4000 czk for a cheap wi-fi router

it's not the worst, but the reviews are true, I wish I had read them BEFORE signing a contract with them and buying a router for 4000 czk which was of course not explained to me when signing the contract............ they installed the interned through a phone cable in my flat, and when I later started complaining about the regular outages, they said this technology is outdated and no better options are available for my house, then why did you sell that Zyxel router to me (which was introduced by the representative as a rental not purchase "you'll pay us 69 czk extra for the router monthly") instead of honestly warning me there's no real internet cable in my house ... this is awful.

DO NOT PURCHASE O2 CZ!!!!

It looks all impressive that you can access data throughout Europe, but O2 Cz are exceptionally unhelpful. Unreliable. They charge you for 7gb and give you nothing, only to keep charging you 19kc for every 300mb. Borderline scam!

As a customer

As a customer, i have bad experience, because it's unable to contact them, when you need to solve some problems. And when they call you back, you usually have to wait, and when they connect you to operator, they just try to sell something, or make the contract more expensive, in place of helping you to solve problem. And there is also problem to finish contract, and you need to pay one month + also to they have hidden commissions, so I usually have to pay more, then it was in contract.

Really bad

I almost forgot this, but this firm is .... ehm. When was a student and a customer of o2, I was sometimes charged for the services which I wasn't using (and wasn't even able to use with my old cellphone).

The worst part was however that talking with them is a pure agony, they just don't give damn about it and even if you report it next month you get the same nonsense in your invoice again.

Generally, it is very sad that having a contract with an arbitrary operator is always risky because it really seems that they have a right come up with services you never ordered and you don't have a chance to defend yourself as a single customer against such big corporate.

Later I switched to prepaid tarif as it was safer option. Shame on you O2!!!

Most blatant scam in the world

Contracted to connect my apartments to the internet. They said that I'll have to have a VDSL modem because of the technology, and I'll have to pay additionally monthly for that modem. I agreed because I thought we talked about modem leasing, and I assumed I could return the modem to O2 after contract termination.

But what they didn't say is that the modem is actually *sold* in monthly installments to be my own property! And they never disclosed that the modem is vendor-locked to O2, so I can't use it with any other ISP and apparently can't sell it because who would buy the vendor-locked stuff??? And despite of the fact they talked to me in English when we concluded contract, they gave me documents in Czech which I didn't understand. I only discovered this scam when I decided to terminate the contract after 3 years. Of course now it's too late to get use of my consumer right of abandoning the contract.

Just to clarify: they are more than happy to talk to you in English when you are making the contract, but since you're enslaved they suddenly pretend to speak nothing but Czech.

I saw many discussions on Czech forums where people were wondering how can they return those unwillingly possessed modems. It is apparent that all those Czech people were misled by O2 thinking they could return the modems after a contract termination. If that happened to Czechs what to expect from a poor foreigner like me who can't even speak Czech.

O2 literally commits fraudulence crimes for many years by conducting this scheme even with Czechs and intentionally abusing foreigners' language barrier, and I'm shocked how it can exist for ages. Probably O2 is backed up by supposedly corrupted Czech police, I don't know and don't want to figure it out.

Furthermore, when you decide to stop the contract you'll suddenly get know about some "30 days notice period" which allegedly "is in our Terms" which you never saw and never signed (and which they obviously can change how ever they wish), and they will refuse to terminate the contract earlier. (And this is for the indefinite contract, "bez zavazek".)

Avoid this scam company at all and every cost. I had read negative reviews before contracting, and the only reason why I started to use O2 was because my landlord refused to let another ISPs to install hardware in the building common space. But now I see that I'd be better to move to another landlord than to deal with this sh*tbag O2.

Hodna holka..... Proste bud nevedela, nebo nebylo v jeji kompetenci. Lehce hloupa, argantni a nezkusena. A takove lidi zamestnava O2.cz . Pak se nelze divit, ze i jejich sluzby jsou na desive nechopne urovni.

Don't contract with O2 CZ, scam with the routers

They are scammers. They sell the router at a prize that could be about 3 or 4 times the actual market prize. I'm asked to pay almost 200 EUR for a router that should cost about 50-60 EUR as much.

The salesman does not clearly specify that the router is paid by you and it is your property. When signing the contract, you are obligated to pay during 4 years.

