Lost Parcels Galore!

An advert came up for this company on my Facebook Ads when the Royal Mail strikes where on and I thought I would give them a trial run. I wish I hadn't. I used them for a 2 week period and sent 56 parcels, 5 were lost in transit that's almost a 10%!! of parcels sent did not get delivered. My biggest bug bare with this is that they have in their terms and conditions that claim has to be made within 7 days of the last tracking update of the Customer Goods from Evri. This is not standard practise with any courier I have used previously, I believe if I use Evri directly I have 28 days. Quite honestly with such a poor delivery rate and high delivery delays .I'd guesstimate that out of the 56 parcels I sent 50% had delivery delays, some taking 2-3 weeks to arrive, instead of 2-3 days. I simply do not have time to go through all my parcels and contacting them within the 3 to 7 window of last Evri updates. This is just not conducive of a efficient, hassle free delivery service. I have been told I am not even entitled to your money back for the postage I paid for these lost parcels. I am pretty sure this is a breach of my consumer rights under The Consumer Rights Act 2015 as I have not received a service I have paid for, this is irrelevant of what their terms and conditions say.

Hi Gemma, I'm really sorry you had such a bad experience with Evri.

We are only the comparison company so can only apologise on their behalf. I'm sure this has affected your business and we hate seeing that.

We have these rules in place because we have a tight window of claiming with Evri, so we have no option but to push these tight windows back onto you.

We hope your use of the services in the future will yield a more reliable service.

All the best,

Heavily reliant on this Mule platform

We've been using the Mule App for our Online Distribution Business since the end of 2021. We ship baby related products to new mothers across the globe (from Cornwall, UK) and had found quite a variation in our experience with other international shipment providers until we switched to Mule.

Mule offered the promise of a lot of things - easy Shopify Integration with our selling platform, the ability to avail of competitive international shipping charges by merging shipments together (Mule Bags) as well as the ability to expedite shipments for faster delivery times through prominent courier providers.

Shipping overseas from the UK had created a significant burden upon our international offering since Brexit. Something we were starting to worry about as our international customers had been complaining about delays and lack of visibility for their orders.

The Mule platform has brought a lot of clarity to all of the above for our growing business. We have consistent Shopify integration for all our shipment items, the ability to store HS codes for products, clear shipment price points (which we offer up to our client base) when it comes to speed versus cost of delivery. Most of all, it has removed a lot of the headaches around the speed of our workflow and that's golden in the business we run.

Has it all been plain sailing? Mostly...but what I've valued a lot in the earlier days of integration was the online support. It has always been a fluid and painless interaction. The first line support teams have been able to help with a handful of minor queries - always polite and aware of how to resolve many of my issues. On occasion, I've been handed directly to their competent and knowledgeable Development Team when I've observed repeat errors - again knowledgeable, grateful for any observed insights I've had to refining their platform. All queries with Mule to date have been ticketed efficiently and followed up by e-mail to ensure adequate closure......you'll not see that with Hermes/EVRi!

I've scanned down through a handful of the reviews before I've thrown my two cents worth in, here. If only we could engage with impeccable and perfect platforms in this constantly evolving world of ours! I can honestly say that I've never had a negative experience with anyone at Mule I've engaged with thus far.

Has the platform performed flawlessly? I've yet to deal with one that does! We have UPS and Royal Mail integration for our domestic shipments and they're far from perfect. There are occasional irksome interface issues, but there's a reassuring drive at Mule I've observed that keeps refining the platform. I've been able to make suggestions directly to Developers that HAVE been gathered for future releases - and I've seen them trickling through over the past few quarters and they've made my workflow more efficient.

Our international orders have been growing steadily the past quarter so we've a lot more throughput across the Mule Platform. The odd parcel gets delayed here and there, occasionally they are lost - these issues reside with the individual international courier companies and not the folks at MULE. Refunds have been issued when appropriate and that's more than I can say for many of the companies I've dealt with to date.

There you go folks! Put that in your pipe and smoke it! I have been recommending this platform to others in my business community....something I don't do unless I've had positive first hand experience of a platform.

Bernie Murphy - DIRECTOR (Libra Baby, Cornwall, UK)

PS - A special thanks to Idries for all his help and support in the earlier days of integration. Epic service dear Sir.

Very disappointed, beware glitchy

**reply**

I made payment for all shipments, their app inputted all my dimensions from Shopify! They can’t decide a year later that my sizes were wrong just because their app is glitchy & take £800 from my bank card without my consent! I did not give them permission to debit this or permission to store my details. I have been to police & reported this & also my bank ! And furthermore I have over 15 failed deliveries from them - most couriers infact ALL couriers refund for a failed service - mule tho don’t & even have the audacity to charge you to return the item (an item that should be returned to SENDER not Mules offices)

Beware & be very wary of this app much better options out there , much more reliable & trustworthy shipping services

Very disappointed. Consistent undelivered parcels , which incur so called “return fees” which are often more than the cost of the actual product!

