone out. They responded quickly and politely, offered by far the best price, and organised the collection efficiently. Top marks for Marcus!

Selling the bike was easy. Clear instructions and quick response to my advert was excellent. A fair valuation was offered and agreed upon, followed by quick payment. They then made the arrangements for collection quickly, this occurred seamlessly.

We sold a bike to Marcus' Bikes recently and found it to be a very straightforward process, with good communication throughout. The bike was sent via courier (all arranged for us) and we did not even need to parcel it up. When it was received, we were contacted and then sent payment via bank transfer. This is a quick, efficient and easy way to sell a bike.

The experience selling my Brompton to Marcus was incredibly smooth. I reached out for a quote one evening. First class, efficient service dealt with Marcus himself. He organised the collection of two Brompton bikes from Lancashire and we received the payment the following day. Couldn’t have been better.

I've taken my bike here for services (and a replacement wheel when one was stolen just before Christmas) and every time they are excellent. The bike rides like a dream after a service, compared to others that I've used in the past when oftentimes it didn't seem as though much had been done at all. They always take the time to talk through what they recommend doing before doing anything as well. Really recommend.

Looking for a reputable place to sell my Brompton, I wasn't sure about this place but reached out. I was reassured by the prompt and efficient messages from Marcus as well as a competitive offer.

I recently bought a second hand Brompton from Marcus and I couldn't be more pleased. I chatted beforehand and was able to pay a deposit to reserve the bike so I could come to the shop for a test ride. I've never had a Brompton before and Marcus was really friendly and knowledgeable, and talked me through the features and spec of the bike, how to fold/unfold etc. The bike was in great condition, and I was able to cycle away there and then. 10/10 would recommend, couldn't be happier with my purchase!
