Initially

Initially, everything seemed flawless, but then they began their lack of transparency in regards to documentations submitted. I lost trust quickly

Good thing #Echomines has shown itself to be the exact oppsite, honest, transparent, and trustworthy when it comes to gains.

Great service

We have found Oaken to be a very responsive company. Rarely need to wait more than 5 minutes when calling about a transaction. Answer emails within reasonable time. Great rates

I opened an account expecting…

I opened an account expecting transparency, but instead saw unexplained activity with no visibility or notice. I only learned later that a separate profile was created without telling me. The lack of communication, clarity, and accountability is unprofessional and unacceptable. I've had a steady experience with #Stovëx #Global. There haven't been delays, support has been responsive, and the process of receiving my funds has gone smoothly each time.

100% satisfied!

I deal with 5 banks. I have 10 gic’s with Oaken totalling over $450,000 over 5 years. I have never had a single issue and rate them, their online system, their service and rates as the best.

Brutal Customer Service Experience

Brutal Customer Service Experience. It took more than two weeks for them to request additional documentation to open an account with the deadline being the day I received the email. My intent was to move a substantial portion of my registered and non registered monies however Customer Service is very important to me. Based on this poor experience I will go elsewhere. I highly recommend Oaken if you want to experience slow and very poor Customer Service!!

Shame

It is such a pity that Oaken has such terrible customer service. This virtual bank's web site is easy to use and their interest rates are better than most. However if you every need to contact customer service - good luck. I have had three horrible exeriences with their agents. I do not need to go into detail here as I am still in the process with the last issue.
As a vitual bank your only human contact is customer service. You would think they would want to have well trained and courteous people employed. When you call with an issue they should give you a case number to track. If the agent does not have the answer rather than putting you on hold they should call you back.
Please please review this critical aspect of your service to us.

Hopeless, inconsistent & argumentative Oaken Financial customer service

Evening of Nov 18/25, after again a much frustrating 15 minute+ wait & an annoying interrogation style security process, I was talking to this Roshen person at Oaken Financial as I am not getting the promised following up call concerning a GIC that Oaken Financial did not renew as per my updated maturity instruction dated July 2/25 to have it ''auto renew'' as it matured on Nov 13/25. (Please see my post at this site from Nov 17 for more horrible experience when I first called Oaken Financial about such an unacceptable & open violation of an banking invetment agreement). THEY DEMAND CLIENTS TO FULLY OBSERVE & COMPLY WITH THEIR TERMS & CONDITIONS WHILE THEY THEMSELVES DO NOT!

I must say once again that whatever client profile system that Oaken Financial is using is one big confusing & highly unorganizzed, ineffective big mess to not only clients but their own people as well based on my personal experience banking & dealing with Oaken Financial for over a decade.

Here is a long list of whys.

First, Roshen gave me totally incorrect maturity instruction of this GIC.
When I protested & offered more info such as what another OF agent told me yesterday, etc. & long hold he put on me, he finally saw the same ''updated '' maturity instruction to auto renew this GIC as it matured on Nov 13/25.

Then lots of debates & arguments & shoutings to each other over the phone for multiple times when I asked for a case/reference/escalation /whatever number they use for this complaint I filed since Nov 17 for my record. Roshen kept telling me ''there is no such number''. Based on a common sense & actual reality that Numbers is life; life is Numbers in this world of ours, whether or not this is really an Oaken Financial fact or Roshen simply told me another thing that is not true, I wonder a lot. ( this makes me remember an OF agent once lied to me that they had received some funds on my behalf & was already in my OF account, etc. while it was actually not. The complaint process & experience was much frustrating, time-consuming as well as so much negative that I stopped putting money with Oaken Financial for years!!)

When I requested Roshen to send an email reminder to Naveen, he just refused & said this has been escalated, etc. & therefore he ''cannot send another escalation'' & so on. Roshen did not change his attitude even after I corrected him multiple times that not ''another escalation'' but a reminder that I am still waiting for Naveen to call & I have waited 2 full business days already, etc. I asked him to see & he confirmed that another OF agent named Dale did send out an email reminder to Naveen yesterday, Nov 17 as per my reuest. Roshen could not explain why he ''cannot'' do this same reminder as I was requesting him to while another OF agent could!! Such a misleading joke if not a lie when Roshen said to me ''everyone will do the same'', etc.

On top of this, Roshen told me this conversation is recorded, etc. YES, it is recorded but NOT ACCESIBLE TO CLIENTS, EVEN UPON REQUEST!!

Then Roshen told me I will get called in ''4 days''. I again protested & he & I shouted at each other again. I got more frustrated & agitated almost every time I speak with these people at Oaken Financial. I was told ''2-3 days'' on Nov 17 & Oaken Financial still wants nothing but drags on & keeps me waiting day after day AS A RESULT OF A MISTAKE THEY MADE!!!! SUCH SHAMEFUL & IRRESPONSIBLE TRUST BANK!

