Title: Tenancy Offer Revoked After We Signed the Contract and Paid the Bond
Our experience with this agency was one of the most disappointing and unprofessional experiences we have ever had.
After viewing the property, we expressed our strong interest and were even prepared to pay more than the advertised rent to secure it. The agency subsequently sent us a tenancy agreement, which we promptly signed and returned. We also transferred the bond and the first week's rent, believing the tenancy had been confirmed and that the property was ours.
To our absolute shock, we were later informed that the offer had been withdrawn due to an "IT fault." There was no meaningful explanation, no accountability, and no genuine attempt to rectify the situation—only a brief statement that the tenancy had been revoked because of an internal error.
This caused our family significant emotional distress. Finding a rental home in the current market is already extremely challenging, and having what we believed was a confirmed tenancy taken away after signing the contract and transferring money was devastating. We had already started making arrangements based on the understanding that we had secured the property.
While mistakes can happen in any organisation, what truly matters is how those mistakes are handled. In our case, we experienced a complete lack of professionalism, responsibility, and empathy. The impact on our family appeared to be treated as an inconvenience rather than something that deserved a genuine effort to resolve.
We sincerely hope the agency reviews its internal processes to ensure that no other prospective tenants have to go through the same experience. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this agency.
Horrible Experience!
Our experience with this agency was extremely disappointing and highly unprofessional.
After expressing strong interest in a rental property, we were even prepared to pay more than the advertised rent to secure it. We were then sent the tenancy agreement, which we promptly signed and returned. We also paid the bond and the first week's rent, believing the tenancy had been confirmed.
To our shock, we were later informed that the offer had been withdrawn because of an "IT fault." There was no meaningful explanation, accountability, or attempt to resolve the situation—just a simple statement that the offer had been revoked.
This experience has caused our family significant emotional distress. Searching for a home is already a stressful process, and having a confirmed tenancy taken away after signing legal documents and transferring money is incredibly upsetting. We had already begun making plans based on the belief that we had secured the property.
Mistakes can happen in any business, but the way they are handled reflects the professionalism of the organisation. In this case, we felt there was a complete lack of responsibility and empathy for the impact their error had on us.
We hope the agency reviews its internal processes so that no other prospective tenants have to experience the same treatment.
Unprofessional - Tenancy Revoked after Agreement
I had a very disappointing experience with Oxygen Property Management.
I applied for a property and completed both Stage 1 and Stage 2 applications within an hour of viewing the property. I also showed flexibility by agreeing to pay above the advertised rent and to accommodate an earlier move-in date.
I was then issued the official tenancy agreement, completed reference checks, and received an email confirming that I had secured the tenancy. Based on this, I signed the agreement and paid the required funds (one week’s rent in advance and a four-week bond).
Shortly after this, Oxygen informed me that the tenancy agreement was being revoked.
This experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing, particularly after I had already received confirmation and made payment. Based on my experience, I would not recommend their service

Had the worst experience ever with Dana…
Had the worst experience ever with Dana Qi from lower hutt office. This was our first time dealing with an agent and it was the worst. Communication with her was so annoying as she thinks shes always right and whatever she says should happen. The house was too old & cold & even worse when it rains. I have never asked for so much repairs for just a short period of time. Glad we moved out and not have to deal with her ever again.

Aileen Seales is a superstar!
Our property agent, Aileen Seales, was the absolute best. She was always on to it. Any concerns or questions we had were always addressed and she would always reply to our messages and emails very quickly. Aileen never made us feel like we were just another tenant, we felt like we had a personal friendship with her as she would always check up on us and always ensured that we were comfortable, happy and that there are no issues with living at the property. She was very patient and always so lovely. We had the absolute best and most pleasant experience with Oxygen and Aileen and we felt very well taken care of. We would highly recommend Oxygen and Aileen!

My property managers
I purchased an investment property in Upper Hutt in 2006. I purchased the adjoining property in 2017. These properties were on a cross lease. Oxygen Property Management managed both these properties for me. Karen Stevens-Bevan manged my properties for a number of years after which Maria Aiulu managed my properties until I recently sold them. I have always worked away from home including working in Australia. I always had peace of mind knowing that my properties were in good hands through both Karen and then Maria. Both Karen and Maria were very easy to work with. They were always very friendly and professional. Maria went over and above to ensure that my properties were in good order and ready for settlement day when they were transferred over to the buyer. Binnie is the best
Binnie took over management of our tenancy for the last 9 months and she was nothing but professional, helpful and kind. She remained approachable and consistent in her communication throughout our tenancy. Binnie made an otherwise stressful moving out process easy for us and we are grateful for her patience and kind heartedness. We would recommend her to any renters and would love to have her again if we move back to Wellington.
