I had a provincial New Brunswick government cheque sent to me.
It was for 500$. I tried to cash it and they said I would have to wait as they have to hold the funds for 5 working days.
I told the representative I needed it for my dental appointment. She spoke to some sort of person in charge and said she can only give me 100$ and the rest next week. Well this is Wednesday and I would have to wait until next Wednesday to get the rest.
What a joke.
I will be taking my banking somewhere else.

National Bank should not be one of the big six. They continue to close branches in the GTA and all over Ontario which forced me to close my account as I had no close branches. Calling their customer service phone lines would result in 25-45 minute wait times minimum. I have never had this with any other bank or credit union in Canada.
Move your mortgage
Want to thank Scott Stover at the National Bank in London for helping us with our mortgage. Everything went super smooth / even the paperwork/signing came to our house. We did not need to leave the house for any appointments - all done online. He was very knowledgeable and professional.
Not only was I happy with the service, I received a better interest rate than what I was offered from my bank of 25 years. Trust me - move banks and ask for Scott - you won't regret it.
True Assets to NBC - Eglinton, Mississauga Branch!
This review relates to 2 excellent managers: (1) Ms. Judith Rodrigues, Senior Banking Advisor; and (2) Ms. Yashmini Roshundatta, Customer Service Manager - both located at a National Bank Branch at 295 Eglinton Ave., East. Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
After a gruelling experience with the National Mortgage Dep't. of NBC, these wonderful ladies, assisted us quite a few times until we are able to set an appointment with Judy, the Senior Bank Advisor of the Branch. For Yashimini: (1) When we paid a visit to the bank with hopes to talk to a mortgage advisor, she coached us on what we have to do; (2) Thru our relentless messages to the Mortgage Group; we were directed back to this branch for an appointment - we reached out to her and she promptly responded and assisted us to book an immediate appointment with a Senior Banking Advisor. Hats off to Yashmini!
Judith Rodrigues: During our appointment with Judy, we had a very pleasant experience, (1) she coached us on the process, sat with us for almost 3 hours (Thank you so much!!!); (2) Reviewed our paperwork and business; (3) facilitated the opening of a bank account, application for an LOC to assist us with our property; and explained to us the whole process to be approved. An over the top customer service experience! The Mortgage Department of National Bank don't seem to realize that it lessens business for the company to be rude to customers, we sounded like we were begging and we do not deserve that treatment!! To make up for the unpleasant experience - Thank you so much Judy and Yashmini! Thank you for being the "people person" and caring professionals that you both are!

After going to H&R block I was locked…
After going to H&R block I was locked out of my banking app. I called to see why the guy said I this check is no good continuing to accuse me of fraud. Told me you can't get a instant refund from H&R Block then decided to call H&R Block. Oh the check is good but I'm still blocking your money because that's too much for someone like you. They are trying to hold it for almost 15 business days. I've spent about 4 hours on the phone to get it straightened out still haven't. They blocked a e-transfer from a casino I regularly play at had an snowboard trip planned that they ruined.

Don't get a mortgage with them
Ive had a B class mortgage with them for years. I renewed over the phone less than a month ago, decided to review the mortgage doc's that were mailed to me. On phone we agreed to a rate and term.
Once reading cost of borrowing, I see $1500 (periodic admin fees). Lol, WHAT? No, this wasn't mentioned and I didn't agree to it!
So I phoned and spoke to the same agent. Very nice lady, however she's only able to do what she's told.
I don't blame her at all, but NO respect for National Bank. Now I know, and definitely will replace their mortgage before the next renewal.
AVOID using all services from national bank
I got into an unforseen situation with my master card, National Bank would not negociate a better payment, i propose $1000 per month they refused i went through credit counseling and National bank accepted $350 per month ????????. They only did this to destroy my credit score of 846. National bank is an extremely revengeful bank, they need to be shut down for good.
Rude Customer Support at NATIONAL BANK OF CANADA
I have moved back to New Brunswick from Vancouver, British Columbia. Now I've always had my bank with PC Financial and Neo Financial and they are great banks as they don't charge a monthly fee no matter how much transactions or the amount of money in bank. I am in End Stage Renal failure and kidney function is below 20% and hemodialysis is going to be a common thing now til I find a donor. I have been very sick and have almost died 4 times from cysts rupturing with infection in them and now I can't work like I use to. So being home I receive support in a form of a cheques and given there's no ATM machines for Neo and PC I decided to go with NBC. So I could cash my cheques. I had cashed one cheque when I first opened account and my family member went to cash another as I have bills like a phone to pay so I gave them my phone to deposit one. When they brought me my phone, mail and other cheques I clearly seen that he had deposited the wrong one and immediately called the back. I explained it to them and it was all good and said it's good I called immediately. So after getting off the phone I went to deposit the right check before the other gets processed and now I'm getting errors can't identify. So I tried everything and thought maybe my family member entered password wrong or something along those lines as when I spoke to the NBC agent he cleared off that it was all good. So when I called back I was sent to security cause I couldn't sign in. After 46 minutess of waiting I gave the agent all my info and he seemed very rude. I explained how I was in hospital, almost died and that I will more and likelyvbe here for a bit. He then says you committed fraud and your account is closed and locked up and would need to come in. I was like I'm in the hospital almost died from going septic from a cyst rupture and more and likely be here for at least another 7-8 weeks. He just didn't want to hear it. When I got off the phone with the first agent he was so polite and said that the other check will more and likely bounce and give a reason and he would leave a note explaining the mistake. So I was like perfect. The security agent or banking agent the second time was completely rude, didn't ask if there was anything else he could help me with and hung up before I could ask anything else. I now need to wait 7-8 weeks to go to the bank to fix this mistake that clearly the rude rep didn't want to repair. Never in my lifetime has a bank ever been as rude and inconsiderate in my life. I will call again tomorrow and see if there is a more polite agent. Very Rude, Inconsiderate People like that should not be working on the phones.

There is zero sence as a customer, to choose this one over any other bank. Their interests are atrocious and their service slow and unreliable. Couldn't hold a converstation over phone for more then one minute before them hanging on me!

If I could give these guys a negative star I honestly would give -5 stars worse bank to deal with very incompetent at every level cards randomly stops working and good luck getting help at any of their branches or even talking to a customer service on the phone. They will keep you on hold for hours wasting all your precious free time and every single person you speak to on the phone either sounds like they just woke up from bed or is going to bed. This bank sucks at all levels. To anyone reading this bank somewhere else.

I was migrated from CWB to this unbelievable unprofessional bank
I am extremely disappointed with the process of closing my accounts at National Bank of Canada. First, I submitted a request via email after logging into my online account. I received a response 7 days later saying I needed to call customer service. After waiting 45 minutes on the phone, I was told I must visit a physical branch in person—over 150 kilometers away. This entire ordeal has been absurdly inconvenient and, frankly, unacceptable. I expected a straightforward process, but instead, I was met with constant redirections and a huge waste of time. I hope others can make a more informed decision based on my experience. And by the way they charged me $127.00 to transfer my TFSA account to a different bank!

If I could give a zero I would. They never answer the phone. You are on hold forever and the advisor that I have been stuck with refuses to answer me. They messed up my transfer for my RRSP’s and now they seem to be doing the same with my RESP account. Don’t use them.