A totally poor service with returns - countless parcels undelivered, which most couriers would refund cost of postage for, but not mule! They keep the money for a failed service, then get couriers to send returns back to them & then charge you “return” fees which don’t even match up to Hermes return costs! I was charged £8 to get a £4 face mask returned !! I find it totally inconsistent, unreliable and untrustworthy.

Then to top it off , they store your card details which they use without your consent. They charged my card today , illegally for over £800, claiming we owe for packages that were not the imputed sizes! It’s worrying that they have the power to simply decide this & take the money without even consultation with us! They didn’t discuss this issue once , didn’t give me chance to dispute or resolve - instead went ahead took the money & then email me after the event! I have since reported this to the police as fraudulent & also have contacted my bank to dispute the money they took without my consent !

Make sure you don’t ever leave card details on the app, as they will simply take what they want when they want!

According to our records you have never used our Shopify integration to purchase a label and our Shopify integration does not import weight & dimensions unless you have our calculated rates feature enabled which was released very recently and we can see you did not implement. Even if you had implemented this feature, you would still be responsible for inputting the correct weight and dimensions on Shopify.

When you signed up to use our service you did give us permission to store your card details and reclaim costs from you automatically in the case of extra fees levied by the courier due to incorrectly providing dimensions and weights.

To clarify we charged you £644.53 in excess charges. We decided to void £216.73 of this as a goodwill gesture for under declared parcels last year. We also gave you a warning on the 25th of April.

We always refund failed delivery if the fault lies with the courier. As mentioned below you have consistently under declared the weight and dimensions of your parcels which has in many cases led the courier being unable to deliver the parcel as the service selected would have been a letter service when in fact you were sending large parcels. We will not refund shipping charges in this case, and every courier charges return fees.

**orginal reply**

Hey,

Thank you for the review. We take any negative feedback very seriously and so will address all of your concerns.

Having looked at your account, there have been frequent inaccurate declarations of weights and dimensions for the last 9 months. For example, for many parcels weighing above 2kg to the US, you entered the weight as 0.1kg and the dimensions as 1x1x1cm. This has allowed you to get access to the cheapest possible shipping rates whilst the courier has been charging us for the actual weight and dimensions of your parcels.

Since September, this amounts to £861.26 in excess charges. We decided to void £216.73 of this as a goodwill gesture, resulting in a £644.53 charge to your card last week.

The declaration of inaccurate information at this scale is fraudulent activity and, as set out in our terms and conditions, we are entitled to pass this cost on to you. We also warned you about this a month (25th April) before the charges were made.

When parcels are declared as 1x1x1cm, the system registers this as a letter. When the parcel arrives at its destination and cannot be posted through the letterbox, delays and returns issues arise. Hence, you experienced a significant number of returned parcels.

In the case of a customer making an error with their booking causing a return (such as inaccurate weight/dimension information), we are billed extra by the courier and we pass these costs on to the customer.

Whilst we always want to help customers save money on shipping, we cannot subsidise the cost of shipping - we must pass on some charges that we incur otherwise we cannot operate as a business.

However, we hate seeing unhappy customers so we removed £216.73 off your account, wishing this would help relieve some of your frustration.

Hopefully, this reply helps you understand our side of the argument and why our actions were necessary.

The team at Mule is wishing you all the best with your future endeavors.

Yours sincerely,
Luke & Idries, (co-founders)

Cheap but so many problems

Great app but problems when there is a claim or return. I recently sent two packages to Myanmar I have sent many packages around the world including Indonesia and the Philippines. But this company by far is one of the cheapest and most reliable when things go right but when there is a problem they become useless and not helpful and lie to you and you have to prove that they lied to you like for example they told me that my package never left the country and I sent them screenshots of proof that my package did leave the country and then I even got an apology another package went to Myanmar and they refused to investigate it because on their tracking system it said it was still awaiting delivery their excuse was it was my own fault because I should’ve contacted them within seven days of the package tracking missing. I’m sorry but when a package is in transit with a landmark global it always takes over seven days it’s just hassle contacting you every time Hermes drops off the package at Heathrow and then having to wait around 14 days for the package to transit but on day 7 I have to contact you every time not even on Parcel2Go is this bad at least with Parcel2Go you have up to 28 days from the last scan

Hi Jack,

Thank you for leaving this feedback.

We have discussed your feedback internally and agreed that for landmark/mule bag parcels, the 7 day window is too short and we are going to extend it. Thank you for raising this with us!

Secondly, the issue around your parcel not leaving the country was simply our team relaying what they saw on the tracking. The courier's tracking was delayed whilst your air tag provided a live location. This created a discrepancy between what our team was seeing and what you were seeing. Hence why the team said the package had never left the country. I apologise on behalf of the courier for their delayed tracking.

Again, thanks for the feedback, we use it to learn and get better at what we do.

Kind Regards,
Luke

Excellent customer service

Had to return an item to eBay, and used Mule to book the courier. Unfortunately it got damaged in transit, DHL was the courier, and after first trying with DHL I was directed to get a refund with Mule, as they arranged it. After some initial misunderstandings I did not think I would get a refund due to the amount of evidence required to validate my claim, but I take my hat off to Mule, who were not only professional but also courteous throughout the process, and refunded me, once I provided with the appropriate information to prove I wasn’t being fraudulent. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again, and it’s a breath of fresh air to know that there are still some companies that don’t hide behind red tape when presented with a genuine claim. My thanks to Fiona.