Completely disappointed with this company and the customer service

Terrible Customer service

Terrible Customer service, the people I spoke to in O2 are just out of the world, insane and inhumane.
Almost all the people I have talked to are miserable except one lady on the phone.
Bought 100 mbps Internet package with Modem priced for 4000kc or 69kc per month for 60 months and a shocking deposit of 2000 kc over the phone and they booked a technician for the weekend only once deposit is paid, technician from Siten came over spent 90 mins and said the building has only 50mbps of speed and he left without giving the connection, suggested to go to the O2 store to apply for a bonding or lower the speed to 50mbps. Went to O2 store and Complained on the 100 mbps and they Just said it’s the system which shows the speed and they can’t do anything or guarantee the speed.
Had no other way but to book 50 mbps package and strangely they asked me to pay another deposit of 2000kc to book a technician. I asked them
to transfer the first deposit of 2000kc to the new 50 mbps package and the sales consultant said it’s not possible and I have to pay 2000kc again and the first deposit will be refunded.
They said the next available dates for a technician is after 5 days. I said it’s their fault selling me false speed and they need to priorities my new connection ASAP. I nearly spent 2 hrs at the O2 store for this and they just did not care for the inconvenience caused.
Unfortunately I had to book the technician after 5 days Only.
It was hell of an experience with very bad Customer service. The Modem price is really unacceptable they are just forcing us to buy the modem for 4000kc I definitely don’t recommend O2. They are just taking advantage of the basic needs of people.

Decent connection - terrible service

Decent connection, however the customer service is appalling. Modem/Router costs an extra 3000czk (approx.100GBP), and when we decided to purchase a TP-Link router instead, which worked perfectly, they wouldn't accept a return of the O2 router purchased in the shop. We have decided to ride out the mandatory 3 months on contract and then switch to a company that is a little more helpful. See ya O2!

Their 5G is a borderline scam

I'm talking here specifically about their so-called 5g internet, and I have rated this a 1 star.

Before we discuss anything, please note that 5G at time of writing in the Czech Republic is NOT widely available, and the service 02 call 5G is actually either 4G or 4G+ (or a combination).

The next thing I want to mention is that I currently have a 5 year contact with O2 for their 50Mbps "5G" wireless home internet. I'm currently in year 2. I want to make it super clear that I would have cancelled already if it wasn't for the fact that they throw in an overpriced modem for free and to get out of the contact you need to pay the rest of the period in full and the cost of the equipment.

During these 2 years, the internet has mostly worked, except for one thing, every now and again they seem to throttle the service down to 1/2 speed, around 20Mbps.

This means that every time this happens I need to get into what I call "The O2 theatrical game".

Obviously the service desk staff are basically your average lemon who not only don't have any kind of technical background, but also lack common sense.

This means at least 3 calls to this service desk before an actual technician will get back to you.

And they will send out a technician to play the game. He'll come around and inspect your equipment and then agree with you it's slow and then perhaps replace perfectly fine hardware (at their cost) or you know, at least confirm your speed is slow.

Then you will hear all the justifications "In this area the signal isn't very good, etc".

Finally after about 3-4 weeks up to 2 months you will have the problem resolved.

Until the next time.

So I have a theory on what they do. They sell these packages, and then secretly cap people, those who don't complain remained capped. For example some elderly pensioner is hardly going to notice the difference in speed from 25-50Mbps. So they try save money this way.

Above I mentioned that this so called "5G" can be a combination of 4G and 4G+. And that's true, when you make a request it will default to 4G using the lower bandwidth, however it will automatically switch over to 4G+ when extra bandwidth is required. At least that's how it should work when everything is actually working.

HOWEVER - O2 are sneaky, what I realised is they didn't just cap me this time, they turned off the 4G+ connection mode.

This means I am paying for 50Mbps, and getting maybe 1/2 sometimes even 1/5 of that.

And you think this will be the last time they do it? I would estimate they do this twice a year.

So if you have O2 internet then you really need to check carefully what speed you're getting and call them constantly if you're not happy. Let them send out an internet technician as often as they have to.

Absolute nightmare of a service.

Stay away from O2

I have O2 for less than 1 month and issues keep piling up:
- terrible network connection - it's extremely slow and faulty
- worst customer service ever - I have submitted a request to check my connection 3 times in one month. They cancel the visit of the technician because they claim they reset the network remotely (if there is a need to reset the system 3 times in one there is clearly something wrong).
- dishonest - when signing the contract I was told that there was no fee whatsoever if I would cancel the service after 3-6 months. Now they claim that I should pay for the modem.

I have had UPC for 4 years and I never had single problem. O2 is just a tremendous disappointment.
