Company is a total scam
Company is a total scam. I worked for DMV and we would get so many complaints. Their company comes up first once you engine search DMV renewal. I almost fell for it. Totally looks legit but notice their web page does not end with gov…. That’s how you know it’s not the actual DMV. Please don’t fall for this scam and pay extra money for a company who is totally ripping you off for unnecessary fees !

EVERYTHING ... Your phone rep was not that informative ... even short at times! I was not aware I was missing a form that was never mentioned ... so I filled that out and sent it to you ... after that then was told I had to have it smogged? Think you folks would have told me that was missing with the missing form?? Was not sure as to why I had to have it smogged either ... was smogged in May, when tags were renewed? Did not ask any more questions because I did not want to deal with ANY of you! Not to mention it was EXPENSIVE!!!

This is a warning ⚠️ be very vary careful with this site. They don't refund if you find out that they are not the real DMV site and you already paid. They are a 3rd party that will charge you huge fees with no warning. When the real DMV is free. And they will threaten to take you to court. So don't get trapped in these tactics. This is a nother form of Bait and switch.

The company is a scam
The company is a scam. They mislead and redirect people who search for DMV.CA.GOV to their similar looking website and charge them extra for a completely unnecessary "service charge". Upon requesting a cancellation minutes after, they make it impossible to get refunded for just the service charge and threaten you, the client with litigation if you decide to file a chargeback with your credit card provider.

Beware of NeedTags outrageous fees
Beware of NeedTags outrageous fees.
The NeedTags front webpage is made and designed to impersonate as is the official DMV site so the users get through the process without paying too much attention to the excessive processing fees which are almost 40% extra cost of the registration. They charged $188 dlls of processing fees for the registration of two cars.
Also please note the orders cannot be canceled and customers service personnel are rude and entitle, they hang up the phone or transfer you to a null extension.
If the order is made through a cell phone the processing fees are even less noticeable.
This site is designed to fraud their customers with horrific fees based on the fact that all transactions are final.
What is the point to have a middleman that charges $188 dlls for two car registrations when you can go directly to the DMV and do it there…
This type of business should not a be legal, they are basically a scam to customers by impersonating as the official DMV web site.
NeedTags office is non existent on Google maps so you won’t be able to submit a review.
The official address is an old contract’s warehouse.

I used this service (by mistake) to transfer a title, thinking I was on the DMV site. I paid the required amount the system calculated which was $149. A week later, I noticed a new charge attempt (card locked) for “$30 DMV fee”. It was then I noticed I’d used this “Need Tags” and not DMV.
I immediately called to inquire about the $30 charge attempt as I have paid what I believed to be the total due of $149. A lady answered and her rude response to my question was, “What don’t you understand, it’s written when you checked out.” Needless to say, I was offended & became suspicious. I asked to be forgiven for missing the information, however, I still Need to know, “What’s the extra charge attempt for?” She goes on to explain that the $149 I had paid was for their “expedited” service and the $30 charge is the DMV fee. Bursting out laughing has never been more appropriate! So I paid it, Had no choice. Wasn’t gonna deal with a rude company like this & get caught up in a refund battle. I needed my new title. It arrived reasonably timely.
The following week, I transferred a separate title but only this time I used the actual DMV.CA.GOV site and the virtual process was smooth, they communicated by email every status change, and the best part is, I only paid a $30 DMV fee and it arrived in the same timeframe as Needtags, maybe sooner, for $150 less! What a waste of my money! And what a dumb mistake I made. I still don’t know why they exist! Maybe for the rich? 🤷🏻♀️

Title transfers can be tedious, and it's best to have a trusted DMV registration service provider on your side. You may also process your Title Transfer with the DMV, but allow 30 days from the day the DMV receives your documents to process your title transfer.