Further inconsistencies & much discrepencies I experienced when I enquired about another GIC maturing in under a month.

Roshen confirmed my auto renew maturity instruction is in place. This GIC will get renewed for another 2 years from the maturity date & a confirmation will be sent within 10 days after renewal, etc. Dale went through the renewal request & process yesteray, Nov 17, with me ( although I still very much puzzled as I never had experience that OF would renew a GIC in advance, etc. Dale assured me multiple times that I will receive a renewal confirmation in about 10 days, & she also confirmed with me other GIC details such as the amount being renewed, , rate I am getting, the new maturity date, that this Tax Free GIC being renewed is not new investment but a rolling over/renewed as I used up my TFSA contribution room already & absolutely do not wish to get over contribution penalty from CRA.

In summary, Oaken Financial & many of thier employees have again acted being arrogant, inconsistent in almost every way & so much unaccountable even about mistakes they made. To me, Oaken Financial does not even show any true remorse & timely REAL actions to resolve the situation but drags on & on & on........totally disrespecful, indifferent & insensible in their treatment to a frustrating & stressful client of theirs for over a decade!

Oaken Financial Held My Funds Without Notice – Unacceptable!

I opened an account with Oaken Financial expecting a smooth, transparent process. Instead, I was shocked to find $5,000 withdrawn from my Scotia chequing account without any clear account shown on my Oaken dashboard.

After calling support, I was told only after I called, that a new profile was silently created due to “inconsistencies” in my personal data. No prior communication, no alert, and funds were held with no visibility. This is highly unprofessional and unacceptable for a financial institution.

If trust and transparency matter to you, think twice before trusting your savings to Oaken.

We deal with about 5 banks and financial institutions for our investing, and found that Oaken Financial is the best of all of them. Efficient processes, good rates, and very qualified staff!

Oaken Financial couldn't find my TSA GIC account after its maturity date

I have a TSA GIC over $5,000 matured on Jan 22, 2025. I left repeated instructions to have the principal + interest to be deposited into my outside bank account upon maturity (since they had taken upon themselves to add "Auto-Renew" to my account & I couldn't change the instructions online).
After numeral phone calls in the last few days/weeks, I found out today that they didn't follow my instructions, and that my money was not deposited to my bank account!!! When asked on the phone about my money, they claimed that they couldn't find my account! For a company that handles customers' money, this was TOTALLY unacceptable.
I may need to take legal action to get my money back!
They are still trying to find out what happened to my account/money right now...
Please think twice about trusting your money to such a irresponsible company!

They Didn't Want $70,000

I tried to open a new account with a deposit of $70k. Jumped through all of their hoops and never heard back after sending copies of my check. These people aren't just clowns; they are the entire circus. Take your money and time elsewhere.

In purchasing a TFSA GIC, you cannot direct the maturity proceeds to go into your TFSA Savings account. They told me they are working on that functionality, but cannot tell me exactly when that will be. Mickey Mouse "financial institution". They don't realize they are losing business??

More than satisfied

I recently became a client of Oaken and am very happy with the service from JP in Calgary .Hes eager to help ,knowlegeable and has answered all my questions without feeling pressured .
Any investments in the future will be made with Oaken and i am quite satisfied with all that is offered

I have been client of Oaken Financial…

I have been client of Oaken Financial for many years with significant investment in my portfolio.
They have not followed my direction on spousal RSP and as a result of that my wife is going to loose OAS benefit as they cashed one of registered GIC RSP without my knowledge. It took them already 1 month and now they say we can't do anything to correct this.
Going to file complain with Ombudsman for Financial institution. I will withdraw all my investment as soon as possible.

Terrible Service

Terrible Service. I sent my GIC application via Fedex. They received it Nov 21/23. I called Dec 5 & 18 for staus update. Was told someone would get back to me, crickets both times. Finally I received an email on Jan 1/24 (7 weeks later) with a host of document requirements that were not listed on the application, plus I had sent them direct debit info but they were insisting on a physical cheque. Haven't issued one of those in over 5 years. Now they are not honoring the GIC rate they advertised and that I applied for. They pretend to offer a seemless online experience but they lack resources to service customers in a timely manner.

Truly Horrible Service

I have been trying to set up a savings account and gic ladder with Oaken. The experience has been exasperating. It has been 26 days since I first applied for an account. They needed some confidential information to open the account. Their website uploader did not work. They suggested that I email the confidential information and were surprised when I refused to do that given the lack of security. Instead, I encrypted the information for them and sent it it with an explanation of how to unencrypt it. They didn't read the explanation and rather than calling me to figure it out, they just made a note on the file and gave up. Nothing would have happened had I not called back. 10 days ago I was told it would be completed in 4 days. It is still not completed. Customer service does not know why it is not yet complete. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told they would call me back in up to 5 business days. Truly unbelievable service
