They sneak in an extra 2.5% charge when you make a transaction through Amazon Pay—with zero warning. You only realize it after the payment goes through, when it's too late.
A 2.5% fee is not pocket change; it’s a significant, unnecessary, and completely unjustified surcharge. It feels deliberately misleading, as if they’re counting on customers not noticing until the transaction is done.
Transparency clearly isn't a priority here. If a company needs to quietly tack on hidden fees to make money, that says everything you need to know.
Avoid if you value honest and upfront pricing.

My issue keeps getting marked as “resolved” in their system without any actual resolution or meaningful follow-up. This creates a frustrating loop where I have to repeatedly reopen the same problem and explain everything again from scratch.
There seems to be no clear structure, ownership, or accountability within the support process. Responses feel random, inconsistent, and disconnected from the actual issue being raised. Instead of helping businesses move forward, the experience ends up causing unnecessary delays and confusion.
For a payments provider that businesses rely on for critical operations, this level of support is simply not acceptable. Significant improvement is needed in communication, case handling, and genuine issue resolution.
Time-consuming onboarding and unclear decisions
I had a very frustrating experience with PayU’s onboarding process.
Despite fully complying with their requirements—adding legal name and registered address on the website, publishing all mandatory policy pages, and listing multiple genuinely different digital products—the process dragged on with repeated, vague requests and inconsistent feedback.
The communication was unclear and poorly worded, leading to unnecessary back-and-forth. After weeks of changes and clarifications, my application was ultimately rejected under “LOB Rejected” without a clear, actionable explanation.
The biggest issue is not rejection itself, but the lack of transparency and the amount of time wasted getting there. For small digital product sellers, especially individuals, this process feels inefficient and discouraging.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend PayU if you value clear communication and predictable onboarding.

PayU appears to work with fraudulent merchants who misuse the platform to collect payments without fulfilling any orders. Despite providing proof and repeated complaints, PayU only keeps saying “contact the merchant,” while the merchant never responds.
It seems PayU is more focused on collecting commission payments than protecting customers. Their lack of accountability and investigation encourages scams and erodes trust in online payments. Very disappointing and unsafe experience — consumers should be careful before using this gateway.

Basically nothing works, you cannot test the wehbhooks, the customer support is terrible and the documentation is useless.
It seems to me that even they don't know what they are doing.

Beware of PAYU gateway
Beware of PAYU gateway. Most of the Fraudsters are using PAYU gateway service. PAYU won't provide any support on Vendor who has done fraudulent transaction. However all information about buyer is provided to Vendors. Avoid using any payments via PAYU as you won't receive any support as a Buyer from PAYU.

King of no customer support
I have been with PayU from last 6-7 years and I have seen these guys going down and down. Holding payments for no reason, asking for proof of deliveries on links which lead to nowhere, making customer support a joke and now, every now & then asking to validate account. Its a mess and Payu should be help accountable for holding people's money unencessarily. Finally I left this stupid payment platform and joined razorpay.

they dont deserver 1 star even. Worst customer support. Account KAM wont respond. Open tickets will be closed without any resolution. Despite multiple requests payments modes are not activated in merchant id. Switch to other payment gateways. Not recommended at all.

Fraudulent customer service. They hold funds without any explanation and not ready to return the same. Every-time you open a ticket they will close it without giving you any solution. Even the account managers do not attend calls and reply to the emails. Worst customer service. Please think twice before selecting PayU.

We had a very disappointing experience…
We had a very disappointing experience with PayUmoney. Even after canceling the Offer Engine, they kept charging our account. We tried contacting the Account Manager many times through emails and calls, but never got a response.
Ironically, when we disabled the payment gateway, they started calling us every day to ask why we stopped using the service. But once we resumed, the support disappeared again.
Due to this poor service and lack of proper support, we are now planning to switch to another payment gateway like CCAvenue or Razorpay. We do not recommend PayUmoney based on our experience.

This is the worst payment gateway. If the payment options allows you to choose payU please don’t select it . They have processed my payment to a wrong merchant and are not refunding it . Their customer service sucks , they keep closing the ticket everytime we ask for help . Have them reported to cyber crime for playing with customers money .
