Regus Oxford: Scam Contracts, False Promises, Unsafe Offices

Avoid Regus Oxford at all costs.

These offices are completely unfit for work and Regus misleads customers during the sales process.
• Paper-thin walls: you hear every phone call and conversation from neighboring offices. If you rent a small office, you will not be able to hold a single professional call.
• Constant ventilation noise: so loud that it is impossible to concentrate or conduct meetings.
• Unpleasant odors: several times a week the entire building is filled with external smells (like gas or rotting waste) that the ventilation system pulls directly inside. This raises serious health and safety concerns.
• Management failures: management ignores complaints, avoids direct contact, and delegates everything to a receptionist who cannot resolve anything. Even basic services (like a working coffee machine) are neglected.
• False promises and hidden fees: they promise new furniture but provide old, broken desks and chairs. They advertise transparent pricing, but in reality there are hidden charges, deposits, and add-ons.

I had no choice but to leave the office because it became completely unusable due to noise, ventilation, and odors.

Regus does not care about its tenants — their only priority is to take your money, mislead you during the contract process, and continue charging you regardless of the service provided. They have no interest in delivering a professional or acceptable workplace

Even when the office is completely unusable, Regus will refuse to terminate your contract and will keep demanding money for services they never deliver.

Do not rent these offices — they are a waste of money and violate basic workplace standards.

Hi Elena,
I’m very sorry to learn of your recent frustrations with your centre; we work hard to ensure an efficient, supportive team and comfortable environment within all of our buildings.
My team have contacted you now to get more information and I have also escalated your concerns about the facilities to senior management, requesting that they be treated as a priority.
We’re committed to transparency and always clarify any billing concerns before agreements are signed. All customers are asked to set up an automated payment method, as outlined in your terms. As an exception, we’ve allowed an alternative method, with an additional service retainer. If you decide to add an automated payment method via your online account at myregus.com, this retainer will be refunded. Your Community team remains your main contact, but please feel free to email me at Lorraine.brule@regus.com for further support.
Thank you,
Lorraine Brule

Oxford Regus Superb

Just wanted to drop a quick note about my recent experience renting a room by the hour. Honestly, it was a great find! The front-of-house staff were super friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home as soon as I walked in.
The rooms themselves were light and airy, creating such a pleasant atmosphere. It was a nice change of pace from some of the drab spaces I’ve been in before! Everything felt professional yet relaxed—just perfect for getting work done.
Overall, I highly recommend checking it out if you need a space for a few hours. I’ll be back!

Cheers,
Piers

Illegal behaviour

Signed up for a 1 month use of the office at 177+VAT.

I was immediately billed for 3 months; one for the actual use, plus one "retainer"- which I wouldn't need for a single month anyway? Then one month in advance too, which again, I wouldn't need because I only wanted one month....also a £45 set up fee. the £177 bill turned to over £600 in minutes. That's just where we get started...

I quickly write an email explaining I don't have this capital and wish to evoke my consumer rights and cancel my contract with Regus.

I was immediately informed I cant cancel as my contract is signed. I am tied in for the full amount for two months (and they would no doubt not return my retainer).

I had lengthy email exchange, where they repeatedly tried to convince me they were 'unable' to cancel my contract. That I had to log in and cancel the contract with a months notice. All this taking way too much time I should have spent on my studies and work.

To be clear, I have still never stepped foot on the premises yet, and only signed up 24 hours earlier. The contract was misrepresented to me, perhaps deliberately, but at the very least in a way which amounts to 'negligent misrepresentation'.

Finally they conceded I was legally able to cancel, but I have to log in and use their products and systems, to access my account an cancel internally.

Well aware that this was going to take more time than it should, would be tantamount to 'commencement of use of products and services which could affect my consumer rights (cooling off periods are only eligible if service use has not commenced), would be extremely complicated and have numerous pitfalls, I replied stating that legally, I do not have to engage with your products and services.

I stated I have a protected right to cancel the contract by communicating with the company via written email stating I wish to cancel. Which is what I have already done.

This was refused, (Yes, they refused my legally protected cancellation email as a private individual!) ...Repeatedly. I asked to speak to the supervisor, who argued the exact same points. Finally, I escalated again to area manager. Same false empathy and 'you signed the contract' narrative.

I am now on day 2 of a drawn out legal argument over email, demanding payment. The nature of which, I believe, now constitutes harassment. The area manager, who it seems, is still refusing to accept my cancellation request, and ignoring other emails
A quick search on justanswer dot com shows they have a history of similar stories. Hidden charges, misrepresented contracts and they are well versed in the legal battle because so many people dont feel they get what they paid for or were expecting.

This company is a beartrap. They overlook basic legal stature and try to argue their way into your bank account, denying basic consumer rights, They are legally vulnerable, and an example of the carnivorous organisations who do whatever they can get away with and will only be kept in check by regular legal challenge.

There are much better alternatives, those who don't think customer service is the work of the devil. Any company, who try to fight you on cancelling your contract immediately, either don't have proper training, or are institutionally corrupt.

Glad I haven't handed over my bank details like the others users on this review thread.

Cue generic response about how the company are very sorry, and always try to maintain integrity and honesty, but your contract said blah.

Respuesta de Regus - Oxford, Oxford Science

Hello Jed,
I am sorry that you have decided to post your concerns online, so soon after joining us.
From 9 January, you decided to join us by signing a month-to-month agreement with us. Transparency is fundamental to us and we always ensure that any concerns have been clarified before an agreement is signed.
Please note that you can review your agreement, invoices, check and amend your services at any time using your online account by logging on to myregus.com. Here, you will find that the concerns you’ve raised are carefully explained.
To set you up in your workspace, there are a few administrative tasks we need to do to ensure you start your service perfectly and have access to both your centre and online account. This is the small activation fee that you are referring to.
Our invoices are made up of two different types of charges:
1. Recurring charges like your monthly office fee, parking, signage… These are billed in advance.
2. One-time charges like meeting rooms, photocopies, admin support… These are billed in arrears.
All your invoices are available in your online account (Account section) and payable upon receipt but no later than the 15th day of each month.
We partner with our customers to help them run and grow their business, but we also have a business to run and cannot cancel an agreement earlier than its end date.
You can end your agreement through your online account (myregus.com) by going to Account > Products and services > End Agreement but it’s clear that you no longer wish to continue your agreement so I have applied the termination notice for you. Your current agreement will expire on 29 February 2024. It is a formal, business commitment.
Your centre team are your key contacts here and are already assisting you directly. Thank you for your cooperation.
Best wishes,
Lorraine Brule
