I ordered a meal kit from Phomo via Plateaway for my husband’s birthday. We have a baby so are unable to go out for an evening meal so it was important part of our celebrations.
On the day, I received a voicemail and an email saying:
‘Unfortunately we have been informed by Phomo that their collection driver failed to turn up yesterday therefore your delivery is not on route to be delivered today’.
I then called Plateaway and spoke to a lady who told me Phomo passed on their apologies but insisted it was nothing to do with Plateaway and this is the way things are with couriers. She did not seem to understand the inconvenience of this situation or take any responsibility.
Obviously as this was supposed to be the way we celebrated my husband’s birthday, the order arriving the next day was really disappointing. I was too busy at work to sort an alternative plan for dinner for that day. If I had been notified the day before I could have organised something else.
I never received any sort of apology from Phomo even though I asked Plateaway to pass on how I felt. I also didn’t receive any sort of compensation from Plateaway.
The meal arrived a day late and we actually didn’t have an opportunity to cook it until days later, taking the shine out of the occasion and making the whole thing a waste of money.

I really wish I’d ordered from somewhere else.

Was very underwhelmed with my £20 mystery box for 2- which contained 2 single portions of pasta that pasta Evangelist’s sell for £7 each directly on their website (and always have a half price deal on- so essentially £7 of pasta in total or £14 at full retail price)

Mystery boxes are always a risk but I do expect the items to actually come to the price promised; and it’s also mildly annoying that they provided 2 different pastas so couldn’t actually cook them at the same time so would have to spend more time cooking in the kitchen.

To their credit plateaway did try to ring me after I complained however like most sane people I do not like answering my phone to strangers; and as I complained via email I’d have preferred a reply via email.

Edit- plateaway resolved my problem and sent me a replacement box.

I ordered the Bamboo Sushi kit as an anniversary present for my Brother and Sister in Law. Plateaway customer service is phenomenal. They accommodated my special requests, kept me informed regarding the delivery which was on time and they are both absolutely thrilled and are looking forward to having fun making Sushi this evening. What a great company. I will be using Plateaway again

Have ordered from Plateway several times and their meal kits are amazing. All come with clear instructions which are easy to follow. Its better than a take away as fun to make and the food is always fresh. Highly recommended to all food lovers.

We tried Plateway to order a Malaysian meal from Makanmalaysian. It all went smoothly and the meal arrived this morning. We had beef rendang and kapitan chicken with coconut rice. It was delicious! Not too spicy. It was easy to prepare and heat up. It took us back to happy times in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 🇲🇾

Great concept. Plateaway is a brilliant new idea, and is a great way to make a restaurant quality dish at home with ease. Customer support team are super quick to respond to email queries too - answered in my case within just 15 minutes. Great service. Thanks! Now to enjoy my Venezuelan Areas from Guasa. 😁

My experience with Plateaway was so positive from start to end. I was having my order sent to an holiday rental home so I had a couple of queries but the customer support team were super helpful and kept me informed throughout the process. The food arrived and was great! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for this sort of service!

Brilliant idea, Amazing food, Absolutely incredible service.
Started using Plateaway in Lockdown and the kits have not become a regular occurrence. The team could not be more helpful continuously going above and beyond to ensure the product arrives on time and tastes amazing.

Ordered an Indian banquet for two from Oriental Club via plateaway. Delivery company do not confirm time slot but I was in anyway.
Parcel arrived, very well packaged and each item clearly labeled with instructions along with re usable freezer bags.
Followed instructions on hearing each item. Food was absolutely superb. Restaurant quality. Enjoyable and highly recommended… can’t wait for my next treat…

It didn’t start off well with the delivery company not providing us with a 1 hour delivery slot on the day as promised. However, despite only offering email as a method of contact, Plateaway responded quickly and were very helpful and did try and get hold of the company distributing our food (typically the delivery every turned up 15 mins after contacting them).

Next, we didn’t have the correct food we ordered. At this point the food we had received sounded ok, so we decided not much could be done, so we’d have it anyway.

The saving grace was that the food was excellent!!! I can’t rate it highly enough! Therefore no further complaints back to Plateaway as we were very satisfied customers. Just wish we had experienced the food we wanted in the first place!

Have ordered many kits and they have all been great. Portions are massive and quality is great as well. We used to use hello fresh and I can honestly say these are much better and so easy to cook! Another on its way!

Roast chicken tender and well-flavoured but needed longer than the suggested time. Roast potatoes very tasty. Roast vegetables spoilt by hard-centred parsnips where the core had not been removed. Cauliflower cheese very good but mislabelled as roast potatoes which was obvious through the transparent plastic packaging. Portions ample for two, and could easily have fed three people. Yorkshire puddings and gravy not yet eaten but reasonably long shelf-life anyway.