Don’t use this middleman service, you aren’t protected

I’ve used Mule for 6+ months now, and thankful I was one of the lucky ones that hasn’t had any issues with my parcel.

However, last week my parcel arrived to a customer damaged, which is where I learnt to stop using Mule.

After talking to customer services, I was advised to open a claim. When talking to CS, I was asked to upload lots of images of the product before it was shipped… not just one image, they required 8.

Fortunately I had these images, but that didn’t matter, as the Mule compensation policy only covers total losses.

Their customer service skills are lacking. I decided to use these instead of Parcel2go and other competitors. However, I’ve now found Packlink to be the best services, as their T&Cs aren’t built to trick you.

If you’re an existing customer I’d also be aware of Mule compensation policy, they’ve reduced £250 policy to £50, without any email warning.

Respuesta de Mule

Hi Tom,

We’re so sorry to hear you’ve not been satisfied with your recent experience with Mule.

Regarding your specific issue with the item you wanted to raise a damage claim for, our claims team asked for the following from you:
– at least two photos of the damage
– estimated value of the damage
– at least two photos of the item before the damage
– evidence of the sale
– evidence of the parcel being sent to the specified address e.g. a screenshot of eBay sale confirmation with the customer's address

This is so they can present all of this information to the couriers and to determine if there is in fact sufficient evidence to raise a claim.

As mentioned in our correspondence with you, the couriers are the ones who set the terms and conditions of which items are prohibited and/or only covered for either loss or damage.

The item you sent was a collectible toy.
The images of the damage you sent were of bends to the cardboard packaging of the toy. We advised that unfortunately collectibles and packaging is only covered for loss rather than damage so we weren’t able to raise a claim in this instance. This is because thin cardboard packaging is easily dented during transit.

We also said to you that if there was any damage to the toy itself we would happily raise a damage claim but if it was just to the cardboard packaging, unfortunately it would not be covered.

We do ask before checkout that all customers check the Prohibited items list before sending their items to make sure they understand what is and isn’t covered.

Regarding the updated insurance policy, we apologise that you did not receive an email warning however we did sent 2 separate notifications to all users through the app to make them aware of the changes.

We’ve recently had a big surge in parcel volumes and with the peak parcel period now underway, our Couriers have raised their prices. In order to keep our prices low we have had to reduce our free insurance offering.

We’re sorry to disappoint on this front but we are committed to keeping our prices as competitive as possible for all our customers.

If you would like to discuss any of this further, feel free to reach out to contact@mule.app and we’d be happy to give you a call to discuss any other issues or feedback you have for us.

All the best, Mule

I’ve sent an item with mule proper packaged and padded, when it got delivered to the destination the item got damaged. I’ve tried to speak to customer service and now they just got back to me saying that they won’t refund any of the item. So why does the app ask you and the value of the item and it mention they will cover a specific amount?
Not trustworthy delivery intermediary and very unprofessional way of resolving the issue.

Hi Andre,

I understand you're not happy with the result of your communication regarding your damaged parcel that was delivered by Hermes.

Mule is a booking platform offering discounted shipping rates, but we are not a delivery company and none of the deliveries are carried out by Mule, but instead by the courier that each customer has chosen.

Unfortunately, as my colleague stated in their email to you, as per the Terms & Conditions that you agreed to during checkout, speakers are only covered for loss, not damage under the free insurance policy.

We ask for the value of the item for insurance purposes but every customer is asked to tick a box during the checkout stage agreeing to the terms and conditions, which include a list of items that are either prohibited from being sent all together, or which are not covered for either loss or damage. Unfortunately your item comes under the list that is only covered in instances of the parcel being lost.

It is clearly stated that any items sent on the prohibited list are sent at the customer's own risk.

We are sorry to disappoint you on this occasion but as we are unable to raise a claim for this with the couriers, our hands are tied.

As a goodwill gesture however we have offered to refund your shipping costs.

We do hope you reconsider this review as Mule have fulfilled all our duties and responded to you in a professional and timely manner, despite your chosen courier letting you down on this occasion.

Cost effective & value for money parcel…

Cost effective & value for money parcel shipping service, with insurance upto £250 as standard.

Good range of couriers, but would say best UK parcels or for smaller packages to Europe, Canada and the USA. The app is great, although would be nice to have some integration with online stores for importing recipient details and saving time inputting data.

The part that is most outstanding for me as a small business is the customer service which is absolutely outstanding! They have online chat and email, no phoneline but this is not a problem.

On the chat you actually get to speak to someone! They are very proactive and professional dealing with your queries. Their response with emails is exactly as they promise. If they say they’ll get back then they usually do. This isn’t a isolated thing, the whole team seem to work with the same kind of ethics. If I email I get a very quick response and the chat is almost instant on most occasions. Great, no fantastic customer service, with parcel shipping at a very attractive price!

Thank you team Mule!!
