My 8month old and I have really enjoyed these classes. The lessons are fun with lots of variety (instruments, singing, dancing) and just long enough to keep my baby’s short attention span!

Not a nice experience
I attended a 3 week trial and thank goodness I wasn’t signed up for the term.
The first session was good although the teacher seemed quite abrupt.
Second and third session were repetitive and the teacher was more like a drill sergeant than a children’s music class leader.
I was talking to a lady next to me quietly and was told to shoosh whilst getting clicked at.
Postpartum life is tough and attending mini maestros was a way for my baby to learn and have fun and for me to connect with other Mums but I felt I wasn’t able to say a word without being told off. Not a nice experience.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Children need repetition to learn and feel confident and safe in different situations. Repetition also builds neural pathways. Our classes deliberately include repetition from week to week so that children know what to expect when they come to class and can rely on some familiarity each week. Children love doing the same things over and over again. As you know, a common response from children after a fun activity has ended is, “Again!” or “More!”. At Mini Maestros we believe in every child’s potential and want to nurture the best learning outcomes for them. That necessarily involves repetition and a classroom environment.
Educator style can be a matter of personal preference. All our teachers are highly trained, and each will bring their own style to the classroom. Different styles suit different people; each of our teachers having their own following and so we would suggest you contact us to experience another teacher. Program was ok
Program was ok. Classroom teacher was engaging but the content and songs are not. The music is not catchie and walking in a circle stomping foot to music is pretty basic. There are more engaging infant-kids programs available.

We are pleased to hear you find your class teacher engaging. The activities in our classes are designed to suit children’s developmental stages. In the babies classes that you are enrolled in, the focus is on giving 5-15 month old babies a range of musical experiences to develop their listening, language and gross motor skills, and to provide social interaction.
A key foundation for development of children’s language and motor skills is steady beat. This is reinforced in every activity we do, most particularly in our babies classes. Each babies’ lesson comprises lap plays, experimenting with percussion instruments, action songs, circle dances, parachute activities and peekaboos, and aims to expose the children to a range of styles of music.
When we walk (or stomp) to the beat in dances while carrying the babies we are giving them a physical experience of the beat. Yes, it is very simple for adults, but that’s because our focus is on the developmental benefits for the babies. The circle dances also allow for social interaction, with babies given time and space to observe others in the circle and learn from the other adults’ facial expressions and other babies’ movements (e.g. waving, clapping).
Our program is age-specific and as children progress to the older age groups, the program becomes more complex in line with their stages of development.

We only attended two sessions
We only attended two sessions.
The interaction with other children was worthwhile.
Otherwise found it more geared to a younger baby than my 17month old granddaughter who has had lots of exposure to various songs.
I thought it would have more hands on instrument exposure rather than the carefully selected use of one/two instruments per session. Preferred the teacher on the 6th December session to the teacher on the 13th Dec.

Thank you for your review! We're delighted that your granddaughter had a meaningful experience in our Mini Maestros classes. Our classes provide babies and young children the opportunity to learn and grow socially. We use songs and rhymes to help develop children's speech, listening, and language skills in a social environment. Our classes are age-specific to cater for children’s developmental stages. We offer 5-24 months classes to give people more options to find a lesson time that works around their child’s sleep patterns. The 5- 24 months classes do have a wider spread of ages, but we ensure the lessons comprise of activities in which babies, toddlers and parents can participate at their own level.
While all our teachers follow the same program, they each bring their own teaching style to the lessons. We understand that sometimes you may prefer one teacher’s style over another. The most important thing is how well your child is engaging in the class and what learning outcomes they are taking away with them.

Online learning issues
My toddler doesn't do well with online learning. When we signed up the sessions were face to face but due to the current restrictions they had to change to virtual classes. We therefore couldn't attend any of the zoom sessions. Haven't enquired about a refund. I am planning to do so. We should've been given an option of using the credit for face to face classes later on. Felt like a bit of waste of money.

It is so frustrating for parents of very young children that the current difficult circumstances mean that they are missing out on learning in the normal classroom environment. We very much recognise that. We also believe that nevertheless we need to do the best we can for our students in terms of continuing their learning and development. That’s why our Online Course has been the back-up plan from the beginning of this year. Interruptions to in-person classes due to COVID-19 were quite foreseeable this year and that is why we were upfront about it in our communications and enrolment conditions; upon enrolment we said that if a normal class had to be cancelled for COVID reasons then the relevant online Class form our Online Course would take its place. Our Online Course follows the structure of our in-person classes and was created specifically for parents/carers to do with their child at home. The parent/carer do the online learning together, just like in an in-person class. Just like in an in-person class, the teacher in our Online Class directs the adults and children how to join in with the dances, play instruments, move in action songs and watch puppet/ prop activities and be active participants in the lessons. The online classes encourage movement and interaction between adult and child. They are designed to provide further enrichment in combination with weekly in-person classes and to continue the term’s learning during a lockdown period. Recognising however that the Online Course does not provide the important social element, we are also offering our bonus Zoom sessions, designed to be the next best thing to in-person classes in the circumstances. The feedback we have received is that the Zoom classes are providing great benefit to many. They do require commitment on the part of the carer (just as in our in-person classes) to undertake the activities with their child, but the reward is consistency and familiarity for their child. We are disappointed that online learning has not worked for you. We would like to offer you a 1 on 1 session with our Head of Teaching so that she can explore with you and your child whether you might be able to have a better experience. Our preference of course is for in-person teaching, but we recognise so that children do not miss out, we must do the best we can online and would like to reach out and help you with that. Please get in touch if you would like to take up this offer. 🐝💕🎶 Mini Maestros
